  1. Ah, I see the conundrum. Congrats, though. You married the right Betty. ?
  2. You're allowed to miss a child's friend's birthday party for opening day football. You are. The conversation would go something like this: Jimmy10: "Baby, I can't go to Timmy McSchittstain's party. You and Jr. will have to go without me." Betty10: "But, it would mean so much to Jr. for you to be there! Why can't you go?" Jimmy10: "Opening day of football, and a divisional game, at that." Betty10: (laying it on thick) "So, you're telling me that you'd rather watch a football game than go to your son's friend's birthday party?" Then (and this is very important), you look her straight in the eye and say: "Yes."
  3. I'll be a couple miles out on the Pacific Ocean sailing in a regatta. I'll watch the game on replay when I get home. Dammit.
  4. Disagree. Jamal Adams notwithstanding, the Jets' secondary is awful. Their D-line is stout. 12, or 21 packages, and give Allen as much protection as he needs. If whichever duo of Brown, beasley, McKensie, Jones, or Foster can't get open, check down. Or, Yeldon (can't believe I'm typing that name!), or Knox, on a short route. And, if our O-line can punch a hole on running plays, great. Gore will have himself a good day. But, if they struggle against the Jets' interior line, this might be a good day to get Singletary running to the outside, and showing what he can do as a scat-back.
  5. I was at that game, and I can tell you-- the five interceptions only tell half the story. The other half of the story is equally bad.
  6. Even at that point, the two Johnsons are not a terrible duo. And Siran would not be a terrible NCB.
  7. If either Taron, or Siran had to play outside, that would mean both White and Wallace we’re out? That would not be good, but it’s not high on my list of things to worry about.
  8. Maybe it'll be snowing, and they'll be camouflaged.
  9. Shhh... So secret, even the rest of the team hasn't seen him play!
  10. I really do apologize. I can't stop myself with these "Burma Shave" style quips. like catnip on cats - the coach can't resist it It must be some sort of dark art If he is indeed talented, Most of us missed it His long ball’s as weak as a fart Peterman
  11. Unending ridicule, or an NFL contract? Which does he deserve? Does he Ride the pine? Or the unemployment line? Not Late Nate, he’s on Injured Reserve! Peterman
  12. That occurred to me too, but then again, I'm sure you've seen Bill Bellichick* press conferences?
  13. If Gore sticks the entire season, and he plays all 16 games, and he averages 33 ypg, he will pass Barry Sanders as third all-time NFL rushing. (And, for context, he averaged over 52 ypg last season with the fish.) The chances of that happening went way up with Shady's departure.
  14. Outside of Jamal Adams, the Jets secondary is quite poor, and this is where we could expect some good matchups. As long as Allen gets enough time to throw more than five yards beyond the LOS, I think we could see a lot of production from Zay, and McKensie, (and hopefully Foster!) with the assumption that Adams is going to be covering Brown. There are a lot more intelligent posters on there than me, and I'd be interested in hearing what they think is going to be the Jets basic D scheme. Cover 2 with Adams playing man? I think their offense is going to be tough, actually. My best hope is that Bell has plenty of rust to knock off, because he could really be the difference maker. I hope we pressure Darnold early, and often. We have a truly great secondary, but they're not going to get a lot of help from out linebackers if they have to work too hard to contain Bell. And the Jets' WRs are decent. Just my thoughts.
  15. Most of the Vegas books have us as 3 point dogs, 40 points. I'd bet the under.
  16. The Autumn wind is a pirate Blustering in from sea With a rollicking song, he sweeps along Late Nate? Are you kidding me??? Peterman
  17. Gore needs 522 yards to pass Barry Sanders, and become the third all-time rushing leader in the NFL. With McCoy's release, his chances of achieving that goal just improved. He can't not be thinking of that.
  18. Duke is a big, strong dude with great hands, and an enormous catch radius. I will say that he looked a little slow in preseason game #4, but I chalked that up to him being out there blocking for almost the entire game. He did not look slow in games one thru three. But the line that "he can't get separation" is bogus. He's a talented route runner that can reel in passes thrown into tight coverage, and it's his sheer strength that gives him that edge. The only other WR with a similar catch radius, IMO, is Brown. And, I don't believe we had another WR who could highpoint as well as he could. I don't think that is an attribute that should be ignored-- neither his ability to block. I believe we will regret not signing him. I hope he clears waivers, and makes the PS, but I doubt he will.
  19. Actually, I believe I am wrong. He does have to clear waivers even for his IPPP extra roster spot. Pretty sure he’ll clear waivers, though.
  20. Does anyone know the timeline for waivers? I know they have to clear in the order of the draft, so how long does that process take?
  21. No doubt. Ray Ray is a little built up in Buffalo, I think both by fans and players. You can’t not love the guy. But from a tape perspective, he’s had some mistakes that really call his consistency into question.
  22. I would think that Wade is a lock for the IPPP PS tenth spot, in which (I believe?) he doesn't have to clear waivers, and other teams can't claim him.
  23. Wow. This is an amazing statement. I said in an earlier post that I didn't want to be the guy that accuses others of not understanding football, but you are definitely treading on 'doesn't-understand-football' territory, here. You can't not know that blocking was a big part of Duke's job last night? Considering many of the formations he was placed in, I suspected early on the coaches had him in there primarily to evaluate his blocking. He was lined up on the inside and blocking on just about every run play he was on the field for. He blocked for other receivers downfield on some plays. He did this because it's his job.
