  1. Yes, I’ll cheers to that — many thanks, Scott! I’ve been coming here daily for a long long time, though I rarely post. I really appreciate the hard work that goes into updating and moderating this site. Thanks for making this my online favorite Bills destination.
  2. I agree on all counts. We also seem to be doing very well with draft selections with this FO, so the high picks won't get wasted.
  3. But he said "almost guarantee" which also means "barely guarantee," etc.
  4. I use Slingbox and it works great. You just need somebody in WNY who is willing to keep it at their house, so you can get the Bills games. www.slingmedia.com
  5. We need Adcock on the 0-line! 42. LEVY ADCOCK,OT(OG)OKLAHOMA STATE, 6-5, 320, 5.23
  6. Nothing would be worse than *no* football. I'd love to see what the league / this coaching staff would do with street replacements.
  7. I believe that until there is a new CBA that teams cannot sign free agents in the off season this year, making all of this a moot point. The only activity left under this CBA is the college draft...
  8. I know it's easy to hate the Dolphins for lots of other reasons, but owner Steve Ross, GM Ireland, and Carl Peterson are complete LOSERS for actively courting Harbaugh before having the balls to fire Sparano. If that isn't enough of a reason for any potential coaching suitor to run away from this front office, I don't know what is!
  9. Here's two big ways Fitz helped us in 2011 and beyond, even if you don't want him as our future starting QB: * Fitz's play allows the staff to evaluate other key areas of the team. By moving the ball, he exposed the strengths and weaknesses of our OL, wide receivers, TE, etc. If Edwards or Brohm had started, the offense probably would have gone into a black hole and we would not have had nearly enough "evidence" to know where we stood. For example, it's very possible that the Bills wouldn't have known that they now have a viable #2 WR in Stevie Johnson. How much is that information worth to you? In the same sense, Fitz helped us to evaluate our defense, since we got to see how well they perform without having to stay on the field for 40+ min per game. * Fitz's play allowed this young team to learn how to win. He kept saying this over and over again during our 0-8 skid, that it was just so important for the team to get their first win, and then other wins would come, as they learn how to play better ball. The "problem" with football is that if the QB blows-up, the rest of the team can't do anything. Which means, that much of the necessary learning that other players need to experience DOES NOT HAPPEN with a Brohm or Brown or Edwards at QB. How much is that experience worth to you? I can tell you that to a player, they said that winning, as a learning experience, was huge for their growth. I'm psyched for the draft, because we have a great opportunity to pick up an elite player in one of several areas where we clearly know we have a need. GO BILLS!
  10. I'm not disagreeing with you , but it's simpler for me, to root for the Bills is like rooting for my own kid at a local game: It's "in me" / core to who I am to root for the Bills every time I see my team take center stage. To me, they represent my heritage, my country, they are my team. The Ralph is my Mecca (no offense intended), their uniform is mine. I relish each victory, I groan with each loss. When we lose, I look for a silver lining -- maybe our players or team developed in some areas, or maybe we just get a better draft pick for next year...but I look for the things to build on. Then I look forward to next week's game and repeat the process till my little life runs it's course. It's that simple folks. GO BILLS!!!!!!!
  11. This is a win-win! Buy a wireless router for your dad for father's day -- tell him it's because you love him so much. Tell him he can now get a laptop he's always dreamed of. You'll get a whole bunch of praise coming to you for that. Then wait a month or two and install the Slingbox. Uh oh, I need to stop, I've already exceeded my personal posts quota for the year. GO BILLS!
  12. You can get all the details at www.slingmedia.com The key is that you pay ONE TIME for a little unit which plugs into a router and also connects to cable TV. It buffers and then streams any channel (separate tuner in the slingbox allows you to stream a different channel other than the one someone might be watching), whether the TV is on or off. You then install their free client software on your PC (now have iPhone support, which is way cool) which allows you to connect to the slingbox, remote control to whichever channel you want, and watch. Super simple to setup. So I bought the unit (I live in NH) and shipped it to one of my family members to install it at their house in Buffalo. So now any time I want I can check the news, etc. from any Buffalo channel by logging in and watching from my PC. As an advantage over Sunday Ticket, you get the pre and post game news from Buffalo stations. One more thing: I connect my PC at home on Sunday to my big TV with an S-Video cable output from my laptop, and then I watch the game on my family room couch like any other channel from my local cable TV stations. The resolution is not as good as non-standard TV, but good enough for free.
  13. I had rewind for the past two years and was happy with picture quality, etc. and will sign up again. I thought they provided some incentive to sign up early, and I thought I only paid 39.99 for the whole season... FWIW, here's my method to avoiding Sunday Ticket: I've setup a Slingbox with family in Buffalo, so I can see all the games live through that, and then watch NFL Rewind the 3-4 times I'm going to the game or miss the 1PM viewing for family reasons and can't record the game over my Slingbox (I think Slingbox does allow you to record events through a local DVR, but my in-laws have no DVR / way to record).
  14. Hi Jay, please put me down for 4 tickets. Thanks a bunch.
  15. I read and enjoy this site more than any other, and have been doing so since 2000. Thanks to you all for making enjoyment of the Bills that much richer!
  16. I want to go on record saying that if all the members of this site were offered this same job, 99.999% of us would say "hell yes" - in a heartbeat. Then after we calmed down a bit, we might ask Buddy about duties, salary and the rest (so the wife knew we were responsible and thinking about the kids / future). Imagine putting your name next to this - Assistant GM of the Bills. Hell yeah baby. GO BILLS!
  17. The role of GM should always be about football - these other things are secondary.
  18. I agree with you Jim. Play another quarter. The problem with any of the OT "special" rules in football (or any other sport for that matter) or any idea is that they are different than the way the rest of the game (and rest of the season) has been played. "Football" should be won and lost on the merits of "football" not some watered down on hyped up version that changes the skills, players, strategy, or rules of football. Special rules cause each team to change their coaching strategy in OT vs. regulation. It also focuses on different skill positions more than during the regular game. And as mentioned, the current flavor today with sudden death puts too much weight on CHANCE, the coin flip. As a fan of "football" I want to see football, not a mini game of something else. (Unless, of course it's a Bills game and we win the coin toss. In that case, current OT rules can apply. )
  19. Damn. Didn't fall for the guy who started the thread, but I got suckered on this one! LOL
  20. Nobody here has forgotten the season opener, and a victory this weekend would purge a lot of demons for the Bills and fans alike. I view this as a huge game for our team, for Buffalo. This is our AFC Championship game (and the Colts is our 2009 SB) and I'm as psyched about this game as I was the season opener. PTR said it best -- this is our "Come to Jesus" game. Whomever's going to the game, rock RWS; Richie Incognito, welcome to Buffalo and give 'em all hell (avoid the 15 yd variety, please)!!; TO get well and show them what you're capable of; Freddy, do your thing; Fitzy...Fitzy... yo Fitzpatick!! For god's sake Fitzy pay attention here and show a little accuracy!!! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I got this from a friend who lives in Philly: "TO was on the Philly sports radio on Thursday and basically said he enjoyed his time in Phila better than his time in Buffalo and wants to back in Phila next year!" I think he was just giving me a load, but wanted to see if anyone else could confirm or deny hearing this -- I saw nothing on threads here or in the news...
  22. He never showed the TV functional beforehand. My bet is the TV was hozed already and this was just BS.
  23. Watch us sign Gandy for big money. Then shoot me in the head.
