Last I checked we didn't need Canada's approval to change downtown Buffalo...
-
While I conceptually like the experiment that Fox is doing with Goose on the sidelines (as an "on-the-field color commentator") I can't stand Goose.... ...and I have noticed the utter disregard that they've shown toward the action on the field this year in general. Disgusting...Just a couple of years ago Dennis Miller was getting castigated any time he didn't pause his commentaries when the ref came on to explain a penalty. Now they're talking over whole offensive series....("It's 3rd and 5, oh no wait, 15, I guess they must have had a penalty in there somewhere...")

You're right...my brain automatically went to "Amazing Race got pre-empted because the game went long...." where the TIVO ends up recording the last hour of the game...
-
I'm not sure TIVO would have helped him in this case. I don't think it would catch the programming update in time (if it was shown a couple of hours later that night) and if it had he would have had to ensure that it was set up to record "all occurances" rather than the default or else the TIVO would have ignored it, thinking that it just recorded that episode two hours earlier. Had something similar happen with another show once. Now I do "all occurances" of shows like Amazing Race (as they don't do repeats anyway).

Oh, yeah, that's right. He doesn't know where the "reply" button is. Just the "start new topic" button.

No one. Hayden and Aaron came in last (just barely beat by Jonathan and Victoria), but it was a non-elimination. Rebecca and Devil-boy took the fast-forward and finished first.

RMPL It would be one thing if the thread had dropped to the 2nd page, but common man!

Instead the guy stands in the front yard holding out a nice juicy steak....

Roethlisberger gives check to tsunami aid
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do you keep harping on this $6600 per death? The money is not going to the dead people. Divide the dollar amount by the millions of living people left homeless and jobless (and without means to earn that meager living). That's gonna spread a little thinner, don't you think? Nice to see that this thread has turned itself around: while it first it appeared that Roth was giving way too little to the Tsunami relief fund, now the C.W. has it that he gave $18,000 too much. -
Actually the tactics that are going on are as effective, if not more so, than combat missions. The terrorists, supported by the people that harbor them, have no problem inciting the masses against the US when they are attacking Muslim countries. They can point to Iraq and say "look at those infidels attacking our brothers, colonizing the holy land." But something like this happens, and the survivors are receiving food and water with "Courtesy of the USA" all over them, and all we do is provide humanitarian aid and move along, all while the radicals stand around mostly helpless, and all of a sudden we don't look like the "invading infidels." And all the radicals can do is sit on their hands, because attacking an aid mission to the people you are grooming as supporters only hurts your cause further.

(OT) You think you have problems

Looks to me like a college station....if so, I would expect it is real. -
14 out of the 22 threads I see on the first page are football-related...

I dunno Mark. I really liked that "Don't Pay the Ferryman" tune. Actually, Mark, Losman has shown us a lot. He has shown us he likes to run, which may be exciting and all but will much increase the likelihood that he's watching games rather than participating. He seems to be the raw, improvisational type which again makes for exciting ball but again can be for the wrong reasons. I see someone who needs to mature as a player, learn more poise on the field (the difference between Losman and Roth), which can be done off-field, and I hope it can be accomplished in one off-season. I have a lot more faith in this staff to get him there than the staff we had the last time we drafted a "QB of the future."

Roethlisberger gives check to tsunami aid
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As mentioned before, it's so that maybe, just maybe, the other 200 players that are playing this weekend are "guilted" into doing the same. Heck, if half the players do it, that's $1,800,000. Remember we are talking about a competitive sport, one-upsmanship is the name of the game.... -
OT - Home recording software
Dan Gross replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? http://www.finalemusic.com/finaleguitar/ There are a number of good products out there, and Finale has several products. This happens to have the features I had been looking for in my price range. You can find it cheaper elsewhere.... You can download demos, but I don't know how limited they are on the input side. I know you can't save/print with the demos, and that they'll read MIDI files. It was enough for me, might be overkill for you. You could try their NotePad for starters...it's free. Everything else scales up from there... -
Ross Tucker on JP Losman
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would imagine that the Bills would first give Losman some time off to clear his head. Let him go home and visit family, relax for a bit (kinda like last year when they told Bledsoe to take a month off). Then set up a cot in the film room. Work him all day on the practice field and spend all night studying film. I would hope they'd "convince" Lee to stay in Buffalo to get his and Losman's timing down. I think the big thing Losman has to learn is that he's not at Tulane any more, that he doesn't have to think "run" first. Based on how he takes to this off-season regimen, I would then decide whether he's ready to compete for the starting job. But then I'm not running the show...people much smarter than me are. -
I have season passes for: CSI CSI:NY Law and Order (still waiting for them to dig deeper into Furina's character...) Amazing Race (can't wait 'til Jonathan and Devil Boy are left watching) Enterprise (just picked this up at the end of last season) Battlestar Galactica (the new one just starting...saw the "pilot" as it originally aired, and it looks promising)

Ross Tucker on JP Losman
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The local morning radio jock, due to the station's sponsorship, broadcasts from camp every year. They get a few players coming and going from practice (all pre-arranged). Tucker was one of the most entertaining guys on. He was energetic and engaging. I remember the question being raised about what he does when he completely dominates his man and he said something to the effect of "I just laugh like a little girl" and lets off this high pitched laugh... I believe he was the one talking about growing up an Eagles fan, going to the training camps and getting autographs (I believe I remember him saying that this is the reason he never turns down an auto...) and then his first visit to Philly as a player...for the Redskins...Plenty of single-finger salutes to greet the team bus on its way into the stadium... -
Or what about Olympia Park?! My mom, grandma, twin great aunts and myself spent many a Sunday at Roseland. They'd sit and watch the Dixieland band play all day while I ran around....I spent more time there than any other amusment park in my youth.

Something that not a lot of people think of is to check to see if the company you work for has any sort of relationship with Disney, especially exhibit sponsorship. Many companies have "employee lounges" at sponsored exhibits which give you a chance to kick back and skip the line onto a ride.

Wegmans named best workplace in U.S.
Dan Gross replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tops held its own until Ahold (also owns Giant, Hi-Lo, among others) took over, IMHO. We resisted Wegman's at first (especially since there are none in Batavia), but now we go out of our way to shop at Wegman's when it's practical (because the Tops stores in Batavia and Leroy both suck, esp for produce...). -

I think I still have an autographed picture of "Tarzan" somewhere...

Probably been that way since the one guy nodded off and fell into the deep fryer. As far as what the Bills are doing goes, I think the 15 minutes lost makes the rest considerably more productive, which makes it a net win. Scientists have shown that it's a natural tendency for people to want to nap in the afternoon. http://www3.azwestern.edu/psy/dgershaw/lol/SiestaSense.html
