Going by personal experience this year I can say that I was looked after extremely well by Kaiser here in the states. Could not have been better. No wait times. I had to go to emergency TWICE for fever and low blood levels. Both times the wait time was no more than 10 minutes. My father in Canada, who has had 3 open heart surgeries, has had to wait 2-3 months to see a cardiologist in the last couple years. Four years ago I had to back there twice for his last surgery(thought it might be it for him) and have a couple observations. The lower tier of his care, nurses and such in his regular room, was shoddy. sh-- attitude, dirty room. However, the pre op and icu seemed excellent. His surgeon seemed very good as well. It really bothered me how sloppy they were though. You would think in a hospital the place would be spotless. When I was in Kaiser for a couple weeks they came in once a day to clean the room up and nurses treated you like you were actually human.

Going to Cali tomoorrow....any suggestions

With out a doubt the worst place I've been to in California. I here Stockton and Fresno are no bargain either but I haven't been to either of them. -
Hey, what are you doing hijacking the thread we hijacked?

We obviously all grew up at the same time. My mom used to have to come look for us because we were either playing football or road hockey as long as the light would allow. We would never want to come back in. Now, I can't get my kid to go out! We had great relationships with the neighbors, both parents and kids. Hell, my best friend back then lived right behind us. The O'Reillys. Seven kids cause they were Catholic. Great people. But it was like our house was their house and visa versa. It was nothing for Dan( my buddy) to come over and grab something out of the fridge to eat. And it was totally ok. We could do the same. They would also help my mom unload groceries and want nothing for it. They weren't expecting it either.

hahah..with heavy snow with a foot on the ground x 10!! When we were kids we would play at night. If the parents were out we would hook flood lights(those little ones you use to illuminate your house) up to a couple trees and play. It was fun with all the snow on the ground.

One Of The Funniest Movie Scenes Ever!!

Should know better to go by memory. -
A quarterback duke out between Edwards and Fitzpatrick just seems funny to me. It's like a couple of guys fighting it out for the #3 qb spot on a decent team.

San Diego is beautiful. Hotel del Coronado is gorgeous and historical. In LA I really like Universal Studios and particularly City Walk. Lots of nice stuff in Cali. Lots to do. -
Some outraged father no doubt. Mikey didn't have enough money left to pay em off this time. Probably

Harvest mouse? lol.

One Of The Funniest Movie Scenes Ever!!
Dante replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Any movie from the 80s with Rodney is a classic. Back to School, Easy Money and of course Caddy Shack are all among my favorite movies ever. They also fall into that category of flick that has replay ability. Can watch again and again. Favorite line from Back to School when Rodneys bitchy wife is introducing one of her plump friends to him. She asks him to comment on her beautiful green dress. "If that dress had pockets you could be a pool table. No offense. You should come to one of my Big And Tall Stores." -
Arcade version though. No hard drive which kinda sucks

California is a beautiful state but the highways and streets always have garbage on beside them. Why not make that a work for welfare project? Sure it's crap work but you should have to do something for your money. It would help the psyche of the citizens and also be prettier for visitors. If you don't care for that you have better become creative or look harder for work.

Ah yes, the hypocrisy of the racist northern states

LOL nice post. -
Good points Dean thank you. Personally I don't run into many issues because I build my own. Well, really I haven't technically built one for me since 99 since my pc is in a constant state of upgrade evolution. Anyway, maybe a better way to go is to get a local shop to build a pc to spec. Can get the components you want. Then they just install a bare bones xp or vista os. Good way to do it then you don't get all the Dell or HP bs software that they are trying to promote.

No problem at all. What do you mean by a social conscience? Doing good in the community? Or just keeping your family on a even keel? For me, I think producing the best kids you can ensuring they can take care of themselves in life is the best thing you can do for the fabric of the community. But this kind of conversation is way too deep for me.

PC is the best gaming platform. Period. Although I do like my xbox for NHL09 and most sports games(except for Madden. Much better on PC) As for macs, I guess if it does the job for you no problem. Personally, Ive never had trouble getting work done (and gaming with my pc). Nice how you can constantly upgrade them if you want with lots of choices. Ive never really gotten the "ease of use" thing associated with macs. As I said, Windows has never been a problem with me to operate. Ive used Photoshop and Illustrator a lot on my pc without any issues at all. Don't understand why its so difficult for people but I guess it is. I think the only beef I have with mac computers and I guess this goes for all Apple products, is the smug elitism that people seem to have that own their stuff. If you tell them you use something other than a Ipod to listen to music, or don't use a mac pro but a Dell. They feel a seemingly overwhelming need to tell you how wrong you are and how their ipod or computer is so much superior to yours. Don't get it. It's kinda annoying as well. Also, we bought a Wii over a year ago and it collects dust. Again, a matter of choice. For me, when i want to play a game, the last thing I want to do is get up and exercise. If I want to play real golf I'll got out and actually golf with a real club. Not a wii motion thingy. If I want to play tennis I'll do the real thing.

You've read me wrong. I really am a live and let live person. I have no problem with churches of any kind as long as they don't effect me. That is, cost me money. Try to influence my family. Try to influence elected representatives. People can believe what they want to. If you get something out of it thats great for you. I'm not sure how that makes me selfish. I think its selfish of the church to come into my life and try to change the way I think. I would never think less or more of you for believing in religion.

No conundrum for me. I'm conservative and believe in the separation of church and state. Could care a less what the pope says. This is really something coming from him. Who has more ill gotten gains than the church? Lots of revenue with with no tangible product to sell, except for a fairy tale. Maybe the catholic, and all churches for that matter, should consider paying taxes to help society? Fuggin hypocrite

How about Susan Sarandon and Catherine Deneuve in "The Hunger"?

Why is the Senate blocking an audit of the Fed?
Dante posted a topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Entire nation concerned with some pedophiles demise while things like this go on. Why wouldn't everyone want the Fed Reserve be accountable? They can give out 2 trillion in loans without saying where? Some good background info here http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=aatlky_cH.tY DeMint in the Senate on the blockage. http://digg.com/d1vytW Will add this "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson -
Now Alexis Arguello is dead......the hits keep coming
Dante replied to bbb's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Without a doubt he was not only on the classiest boxers of all time, he was maybe the classiest athelete ever. Except for several NHL'ers. For a boxer, thats saying a lot. He was just as gentle in his post fight win over Mancini as he was with Costello. (That was when they used to show quality fights on regular tv)It was not canned or done for self promotion either. Which is even more obvious now reading the posted articles here. Sounds like he was a bit too sensitive and emotional for his own good. Very sad he's gone. I was really heartbroken when he was defeated by Pryor. -
I am sick of hearing about how our coaching sucks....
Dante replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea how much Jaraun makes, but I'm willing to bet he is still a coach and is in Buffalo because he comes cheap. Bills never spend money on head coaches. Only guy that I can think that may have cost them some bucks was Chuck Knox. Levy was a losing coach when he signed with the Bills so he could'nt have cost much. -
Hope it's not too long. Reinforces why the US is here and how great the founding fathers were. Our current government has too many similarities to the British one way back then http://www.aier.org/research/commentaries/...-big-government

No. As long as its not the day before or of the game. No problem with it.
