The waning days of a political fad
Dante replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The only thing waning is your kind. A bankrupt, tired idea of socialism is failing on all fronts. One weekend of sweet talking about a tragedy does not change the fact that Obama is fraud and a phony who uses class warfare hate to divide us. The sooner this schmuckaroo is out of there the better. -
2.5 trillion in spending cuts over 10 years
Dante replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Good start. Lets vote on it. Get it done. -
Saw it on Tosh as well. That was insane. I just don't know how she could have that much confidence in that line. Ballsy to be sure. I like Tosh's line. Paraphrasing but it was something like "How did we win the cold war against them. These guys are fearless!"

Seems kinda douchey. Think they would just refund you just to keep a customer. Fat chance of that now.
-
Agreed. We bite the bullet on stuff like this occasionally. More just for good customer relations. I mean if its obvious the customer is trying to get over or lie to us we won't work with them. And Chef, it is more than $1.50. Can't even buy a blank shirt for that. Especially now that there is some sort of cotton shortage going on, apparently.

Bellichek's arrogance costs the Patriots again
Dante replied to LasBillzz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Patriots improved when Moss left. All of a sudden they need him because of one loss? -
..someone didn't get his commission check I guess.

Where were all the pats fans with almost 2 mins left to play?
Dante replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does kind of smack of loser bitterness cackling. Here we are, annual bottom feeders cheering the collapse of a fading champion. Something kind of nauseating when a "never was" giggles childishly in the background at a has been. At least they have somewhere to fall from. -
And they both have to do with alchohol. hmmm... Beer Wars If you enjoy real beer(and who doesn't?) and despise the pony piss the big 3 "breweries" push out, you'll love this movie. Seems to be a great insight from a knowledgeable source on how the AB, Miller and Coors maintain a huge market share selling a lousy product. Also follows two small independent breweries as they struggle to compete. Really cool movie the I enjoyed. Blood Into Wine This one follows Maynard Keenan(front man for Tool) and his passion for his winery that he started from the ground up in Arizona of all places. This one might not be for all tastes as it is kind of slow and disjointed at time. The background theme throughout the flick is that Maynard is being interviewed on tv by a couple journalists(real life family members I believe)making fun of his endeavors. Just seems tacked on and out of place. Despite this, it isn't intrusive to the extent that it scuttles the movie. Still very interesting and I don't even drink wine as a rule. I think if you do, you will like it just for its look at the nuts and bolts of creating a winery and if you like Tool(i'm neither here nor there on them) you will also enjoy it.

December Movies: Tron: Legacy, Narnia:VOTDT, True Grit, and
Dante replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Good point. It was a heart warming, positive ending. I really liked the directing in this movie. Potentially this movie could have been draggy. However he manages to keep the train moving forward. -
How bright are these guys mouthing off giving billboard material. Not very smart.

Can't argue with that. I think Wahlberg did well though. I guess you can argue that Bale had the more interesting character to portray. Still, Bale was amazing. I also thought whomever played the mother did a fantastic job. Have no idea who she is though -
Do yourself a favor and watch the original. One of my favorite comedies.

I wish he would go back and do some of those again. "The Burbs" is one of my favorites with him in it.

I was worried about this being a little boring. Not so? -
I'm heartbroken when Canada loses. However, I have to give credit to the cossacks for not folding their tent and going home. To bad their pro comrades didn't have the capability in the Olympics. I think the Canadians suffered from domination so early. They lost intensity fairly early in the 2nd period and it left the door open to the Russians.

Movie was a let down to me. Thought it was over dramatic sometimes with over the top music score that didn't fit the situation. I guess the acting was ok and the lesbo scene was hot but thats about it. True Grit, The Fighter, and 127 Hours were all far better December offerings imho -
Boohoo!

Agree. US Team really has come a long way the last 15 years or so. Watching the game now and you would think the game was being played in Canada. That really sucks for the American team. Holding it in Buffalo was a mistake I suppose. Minnesota, Michigan or N.England somewhere would may have been a better choice About the goal tending for Canada. I was listening to Bob Mckenzie today on NHL Live and he was saying that Canadian goalie Visiten is one of the best in the Juniors this season. I guess you can't read too much into that weak goal he allowed vs the Swiss. Also it seems like all Canadian teams at any level seem to get better as a tournament progresses.

The wonders of alcohol. geeze! Just take your hands out WTF? -
Should be a interesting game. Nice article on it here ! GO CANADA!

Like yourself I like to keep it simple. I will take that Grey Goose you don't want and put it with lots of ice and soda with a big hunk of lime. Light, clean. Perfect on a hot day without being to sweet.

Thought Black Swan was going to be better. Not sure if I would put it the awful category but pretty lame non the less. I was looking forward to two hot ballerinas duking it out but (SPOILER ALERT if you care)... ....turns out one of the chicks was just crazy and imagining it all. Best thing about it was the lesbo scene.

Have to agree with most of the ones I saw. 5."127 Hours". Great Job by director Boyle making a potentially boring story compelling. Quirky sense of humor as well. 9."Let Me In". Worthy redo of "Let The Right One In" which is one of my favorite movies from the last 10 years or so. 2."True Grit". Coen bros, Matt Damon and Bridges. What else can you say? Well, that girl Hailee Steinfield should get some Oscar recognition. Again the Coens attention to detail took it to higher level. Period dialog was great and they really did manage a extremely gritty feel to the picture to live up to the films namesake. 10."Exit Through The Gift Shop" Pretty obscure but it really was interesting. True story about a guy who wants to do a documentary on street artists and gets sucked into doing it himself. Just watched this the other day "Shutter Island" to me anyway, was good but not great. Probably didn't help that they gave up the ending in the fuggin trailer!! How did they leave "The Fighter" out of the top 10? Quality flick all around and Bale is another that should get serious Oscar consideration The only one of the worst I was watched was "Grown Ups" Couldn't agree more. Truly unbearable. Puzzling that with so many film vets and supposed comic kingpins involved, none of them or their agents could recognize a awful script. Still, the pos made a ton of cash. Go figure. The other bad movies listed I had the good sense to spot them ahead of time.
