All depends what you want out of your phone. I like my Android Vibrant because it does the things I want it to do with some extra hardware perks others don't have.
Hardware.
-Removable battery. Very important, to me anyway, if your out away from a charger. Takes two seconds to change out the battery. Very convenient. I see other people that have to drag chargers around if they are out for any length of time
-Sim Card. Nice to have if your going to watch movies, shows or have lots of music. Other phones don't have this either
-Great HD Amoeled screen.
Software
-Fully customizable. It's like having a new phone every week if you wanted. If you choose to root your phone(which now is very easy) you can install any number of roms that can really enhance your phone.
-Sync with Google apps
-Sync's with my Ford Sync's blue tooth flawlessly
-Swype is a life changer for texting!
These are just a few things that are important to me that may not be as important to you. What I don't like about most Android phones is the layers of software that the carriers put on top of Android. In the case of my phone, the Vibrant, it slowed it down and generally messed things up. It wasn't until I rooted and installed a custom rom did the phone truly realize its potential. Faster. Almost doubled the battery life and so on. My next Android phone will be something like the Nexus S that has pure Android and no software on top.
On a side note, my son had Windows Phone 7 HD7 I believe? I really like that phone as well. Almost like the Android Evo but with Zune like software. That phone is closer to the Apple though as the software is more closed and not customizable.
