  1. What DM said.
  2. You are correct: it was not an easy block. It was as you describe. It was not for lack of effort or any of the other BS things that Willis haters on this board try to argue. He missed a tough block on the edge on a seven step drop. In his pc, he said that he made a mistake. He did not try to deflect blame. He also gave credit to his offensive line for the production he had. Yet, the haters on this board would have you think that he is not a team player blah, blah, blah.
  3. Basically, what I am referring to is the overreaction of some -- not really you. For example, there are those who go out of their way to trash WM and think that he should be run out of town and, at the same time, are a lot more forgiving of any particular mistake that JP may make. They also go out of their way to shoot the messenger (in this case Joe Ferguson) if someone makes even the slightest remark about JP that can be construed as negative. For what it is worth, I trust Joe Ferguson's observation (especially one made in private) about JP than Jerry Sullivan or anyone on this board. It may be worth considering rather than attacking Fergy because he made some private comment about JP. The one thing I like about JP is that he seems to want to get better and better and realizes that there is room for improvement. I think that JP would be a lot less touchy about a remark like this one (coming from a former NFL QB who played many years in the league) than some of the people on this board who go off the deep end when something like this comes up.
  4. I don't. Where do you get that?
  5. As I recall, Evel Kneival did not make it that far when he tried to go over the snake river (or whichever river it was). It seems to me that there are many JP supporters that are a pretty touchy about anyone making any comment that can be even slightly interpreted as being critical. At the same time, some of these same posters want to run the league's leading rusher out of town. [it is odd that some of JP's "supporters" feel the need to go out of their way to attack Willis. I am glad that it does not appear that the two of them seem to react the same way]. As for me, I think that JP has shown much more potential than he did last year. Nevertheless, he has made some critical errors. Yet, I am not going to throw the "baby out with the bath water." He has shown potential. I like his attitude this year. He has thrown some pretty good balls. I would like to see some improvement in the touch throws, getting the play off, ball handling etc. Also, if Joe Ferguson makes a private comment about locking into receivers, it may be worth considering rather than trying to shoot the messenger.
  6. Aren't some of you guys overreacting to Fergy's comments? Fergy is not saying he should be run out of town (as some of you want to do to some of our other players). Do you guys really think that JP is perfect? I don't, and I am sure, neither does JP. JP is showing signs that he could be a good QB, but he (and pretty much most of the team) certainly have room for improvement). He is a young QB who is going to make mistakes (just like some of our other players for whom many of you are much less forgiving). If Fergy noticed something about locking into wrs, that does not mean that Fergy is saying that he is a horrible QB. Perhaps, it would be more wise to take this as constructive criticism -- as I am sure JP does when the coaches (or others who know what the hell they are talking about) offer him advice.
  7. You seriously are singling out Fergy for our dismal record agains the Dolphins in the 70's?!? Funny though how you do not mention what he did when we finally beat the Dolphins for the first time in the Orange Bowl in 1983 for the first time since the 1960's.
  8. Another analogy: Referring to Fergy as a loser is like the Flutopians giving Flutie all the credit for every win the Bills had when he played.
  9. I believe you are talking referring to the coach with the best winning percentage in Buffalo Bills history as a "loser."
  10. Joe Ferguson was a good QB for the Bills. He also played on some pretty awful teams. I would be pretty happy if JP is able to have the kind of long term career with the Bills that Fergy had. It is funny how some of the people on this board parrot the old Larry Felser fixation about Fergy hanging his head. It kind of reminds me of the comments that some of our more "brilliant" posters made about Wade not wearing a head set.
  11. I have a feeling the Ravens are going to be a very tough game -- especially if they are fighting for a playoff position. It is going to be a very good test for this team.
  12. I just watched the press conference on BB.com. I was very impressed with JP's pc as well as the pcs of the other players and DJ. This team is going to stick together. I also love the fact that JP said that he does not care what the media is saying (or not saying) about the team. It was a loss. There were mistakes. Yet, unlike last year, I do not feel like this team is hopeless. They are going to stick together, learn from the mistakes, and get better as the season progresses.
  13. The bastards at profootballtalk.com tried to paint him as someone who was afraid to get hit after the Ravens game. This kid sounds like he is tough as nails. I really hope that he is ok.
  14. I hope so too.
  15. Some of you guys sound a lot like Mularkey last year when JP had a bad game -- trying to deflect blame elsewhere. JP's mistakes were critical to the outcome of the game. With any luck, he will learn from them. It does not help JP to try to deflect his mistakes elsewhere.
  16. Very good point. The NYT is the best paper in America. How anyone can argue with this is beyond me.
  17. . . . or not challenging the administration on WMD claims.
  18. Yes. Very much so.
  19. Well put. It was a very positive article. Earlier this week or last week, the Times also had a very positive article about WNY (which someone else linked). I am a paleo conservative. Yet, the NYT is the best newspaper in America. The trashing of the Times is really overdone (especially by the people at Fox and within the VP's office).
  20. For some reason the HD game is not showing up on my guide. It also did not for first game against the Pats or the game against the Dolphins (although I was there so it did not make any difference).
  21. The Duck is Swimming in the Other Pond
  22. There is some truth to that. I presume the coaching staff is emphasizing to JP that he should avoid any costly mistakes. So far, the offense has been fairly conservative. We have won a big game and came close to winning a second against a very tough opponent. The difference is that there hopefully will be more upside with JP down the road. Time will tell. It is not just JP though. The passing game also requires that the line give him time and the receivers run the correct routes and get open. I do look forward to the day, however, when other teams will not consistently stack the box to stop the run out of respect for our passing game. That has not happened yet.
