Let's not forget the game conditions. What were Air McNair's stats for that game? Let's also not forget about our depleted offensive line.
-
I think the drop off is the telling stat. By the way, according to their overall rating, he is third from the bottom - only ahead of Weeden and Sanchez. No matter how you slice it, he has not had a stellar start to the season.
-
According to PFF, when Fitzpatrick holds on to the ball for 2.5 seconds or less, he has an accuracy percentage of 72.0%. When Fitzpatrick holds on to the ball for 2.6 seconds or more, his accuracy percentage drops to 56.7%. Fitzpatrick's 15.3% drop off is the third highest in the league. I suspect that this has a lot to do with Fitz's problems with deeper throws. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/10/10/32-observations-week-5/

Is it me or doesn't it always seem as though we get more than our fair share of injuries. I have to believe that our offense would have performed a lot better but for the injuries (and lingering injuries) to Spiller, Fred, Cordy Glenn, Urbik (and two of his subs), Nelson.

Scott Fujita responds to reduced punishment
Peter replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have found it interesting that the NFLPA - an organization that ostensibly represents all of the players - seems to have more interest in representing the interests of the Saints players accused of being part of the bounty program rather than those players whom the Saints sought to cart off. It reminds me of the MLBPA, which always seemed to have more interest in protecting those players that took performance enhancing drugs rather those players who chose to play without doing so. One would have thought that they would have wanted all players to be able to play without feeling the pressure to take drugs to have to compete with those that did. -
What were Air McNair's stats in that game? Flutie no doubt had some good games for the Bills, but the notion that he always found a way to win and would have against the Titans is belied by what happened at the end of the Dolphin playoff game.

I have kept my tickets even though I live in Miami. For some reason, I had labored under the misimpression that Bills fans were the best in the world. As I said in another post, I realized that certain Bills fans are as bad as some of the others that you find around the league. By and large, I still think that Bills fans (and Chiefs fans for that matter) for the most part are very good fans. The idiots are not going to stop me from going to games. Nevertheless, I never thought that being at a football game was an excuse for being a dick. The same thing for the other subject that has been discussed now and again. I love my beer as much as the next guy. Yet, I never thought that being at a football game was an excuse for being a drunken fool - whether it be at the Ralph, Dolphin stadium, Foxboro etc.

I also agree that your post is spot on. As for your impression about what Thurman and Andre thought about him, I would invite anyone to ask them if they ever get a moment to speak to them privately. The other thing that bothered Bills and some fans about Flutie was his use of pronouns in post game press conferences. It was remarkable how often he said "we" after a loss and "I" after a win. That was particularly revealing of his attitude. Flutie had some very good games with the Bills. His presence though, in some respects, was destructive to the team and did things to the fan base that I had never seen before. We are still arguing about this to this day. I know I will probably get slammed by some for this, but I thought that Rob Johnson had the potential to be a very good QB for the Bills. I think that RJ's development as a QB was stunted by Flutie's presence as well as the pounding he took both on and off the field. It is funny how we have complained about our most recent QBs always checking down etc. Flutie checked down a lot too. RJ was the opposite of that. He could throw a great long ball and that is what he liked to do. As a result, he stood in the pocket and got the absolute **** kicked out of him. While some here would complain that he was a "wimp" etc., I, on the other hand, thought that he showed remarkable courage standing behind that offensive line -- especially given how he was fragged by the Flutopians in the fan base (and those people who were simply Flutie fans rather than Bills fans). One of the things that is somewhat interesting about the story is that RJ's mother originally was from Buffalo. Nevertheless, segments of the fan base and certainly the Flutie people never accepted him. While he was getting the **** kicked out of him playing for our team, some in the fan base cheered when he got hurt. As I said in another post, that was a watershed moment for me. I do not care how much money some of these guys are making, if you are getting the **** kicked out of you on and off the field, it has got to be tough. In the end, having both QBs on the same roster ended up being a detriment rather than a bonus. Just my two cents. Go Bills.

RIP Alex Karras. Apparently, he has died according to PFT.

Say what you will, Russ Brandon is doing a good job. By that, I think that he is doing everything he can do to make sure that the franchise is viable in WNY. If I recall correctly, he is from Syracuse or thereabouts. I think that he has a passion for making sure that the team stays in Buffalo. Count me as at least one person who is glad he is with the Bills. I know this site is where some people go to take a big **** on people. It would be "funny" if there were sites devoted to each of us where people could go and post the kind of stuff that is posted here about how we perform our jobs and what we do in our personal lives. Just my two cents.

That was a watershed moment for me as well. I have kept my season tickets even though I live outside of the Buffalo area, but my view of at least a segment of our fan base changed that day. As you mention, there are days when I read posts on this site that confirm this.

What were Air McNair's stats in that game?
-
Well said as usual.
-
It sort of looks like Ralph is rushing the passer.
-
Was that Jerry O who pump faked, did not see the the Dolphins best pass rusher from his non blind side, and fumbled the ball at the end of the game on the door step of the Dolphins end zone. Listen, Flutie had some good games for the Bills. For a good part of the Dolphin game, he played pretty well. Yet, the Flutopians always seem to B word and moan about how we would have won the Titans playoff game if only Flutie had played but, at the same time, always seem to forget that he did play in a Bills playoff game and did not have his magic pixie dust when the game was on the line. At the most crucial time of the game, he fumbled the ball. I was there. We should have won that freaking game. Those teams were the beneficiaries of a very good Buffalo defense.

Do you remember what happened at the end of that game? Very well said.
-
I actually think that he is one of the "idiots" here and is just afraid to admit who he is. I would not be surprised if some of the other members of the Buffalo media post here without identifying themselves (unlike JW who is up front about it).
-
We had a great defense. I think that we could have gone far and dare I say Super Bowl.
-
As an aside, we had a fantastic defense then. Over the past two games, I cannot help but miss that defense even more. I really thought that our defense would be the strength of our team this year. I really hope that we can turn this thing around.

Let's put things in perspective. He is a professional complainer. As some of you may recall, he was screaming last year about how the Bills needed to extend Fitz and bitched and moaned about it until it happened. The first article that I ever remember reading that he wrote was a hit piece on Bruce Smith way back when Bruce was with the Bills. Every time I hear him on WGR when I stream WGR, he just sounds like the cranky guy screaming at kids to get off of his lawn. Sure, he is a columnist and he writes opinion pieces. That does not mean that his opinion is based on some superior knowledge. His one skill is seeing the clouds surrounding any silver lining. Having said all that, I hope his mother is ok.

Aaron Maybin is a hell of an artist

At least there is one thing is good at. -
Let's put things in perspective. Wiley was good friends with Flutie. Rob Johnson is not the reason why we "lost" the game against the Titans. People also seem to forget about Flutie's performance at the end of the playoff game in Miami against the Dolphins.

I was going to post something nasty about Sullivan, but given the situation with his mother, I will give him a break. I hope she is ok.

I remember some "Bills fans" cheering when RJ got hurt at the Ralph. It was awful. Prior to that, I had thought that we had the best fans in the world. After that, I realized that, at least some Bills fans, are as bad as the worst fans around the league. Some of these same !@#$s apparently were tweeting Aaron Williams that they were glad he got hurt. I never could understand why anyone would ever cheer when someone gets hurt -- especially if the guy is on your team.
