  1. Seantrel has been great. The way I am looking it is that we got our 2015 first round pick this year.
  2. . . . or compete level.
  3. The more I read about this, the more I think this is on the par if not worse than the Ray Rice situation. There is a difference between discipline and a beating. Giving a four-year a four minute tine out is discipline. Giving a four-year a light open palmed swat on a fully clothed behind to get his attention without physically hurting him is discipline. A 217 pound man repeatedly striking a defenseless four-year with a switch (some reports state over 20 times) on his bare behind including his scrotum is a beating. This conclusion is re-inforced when you look at the photos of the child that reportedly were taken a week later. Adrian Peterson should know better - especially in light of what happened to one of his other sons about a year ago.
  4. I know what you mean. I have tried to explain how much this means to my wife and 12 and 6 year olds, but I am sure they do now fully appreciate the depths of emotion of those of us (including my mother and sister - and my dad if he were still alive) who have Buffalo and the Buffalo Bills in their DNA fee.
  5. Sadly, that was the second thing that I thought of after being concerned about what happened to the child.
  6. Yes. In fact, we were interested first and it looked like we were going to get him (as I recall). The Dolphins became interested in him later in the process.
  7. I thought Seantrel did pretty well in his first NFL game against a good DE in a tough environment on the road. There was a lot to build on. Being at home should be good for him. It will be a good test.
  8. Thanks for your input Bucky.
  9. My opinion is that he always has had an ax to grind with Darcy and decided to be overly critical of the Pegulas when they did not fire Darcy right away. As an aside, if you ever want to get an idea of the depth of animosity that the Buffalo News had toward Darcy, watch the post season press conference after the 2013 season. The TBN guys really embarrassed themselves. I am sure there is a video of that somewhere.
  10. I initially was not going to get involved in this, but I now cannot resist. I have never booed the Bills and Sabres. I have certainly been upset with the way each team has played at games I have been to. Just like every person can choose to be stupid, fans have the right to boo a team at a meaningless preseason game to take out their frustrations for 14 years of not making the playoffs on guys who have been around for only a few years. That is your choice. I am with Marquise on this one.
  11. This week and the game against the Texans (JJ Watt) are going to be real tests for the offensive line and Seantrel. I agree that we should expect to see some ups and downs from Seantrel because he is a rookie. One advantage he will have that he did not have in Chicago will be that the crowd will try to be quiet when our offense has the ball. This is all part of Seantrel's development. I fully expect him to develop into a tackle that will play well for us for several years. He has the physical gifts and talent, and judging from his performance thus far and some interviews I have seen, he seems to have his head in the right place.
  12. This post and others on this board and some of the Canadian callers on GR yesterday are examples of why I love our Canadian brothers.
  13. Remember Cathal Kelly of the Globe and Mail who wrote: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/kelly-torontos-nfl-dream-lives-and-dies-on-a-prayer/article19903251/#dashboard/follows/ Mr. Kelly is oddly silent. I love Canadians, Toronto, John Wawrow, and John Kryk etc. I do not like guys like Cathal Kelly and others (from Toronto or here in the US) who look down their noses at Buffalo and Buffalonians.
  14. Bucky has done that a few times now. He really should be embarrassed about his attack on Kim Pegula. Everyone whom I know who knows her raves about her. In fact, everyone whom I know who knows Terry says the same thing. They are class owners and treat people fairly and are loyal. Given the Pegulas long history of loyalty to the people around them (including to Darcy when the easiest thing to have done would have been to fire him from the start), one wonders about PLF -- especially given his SHORT history in management with the Islanders. Paul Hamilton stated way back when this all went down with PLF that PLF is a very different person when the cameras are not on. Bucky presumably has a relationship with PLF and will criticize the Pegulas every chance he gets given the ax that he, PLF, and Sully have to grind. When reading an article or column on TBN, one should remember to check who wrote it. Bucky, Sully, and (for that matter) Harrington have been overly critical of the Pegulas. Take whatever they write for TBN or on Twitter (and dare I say here and on the other site anonymously) for what it is worth and a truckload of sand. The good news: I have noticed that over the past year or two, people have caught on to Bucky, Sully, and Harrington. Plus, with the Pegulas ensuring that the Bills will stay in Buffalo for the first time in my adult life, Bucky, Sully, and Harrington are further marginalized.
  15. Especially by both Bucky and Sully. The day before the Pegulas took over the Sabres, Sully wrote an article stating that the first thing they should do is fire Darcy. Bucky always had it in for Darcy since the time that Darcy took over and wanted to give Nolan a one year contract to see how they would work together. That approach clearly made sense given what had just happened with Nolan, Muckler, and Hasek. It was curious that Bucky never criticized Tim Murray for essentially doing the same thing when he was hired (he waited to decide whether to extend Nolan's contract). Bucky now really has it in for the Pegulas and especially Kim Pegula because of LaFontaine. It is odd that, in none of Bucky's articles as I recall, does he ever mention how FAST PLF wore out his welcome with the Islanders. As for me, I would not have fired Darcy or Lindy upon taking over. It initially worked out in any event given the Sabres went on a run and made the playoffs. It is probably good for both Darcy and the Sabres that Darcy is gone. He was a lightning rod. He did make some good trades though and left us with a wonderful parting present - the Vanek trade. Having said that, I am pretty happy with Tim Murray. I think he is and will do a good job. Re Lindy, I always liked him. He became a Buffalonian. I probably would have kept him. I certainly would not have fired him before Darcy. I also think that he is a much better coach than Nolan. We shall see with him.
  16. I hope so too. It is horrible how some have turned against them re the Sabres. Unfortunately, there are guys like the one you mentioned as well as Bucky and Sully who have their own narrative that they push every time they can. The fact is that we are lucky to have them as owners of the Bills and Sabres. Some like to point to where the Sabres are now re won/lost record. That misses the point. They are intentionally doing a rebuild rather than a patch job. Not many owners would have the financial patience to do what they are doing. The end result will be a very, very good young team that should challenge for several years. I could not be more pleased with the way that this has worked out with both the Bills and Sabres.
  17. If it were me, I would proceed through the year and get to know these guys and make a decision after the season. As for Russ, he was instrumental in making sure that a day like yesterday actually happened. The Bills have done reasonably well financially and his involvement in the non relocation clause and convincing the NFL owners to accept it deserve all of our respect. He also has increased the team's market through regionalization. stp. Without the non relocation clause, who knows whether there would have been other bidders intending on moving the team. We know that approximately 60 packages went out to potential bidders at the beginning of the process. The non relocation clause scared enough of them away including that very wealthy guy (whose name escapes me and who wants to locate a team in LA) from even bidding. Russ is a local guy who deserves all of our gratitude and respect for doing what he could to make sure that the team stays in Buffalo. I will never understand why so many people here want to get rid of him. Just my two cents.
  18. Does anyone here know whether they will re-broadcast this? I missed it unfortunately.
  19. I understand why people do not like this rule. There may be some adverse consequences: What will the impact be on home attendance (especially in bad weather) and home field advantage? What will the impact be on those of us who have season tickets and live out-of-town and cannot go to every game? Will the re-sale market for tickets be impacted?
  20. Thank you Mary and Ralph. You will never know the depths of emotion I am feeling right now knowing that the team whose games I grew up going to with my Dad, Mom, and sister will remain in Buffalo. You will always be a member of the Buffalo Bills family.
