This year could be interesting. Around the NFL there are rumblings that a lot of veterans will soon be cut to save money - Peyton Manning, Hines Ward, Keith Brooking, Lee Evans, Jason Smith etc. We have a good amount of cap space but I'm thinking that The Bills would be wise to unload some players given several factors salary, age, and current offensive/defensive philosophies. Here are my picks: Dwan Edwards - a very average player but one that is best suited in a 3-4 defense. With our team switching to a 4-3, I don't think there's a spot of Dwan. Spencer Johnson - Spencer is getting up there in years and his productivity seems to be on the decline. We would be wise to dump him and replace him with a younger player ready to contribute. Bryan Scott - We resigned Scott last year but he saw limited time. With D'Norris Searcy on the rise, it may be time to say goodbye to an otherwise very solid backup. Chris Kelsay - Sorry but I have never really been thrilled with Kelsay. He just does not produce for what we pay him. I would have cut him last year as well. Hoping we pull the trigger this year. Shawne Merriman - I know some people will argue this one, but it's clear that Merriman has lost it. He's a shell of the player he once was and is out of place in a 4-3. I know some loyal fans in here disagree with these picks, but this is what I would do if I were running the team.

The guy is on his way out in Denver. What do you think about Brady as Fitzpatrick's backup. The guy looked pretty sharp in the preseason. He never really seemed to get a break aside from one dis functional year in Cleveland. Really he could be a better option than Tyler Thigpen

Think about it... We could have two extremely good WR's on the field at once with Stevie and Randy Moss. I think that Chan would have a good ability to deal with Moss as well. Really I think Moss would look in a Bills uni. He won't be the same player he was 10 years ago, but he'd be a great option if paired with Stevie Jjj

I was hoping this would clear the way for the return of Keith McKellar, Lonnie Johnson or Sheldon Jackson too.

Yeah pretty much - this is what the commentators were saying. It was a panel discussion, and Skip Bayless was one of the guys sharing this theory. Also it should be noted that when Tebow was named the starter after Orton's release he was listed as the #3 QB on the depth chart. He leapfrogged Brady Quinn was officially named the backup QB. How often does this happen?

Isn't it pretty silly to do a mock draft about three months BEFORE the actual draft? So much changes as far as team personnel, coaches, not to mention players whose stock rises or drops during combines and workouts. I remember looking at Kiper/McShay's early draft picks last year and some of them dropped big time. Never understood why people got excited for them in February

Easily one of the most interesting stories in the NFL in 2011-2012. It's clear that Elway in not sold on Tebow and given some of his performances, perhaps he is not completely wrong. I was watching ESPN a few days ago and they were talking about this, here's basically what they said. According to them after Denver went 1-4, Elway was sure the team could not be a contender. He decided to release the team starting QB (Orton) and trade their best WR (Brandon Lloyd) and was going to "suck for Luck," and select the big armed, Standford prototype passer. Luck was Elway's guy and also happened to go to his alma matter. Elway allegedly persuaded coach John Fox to start the #3 QB Tim Tebow the week after Orton was released, thinking he'd fall on his face causing fans to jump off the bandwagon. But the opposite happened. Tebow played with a tremendous amount of heart and perseverance despite not being at a passing skill level of most NFL QB's. The result was a huge win streak that extended into the postseason with a victory. Not only did Tebow screw up Elways "grand plan" costing him a shot at draft a blue chip prospect at QB like Luck, but he won a playoff victory against the #1 defense in the NFL and gained a crapload of momentum behind "Tebowmania." Say what you will - but this is why I cheer a guy like Tim Tebow. He's not a great pocket passer but he's a special type of player that plays with more determination than most players in the league. I'm really hoping to see this young man succeed next season!

Bummer. I really feel that Reich would be an amazing QB Coach. He had all the knowledge and the heart and really was an overachiever. Imagine his brain in a QB like JP Losman!

Why is it unreasonable to expect a rookie DE to improve from 5.5 sacks per game? That's ok, but for starting all 16 games it's not exactly "Bruce Smith numbers"

Even on a very badly hurt ankle (which will likely require surgery) Gronk still was getting downfield. This was pretty amazing given the fact that it was pretty apparent New England downplayed his injury. He won't be going anywhere. Despite the fact he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, he has the potential to be one of the all-time greats at the position if he can stay injury-free

I think that it should be interesting to see what kind of impact former Bills TE Peter Metzelaars can bring to Bills this season. It sounds like Buffalo will -- as usual -- place a low emphasis on the Tight End position. I'm assuming though that we can atleast sign Scott Chandler for a 3 year deal at a very affordable price. I would like to see if Chandler can step up his game. He was a good target in the red zone but did very little otherwise. I am hoping that the last great Bills TE (and likely the greatest Bills TE of all time) can "coach up" Chandler. I really thought Metz would be a good hire back in December. Now if we can only bring Frank Reich on board in some capacity. Rather have him than Lee at QB Coach.

Based on the last time NE was in the SUper Bowl, I think they are concerned that they are going to lose.

Is this a joke? Ellison was one of the weak part of a defense that was bad -- sadly it wasn't as bad as this year's George Edwards led defense. Yeah that's scary

Forget it ---- no excuses. Cundiff screwed up and pretty much signaled the end of his NFL career. 32 yards? Give me a break.

How on earth are the Giants an underdog? If anything, I think New England should be. I really HOPE the Giants can pull this one off. Actually in my opinion it is their game to lose - they match up extremely well against the Patriots. Hernandez and Gronk are good but they can't flat out fly like The Freak, so I wouldn't be too concerned over the long gains given up by NYG defense. New England is going to have a very tough time defending agains the Giant receivers The tough this is that you almost can NEVER bet against Bellicheck and Brady. Hate to say it, but with a win Brady goes down as probably the best QB of all time (if he isn't considered the best already)

That's part of the reason but he didn't need to hire JMD this year, and could have waited to hire a replacement until O'Brien begins to flounder at Penn State later this year like he did with Charlie Weiss. Don't think tht there was nothing tonthe timing of he signing. The fact that McDaniels was available when they were coaching his old team was the clincher as to why he was brought back before this year.

Hope so.... Giants are the toughest matchup for The Patriots. They'll likely win against any other team left

Good points about Welker and he TE's..... Branch? The guy is a jabroni. Yeah he scored a TD against Denver but Buffalo (a bad team) scored 40 points against Denver too. A former shell of what he once was. Bad argument there.. That's like saying "Baltimore didnt have Lee Evans in '09." Brady would much rather have Jabar Gaffney than old Deion Branch.

I don't know... Buddy has not lit the world on fire the past two years and I don't think he will this year. Nick Barnett of course, is an exception. I think his goal is to find more "Nixk Barnett's" as opposed to big name FA's which is not easy to do. I see him signing more "Erik Pears" type players

This is a very valid point and it makes me think the game Is going to be a lot closer than most people think. I see New England pulling it out in the end though, because as good as Baltimore's D is going to be, I'm not sure they can shut down all of New England's offensive weapons. Also I don't have faith that Joe Flacco can shred a very maligned Patriot defense. I'm thinking BB confuses the heck outta him and he turns the ball over resulting in a loss. Don't worry folks... Our best shot as beating the Patriots are the Giants. They've beaten them at home this year and they have a much better defense that can rush the passer. Also Eli Mamming and crew are healthy and might be able to match Brady point-for-point if need be
