Of course I biased but we should hire Frank Reich as our new WR coach. He's been both a QB and WR coach during his stay in Indy. With Jim Caldwell's job up-in-the air (much like a punt from Moorman) there is a chance he becomes available this year. I think that Frank is a quality person and on top of that he seemed like the smartest player on the field in Buffalo. He just didn't have the tools like Kelly did and also many of his best years were spent on the bench up. But I think having him on the team would be good for morale and just a good decision in general!

The OP is entitled to feel whatever way he wants. Stop trying to tell him how to feel. About this team, I meant the 2011 season was disappointing. Not everyone is cool with giving this organization 20 years to get their act together....patience? Yeah right

How much do you dislike BB and Tom Brady. Their defense will be a real liability IMO when they play a better offensive team. Let's hope Baltimore or whoever comes out of the NFC light up their defense. Much like the Bills defense, when you don't turn the ball over they are a fairly crappy defense

Mularkey did use the "school" excuse but he didn't leave only to take a coordinator's job. He knew that with his strongest ally Tom Donahoe on the street, and having little confidence (and rightfully so) in the Bills administration, he decided to walk. There are ONLY 32 head coaching jobs in the NFL and literally hundreds of candidates. Think about how bad it must have been for him to walk away as head coach. Interesting theory about Marv not hiring Sherman because he thought he'd be successful, though I don't know if I'd buy it. I was more under the impression that Levy's connection to Jauron while he coached Chicago. Also wouldn't a successful Sherman command a higher salary than a desperate Dick Jauron? Most said Levy was somewhat of a figurehead and that the braintrust of Littman, Overdorff and Brandon were pulling the strings.

I don't know...Mularkey really never impressed me at the time, but I remember being extremely disappointed when Marv and his "brain trust" hired Dick Jauron when there were a lot of good coaching prospects out there. In hindsight, it probably would have been wise to give MM another year at HC. Unfortunately, I think he knew it was a situation that was impossible to succeed in, given the fact that (aside from Marv) there really was no REAL GM. He wasn't with the team when they drafted JP Losman as "QB of the Future," and I don't think he was ever sold on the idea of him as QB which is why Kelly Holcomb played so much that year.

There's an interesting article from The Bleacher Report that suggests the possibility of Dave Wannstedt taking over Chan's job. LOL he neglected defense but build a ridiculously DEEP team that went to 4 Super Bowls, and the men who worked under him helped to keep the team successful after he left. Unless Polian finds a way to get blackballed by 31 NFL teams, be will never work for Ralph Wilson again. Sadly, I can't blame the guy.

OK...so losing 8 out of the last 9 games of the season and repeatedly getting outcoached by division opponents is "headed in the right direction?" Bottom line is: Chan has one year to get it right before he and Buddy get fired (or "retires" in Buddy's case). Then we're back to "rebuilding" LOL

I didn't buy "continuity" in 2008 when they brought back Dick Jauron and I don't buy it now with Gailey. If you have a losing coach, all "continuity" leads to is more losses. The problem is that unfortunately there is a short list of coaches that want to work here in Buffalo, largely due to Ralph's decisions and the team's "culture of losing." It would be pure luck if we did find a good coach under these circumstances, but really what do we have to lose. We know what we can get out of Gailey.

I think the "top guy" he's referring to would be a big name coach and in order to bring them to Buffalo, you'd have to give them GM power as well. That means Buddy would have to resign or retire...don't think that will happen this year. 4 coaches in 8 years isn't too bad, considering a team like Denver had 3 coaches in 4 years. That won't keep coaches away. What will keep them away is the antics of Ralph and the front office over the past 12 years, as well as the questionable "desire to win."

Regarding Jerry's thoughts I agree that this is a bit too harsh. Why not use the tag on Stevie and see if he can have a "distraction" free year in 2012? Yeah it will probably cost $2-4 M more this way but we have the cap space and it could save money in the end. Did you feel good with Fitzpatrick throwing passes to the trio of David Nelson, Derek Haggan, and Ruvell Martin? Me neither...Stevie is our best WR and we need to keep him

So you think he'll release the QB? Not likely. Whether we draft a 1st round QB or not, looks like we're stuck with Fitz on the roster for the next 3 years until the second out. I really think Buddy is setting George Edwards up to be the scapegoat here, but if he does fire Chan I will have a newfound respect for the guy because it shows that he's really trying to win a Super Bowl!

10-22...that's pathetic. I do agree with the OP. We need to commit to running a 3-4 or 4-3 and then to find players that can prosper in that scheme. Defensively we need to get rid of George Edwards. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Edwards a 4-3 coach trying to run a 3-4 for the first time? Yeah he is terrible but it appears he was put in a situation he should have not been in. Resign Stevie. Absolutely - we have the money. I also want Fred and Byrd under contract. Levitre? I guess. I would like this offense to run the ball more and utilize it's two best offensive players - FJ and CJ

As long as we are playing New England (always good), Miami (what a finish to the end of the season), and the Jets (who will be average at worst). we have to be a good team to prosper. The sad thing is the season's not over yet and we're saying "wait till next year." Ugh this is as depressing as looking at the broken down factories in Western, NY

Ok the Bills are out of the playoffs for like the 12th straight year. They will probably not make the playoffs for around 15 years or so until the team is sold. So now that they are out, what NFL team will you cheer for to win the big one? My usual routine is to route for the AFC team, but to cheer on any team that's not New England or the Jets. With NYJ shooting itself in the foot, I am going to say I will cheer for Pittsburgh or Baltimore. I don't think Denver, Houston, or Cincy stands a chance to beat New England so I am pulling for the big two. Hopefully we'll get to see Lee Evans become involved in the offense. In the NFC, I really like Green Bay and New Orleans. I'd be good with either of these teams making it to the Super Bowl. Go Steelers. Go Ravens. Go Anyone by New England!

I agree 100% with you Best Player. I love how you laid everything out on the line. Going 10-6 - that is something you can build off of. 6-10 and saying well too many injuries killed us, is not something to build off. This team could go 0-16 and people would find excuses or bogus positives from a 0-16 year. There is such phony optimism in this forum that it's stench can often be repugnant. Thanks for being a breath of fresh air.
