I respect your posts, I disagree with what you are saying. as president of anything a football team or a widget maker. The buck stops at the president. he takes the fall, he gets the big paycheck. Are you really saying Brandons role was to hop on the corporate jet and sit there? because in my experience if a president just delegates to others without his very powerful input. bad things can happen. In reality Brandon was there in Ralph's absence. if you remember a lot here (not me) thought the Marrone syracuse hire was a Brandon crony hire. designed to stretch his regionalization tasks. Nix IMO at that point was borderline incompetent, Whaley was along for the ride. Is it really up to those people to make such a crucial hire? i just do not think so. overdorf writes the paper contracts, I have no doubt Brandon knew what he could spend from Ralph. Overdorf executes it. Thats why Kelly left the room after most likely every bills rep fell out of there seats with not only his salary demand but his power demands. Enter Marrone tied with three others as the lowest paid HC in the NFL. -

OK I get it. he is a puppet and a yes man. You make good points! And yes in the end just what Ralph demanded . Since, a executive and football mind not afraid to speak his mind like Parcells wouldn't have lasted A month with the bIlls. in the end with Russ we get what we paid for. A yes man. With a education in marketing. And a crap football team for the entire 21 st century. Here is just one, on the last HC search three people were there as the main interviewers. Brandon was one of them. if he made zero decisions why would he be there? Who do you thnk held the checkbook? is that not a football decision? -

Nice too see he has his supporters. here are some facts. They are not made up, and easily found in a google search. As a marketing guy I would hire him. As a football mind and ability to identify football people he is very low on the franchise building chain. His results are indisputable. Since Russ Brandon was promoted in 2006 he has presided over the longest current playoff drought in the NFL. he was onboard way earlier before that promotion. Did his work have a hand in Buffalo remaining a NFL city? YES! Here is the teams numbers under his watch. A 382 winning percentage. The team has given up 531 more points than scored. Theres more but stats aren't the discussion point here. yea Ralph re hired Marv, and others. Does anyone think Brandon's opinion was not asked for? Does anyone think Marvs GM stint did not have promotional, nostalgic, and in part was used to move "inventory". yes it did just like the TO signing. And the selling of a home game. Nothing about winning, everything about the bottom line. I really have no issue with Brandon as long as he concentrates on selling seats. I believe with zero evedince and it is just my opinion the Pegulas may be thnking the same thing. For him I wish he takes another position and probably will because of his diminished role with new ownership. As I am sure his parachute is golden. -

What credit in your opinion does he deserve on the football side of operations? Hiring a staff that finally beat the pats* jv squad? i thought Belicheck might fall asleep in the 4 th quarter. So that got the team to 9-7 depsite the horrid coachng on offense. Remember he signed off as CEO on those hirings. BTW please point out where I ever used the word " hate"l I did not. I will contend he SUCKS as a football mind. As A busness man he is good. How about that TO signing. That sold some of his " inventory" didn't it? Trouble was the team still sucked. -

well that may have been true during the Wilson era. But if I read it correctly, he is no longer CEO. Kim Pegula is.That in the business world is a huge loss of power. he is now president. he also is puported to be headed to strictly the business side of the team. Right where he belongs. Running the football side, his hires, etc. are not his strongpoint. I am being kind there. Every second of this long period of stink, has been under his watch one way or the other. He hires cronies and they are not the best available. Or like he said during the head coach search two years ago. " we will leave no stone unturned" Marrone had some buzz but they really interviewed three people. The chip Kelly interview lasted all of fifteen minutes. hardly a in depth search for a franchise with one of the worst records in all of sports. As usual with the Wilson ownership people like Brandon, Littman, and Overdorf had way to much concern with the money as opposed to buildng a winner. The end results bear this out. I wish him luck if he stays on as a business person. if he leaves I along with many others would be thrilled. he regionalized the franchise. His work is done. I am sure he wants power and better things. IMO the Pegula family may have other ideas. -

So in your opinion repeating something long enough is then accepted as truth? Show a link where that is " truth". -

True, but the local economy comes into play here. Club seat revenues I believe are not shared. We saw depending on the opponent hundreds if not well over a thousand empty clubs every gamel. Even the Pats* game around us there were hundreds of empty seats, a lot of the others were filled with pats* fans. Good thng they do not count against a sellout. That in a small way negates the old stadium arguement. No idea how many empty corporate boxes there are. but, I would guess they are not sold out. None of this has anythng to do with an old stadium that I Am aware of? i don't think a crappy team does either. it's the spending power in WNY. -

No I do not think he is a victim anymore than than Urbik (yes he sucked this year) riding the pine for a half season when he was the better guard than the starter(s). i think Marrone in some areas still has a college coaches mindset, but I am speculating. -

Love the Carpenter pick, but do not understand the M. Williams comment since Maroon has always been so vague. Couldn't play the slot? Didn't fit? Then why trade for him? i would assume the years of game film showed his skill sets. he was also retunring too play for his college coach. Good thing we have so many red zone threats, maybe that is the reason. Distraction Doug? yea must have been the red sox. i think he got screwed. But we may never know. -

Never heard the Bills had cash flow issues? In fact Ralph turned a nice profit before he flecced Toronto. If your talking regionilization didn't need the Toronto fleccing at all. That Was strictly a money grab. -
regarding the O-line. hard to put a good one togeher when Whaley for two years running signs busts, rejects and bottom of the dumpster FA's. Also, the scouting dept. Leaves a lot to be desired with their 2nd round pick. Score a D for Whaley there.

Really PTR? How many Toronto games did you go to ? How many did we win? I guess you like selling off home field advantage? For the almighty buck!Oh, and he sucked as a GM at least Ralph figured that out quick. -

Russ, best of luck. And please clean out your desk by Monday. Maybe tou can sell precious home games for the Raiders to Tijuana? Yes, your crowning achievement in Buffalo selling off home field advantage. The stink and failure here since you arrived in Buffalo will quickly be forgotten. A true member of the old guard club, maybe Overdorf will go with you. You deserve each other. -
Schwartz as a head coach? One winning season in five. i would call that record a nightmare not a dream.

This comes as no surpise at all. Goddel's and the NFL's main job is making $$ for the owners and ratings. In this case he gets both. The douche should be fned 500K and 4 game suspension. You Got to hope they meet again in the playoffs now. If it would have been a regular game suspension it never would be overturned.

Who is the best Quarterback coach available?
Best Player Available replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yea, just like a "top" coach helped Fitz if I remember correctly. he also helped Brad Smith with the wildcat, what a waste. i think when you hit the pro level accuracy, etc. typically is in place. if you don't have it, whoever scouted the player should get a pink slip.
