Very nice, but I still like MJD's blast on Shawne Merriman from last season better.

Why no one should be worried about the Jets...
R. Rich replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, it was more dollars and cents than anything as to why they couldn't keep him. Did you see the bonus money Roethlisberger got? I'm guessing that has a LOT to do w/ why they didn't give him an offer. He knew this going into last year, which is why he said it was his final year in Pittsburgh. He knew firsthand 'bout how Pittsburgh deals w/ the cap. Usually, they just use the draft to stock their team w/ talent, and they do it as good as any team in the league. This time, they had to prioritize which of their talented players they could afford to let go and which they needed to re-sign. I can only guess they looked @ the performance of Chris Kemoeatu and said they had a better chance of starting him in front of Roethlisberger than they did of retaining Faneca to block for Charlie Batch. I've watched quite a few of their games too, as my wife is a diehard Stiller fan so we record the games we don't attend (usually @ least one home game per year). That team struggled for many years to find a quarterback they can win w/. When they got Roethlisberger, I kinda figured they would break the bank (very un-Stiller like) to keep him, as they don't have the proven track record @ QB that they do @ other positions in regard to drafting replacements. -

I guess my football knowledge ain't quite what it was either, 'cause I think Faneca is way better than your take on him. Have I watched any Stiller football? Well, maybe a game or two over the past few years. Human turnstile? Considering how he had to cover for a pathetic excuse for a center in Sean Mahan and an extremely unstable situation @ left tackle w/ injuries to Marvel Smith and w/ the team scrambling to replace him (Willie Colon, who I still feel is better suited inside @ guard much like Langston Walker, was even used there....yikes!), it's not so cut and dried in terms of Faneca's or the line's performance in pass protection. The decision not to keep Faneca had way more to do w/ the big contracts that Troy Polamalu and Ben Roethlisberger got than it did any dropoff in Faneca's play. Overall, he's as complete a guard as you'll find in the league: a devastating run blocker who can hold his own (but not TWO teammates' own as well) in pass blocking. -
True, YOU would, but Stiller fans have been in a similar situation in regard to QBs that Bills fans have been in w/ the O line. After years of so-so play from the position (other than a few decent seasons from Brister, a good season from Maddox and a couple pretty good seasons from Stewart), they finally have themselves a QB that can lead them. I have to think that the Bills will value Peters enough to work out a deal w/ him. I don't know if it'll happen on our timeline (any time in the next 8 seconds), but I do think it will happen.

I want to see Jason Peters back in camp as much as you do. I also want the Bills and Peters to actually come to an agreement on a long term deal to keep him here. The problem is, seemingly, that neither side wants to be perceived as "giving in". I would've loved for him to voice his displeasure w/ his contract situation while continuing to practice/play. Alan Faneca did so in Pittsburgh and while the Stillers were not able to keep him (some idiot figured that giving big money to a couple All Pro guys like Polamalu-a safety, fer crying out loud and Roethlisberger were more important than keeping one All Pro lineman), he did get the big payday he so desired. To me, this isn't a case of being pro Jason Peters or pro Bills management. Both sides need to meet in the middle and do what's right. Good luck w/ that, though.

Well, I guess if you want quirks, the Miami show is for you. If you want dumba** storylines and lighting by David Fincher, the Vegas show is up your alley. The New York show has so far managed to stay away from quirks (Caruso and his shades, Emily Procter and her cornpone accent) and hasn't gone to those "out there" storylines like Vegas just yet.
-
Maybe so, but he's a pretty good speller.

They had so many different ponies they used in those times, it's tough to remember each one by name.
-
Maybe they should just end the show. It's gotten progressively worse over the past few years anyway. The New York version is their best show overall, but I like the quirkiness of the Miami show too.

Throwdown with Bobby Flay - Buffalo Wings

Not that there's anything wrong w/ that... -
Please check our forum for updated information.

Not necessarily. The Bills used Antoine Winfield on the outside @ times, but also used him inside on the slot receiver in certain nickle/dime packages. Versatility is the key, and McKelvin seems to have good versatility, so he may be used inside and outside.

There are two that have plenty of room: R. Rich's Buffalo Bills League Yahoo! ID# 161410 Password: buf08letsgo Online draft date: 08/24/08 @ 10:30am EST TBD2 (Please user your TBD username as your team name) Yahoo! ID# 161425 Password: bruuuce09 Online draft date: 08/17/08 @ 12:30pm EST I have sent email invites to those of you who participated in these leagues last season and have gotten a few responses. These leagues are now open to anyone who wants to join up. I may also have 5 spots open in another private league, but they are pending the responses of email invites. Once we get closer to that league's draft date, I'll open up those slots too if there's no response from last year's players.

Oh lookie; Glenn has the first response in a thread 'bout Guinness. Shocking.

Sounds like just another day @ Two Bills Drive.

Who's Marshal Faulk?

I like candy.

Exactly. I new that when they couldn't get Robin Williams to do the part and then signed Carrey that it would be a Frank Gorshin-esque portrayal, which is really not like the comic book Riddler. The best example is John Glover's portrayal in the animated Batman series. That Riddler was great.

Peters may be willing to sit all season

While McNeill did make the Pro Bowl last year, it was only 'cause of Ogden's injury. I think he took a small step back in play, but I do think he's a very good young OL, as long as he can stay healthy. Speaking of staying healthy... He's got the tools to be a dominant OT for years to come, but he's been struggling w/ injuries for the past 5 years. I hope all of these guys usher in a new era of dominant tackles. It would be nice to see guys like Travelle Wharton, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, and even Levi Jones (if he's done getting sucker punched @ casinos) step up to their level.
