  1. As I said, I do like the guy and he would be an excellent addition to any defense. But, if people believe his presence alone will make our LBs and DEs play the run better (these guys have fundamental flaws in their technique) or drop back and defend RBs and TEs in the flat better, then they're kidding themselves. It's better to hope for a stud DT to go along w/ the Bills' current crop of LBs and DEs getting their collective heads out of their collective a**es, buckling down, and doing a better job of handling the basics of their position. 'Til that happens, don't expect much out of the Bills' front 7.
  2. Having a 2 gapper in there (that's Raji) would certainly help our run defense and could also free up our LBs to do more in terms of coverage and rushing. Problem is, we've seen fundamental problems w/ our LBs and DEs over the last few years in terms of poor pursuit angles, lack of discipline (chasing plays down the line instead of "staying home" on reverses), slow reaction time in terms of dropping back to defend the pass, and drag down tackling instead of hitting through a player and bringing him down for little to no gain. Not much a massive 2 gapper can do to change that stuff, unfortunately.
  3. NO!!! Damn them. Well, Shonn Greene is pretty good, I'd say.
  4. Honestly, I don't see it being an issue, Pete.
  5. He sure would. No question. I just didn't want people thinking that he was a pocket collapsing interior pass rusher.
  6. Jason Smith is looking pretty impressive to me (also a decent sounding guy from his interview on Sirius a few days ago), but he'll probably be gone by the 11th pick.
  7. I like Raji a lot, but he's not a pass rushing interior lineman. He's more in the mold of a Casey Hampton, Vince Wilfork type: clog up the A gap and tie up blockers. For that reason, he's tailor made for teams looking for a dominant 3-4 NT.
  8. It would be the AD who would pull the trigger and the media relations/sports info guy who would relay it to the media. No GMs in college.
  9. Yeah, what a tool. The guy answers questions straightforward, and tries to inspire players w/ his enthusiasm. He has no place in today's NFL.
  10. He is the best AFC redzone runner.
  11. Good luck. I hope you find it.
  12. I thought that he was in line for an O coordinator job somewhere. Maybe w/ the Jets, if they can get Tannenbaum to let go of Schottenheimer?
  13. Yeah, I knew 'bout Saban's connection to Brown. He's long been considered part of Brown's coaching tree along w/ Parseghian, Shula, Gilman, Tiger Johnson, and his Cincy proteges like Wyche and Walsh (was surprised to read of the "issues" 'tween he and Brown).
  14. What 'bout him? ...said the season ticket holder to Ralph Wilson...
  15. Not to mention all of the talent up front they had and the defensive talent. But, perhaps the biggest advantage they had was Paul Brown, the best coach pro football has seen.
  16. So, "that school" is ready to buy out that ridiculous contract they gave to Weis, huh?
  17. I don't think he's great, but I also don't see how he can be considered a "bust" either (I explained why in a prior post). There is middle ground 'tween "he sucks" and "he's great". Most fans tend not to realize this.
  18. They discussed Lavelli briefly on Sirius this morning. Peter King was saying he was one of the NFL's early deep threats (not to the level of Don Hutson, but still very dangerous). I don't know a whole heck of a lot 'bout his career other than he was Otto Graham's favorite target. They say he was a very nice person also. Rest in peace, Dante.
  19. Suggs would be a better option, as he not only can rush the passer from the OLB position or the DE position (a HUGE need for the Bills), but can also drop back and cover the pass extremely well (another glaring need, as our LBs leave a lot to be desired in pass coverage).
  20. Really? In the past 5 seasons, Jones has rushed for nearly 6,000 yards and his yards per rush average has been @ or near 4.0 (4.0 to 4.3 to 4.1 to 3.6 to 4.5) each season. Who is labeling that kind of production a bust? I don't think he's the greatest back in the league or anything, but to say he's a "bust" is nonsense.
  21. Either @ work, asleep, or bowling.
  22. Getting his guys to play hard for him is the first step. If he can accomplish that (see Cardinals, Arizona), good things will come of it.
  23. And the slow, talentless Jim Leonhard.
  24. Oh no; there's a blizzard going on in Baltimore! Close the schools! Close all the businesses! Run to the store and stock up on toilet paper, milk, and bread! There has to be, like, half an inch of snow on the ground already!!
