Anyone else feeling like they just don't care?
B-Large replied to xsoldier54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Im not even sure who were playing this week. I stopped going to the bar to watch after the Falcons game. Im looking forward to FA and the draft again. -
Cutler will end up on the Titans. He went to Vanderbuilt, he has a home in Nashville, they have some excellent young wide receivers and he woudl be a god in that town...

Budget Compromise Reached?
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Most Americans polled do not want SS or Medicare cut, and perfer not to see big cuts in Military spending. Without addressing those the balanced budget talk is useless... we will continue to spend, borrow to make up the difference and keep the guise of low taxes for Americans until the point that interest expense forces us to default or kick people off programs or cut Defense dramatically. I think it was George Will on one of the Sunday morning politics show who said something roughly: American Govt does Comprehensive Poorly, but Handles Crisis Effectively. We will deal with the debt when it is in crisis mode, no sooner IMHO -
Budget Compromise Reached?
B-Large replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Until there are substantial changes to Medicare/Medicaid, SSN or Defense Spending outlays, OR we decide we are actually going to collect dollar for dollar from Americans tax payers to pay for every cent of Government spending, its all window dressing. Keep borrowing, keep spending, keep adding up the LTD. exactly, great deal for photo ops, essentially changes nothing wiht the problem -
"There are few electronic payment systems in Canada that are affordable and widely used, he said, and billing and receiving payments in the mail remains the lifeblood of many small businesses." My landscaper sends me his invoices for services electronically with a payment system link. It can't be that expensive if a guy who drives a 25 years old truck that smells like fresh cut kentucky blue can do it. I assume as Candian Post prices rise, the electronic systems will become more attractive cost wise. I honestly question any business I deal with that doesn't have any kind of electronic bill pay. Come to think of it, they guy who services our furnace does estimates on his ipad while he is on site, send them, schedules repairs and invoices all paperless..

Santa Needs Your Help...Save Christmas!!!

I don't disgree. But the goal was and "actionable decision" by targeting Children, in that sense, the tactic was the same. Not justifing the intent so to speak. -

Brilliant ad campaign. McDonalds has built an empire on marketing bad food to Children. It may be bad taste, buts its still brilliant. -
A few thoughts: - I don't think people working those jobs, and the skills associated with those jobs need to make $15 an hour. Kids working part time should be doing those jobs, and get benefits from their employed parents. - It makes me sad that in America, McDonalds and Walmart have been career option for low education workers, and that those are the only jobs they can find and actually get. - What pisses me off if Walmart makes Billions upon Billlons for the Waltons and Investors, but can't provide an employee with even a basic managed care plan, thereby we all get to subsidized the wealth with our tax dollars. To top it off, is that Americans know this fact, and continue to shop there... stop spending money there American, all of the sudden Walmart responds with better treatment of employees. We have the power to make real change, were just lazy and have deferred to Government i many cases. - I don't go near a Walmart or McDonalds.. low quality cheap junk just isn't my thing... I'd like to see more Americans desire better as well.

The Affordable Care Act is Coming Home to Roost
B-Large replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
everybody like their horse to win, I guess. But they all essentially get us to the same place. If Romney repealed and signed the PCA into law right now, Democrats and ACA supporters would be tearing down the interwebs in outrage... it would actually have been fun to watch... I am getting tired of dicussing the healthcvare reform issue, the only thing that is going to work in the US in the most expensive, most convoluted boondoggle of a healthsystem that likely will not meet measruables of other first world countries.... I get to see it everyday, most people are so !@#$ing confused about how providers and hospitals work, what is actually in their insurance plans and what is covered and what is not.. and don't get me started on when they get their bills that doesn't even have a description of service on it.... I have little faith care and deliver will get that much better no matter what we pass... I guess call me pessimitic ** Out of curiosity, and be honest, did you hate Medicare Part D when Georgie passed it? I know my Democrat friends were... now it works, helps seniors and I don't think has been over budget (Although it was passed unfunded) -

the plans, whether it be the ACA, the AEI's Best of Both Worlds and Ryan's Pateints Choice Act are essentially built on the same platforms.. small differences in verbage, but they are essentially all the same plan. Guaranteed Insurance Coverage bought on State Exhanges from Private Insurance Companies. If the AEI bill was law, I'd be happy. If the PCA was passed into law, I'd be happy. The ACA is in place, I'm happy. If we had a single payor in place, I's be more happy. But a dog and pony show extravaganza about how "different" they are, I will not be watching. is the same principle as Americans how getting $1.00 of Governemnt for $.60. When you are not writing the check, paying the bill, it doesn't seem all that expensive. What were going to see here in America is citizens getting a good look at the true cost of our HC system. Its expensive, it usually has the best drugs and machines, and the best MD's. Its expensive, we are going to see it, and if Americans want care, they will have to budget more of their money to get it. It might be what finally does us in, sadly. -

They are getting more protections in their policies... I won't argue that they are more likely to pay more. Again, people often don't want to pay for ****, but they want all the benefits when they need them... now they have the beneifts and are paying for them. -

In States that determined to make it work, it is working. I empathize with people in need who live in States where their Conservative representation chose to make a point, and faulty one in my opinion, rather than taking a run at making this work for their State. Rather ironic considering that Conservatives value States Rights, and liberals are more comfortbale with Central Planning, that the result has been just the opposite. I am not making excuses for the website rollout, I don't know anything about computer systems, but the deliver has been awful. I blame the President that he was not more engaged in this rollout so that would be operational and funcational day one.. if it were my legacy on the line, on my signature legislative achevement, you best best it would be not only functional, but easy to use with a big red bow on it. That being said, I do believe at the end of the day people will get covered and this law will be a success, much to the chagrin of conservatives... If it does not last, does not make it, I do hope States who have the Exchanges in place and working will be able to adopt the ACA reforms for their State... I will just always live in a State that has the reforms i place... I can live wiht that. *** and where you as outraged prior to 2008 when a kid with Kidney failure was dropped from insurance coverage, or his his lifetime limit, or his parent did have a job and couldn't get insurance after COBRA ran out. I assume you did, right? then buy a plan that includes your Doctor. That is pretty easy, right? Most MD are not going to be able to survive without seeing patinets with private medical coverage, right? I guess if your doctor does a concierge medical practice then you will have ot make the choice to pay the retainer, but you will still have to have insurance coverage for specialists and other care. Buy a plan that included doctors you like is not a new concept, though these stories lead us to believe otherwise. -

Yes, but everybody gets sick, and most of those people want treatment for it. You can choose to have a car or not, but you can't chose to have a body- All I ask is for YOU to cover your risk of gettign sick so the rest of don't have to pay for it, -

thanks B, I appreciate it- while we rarely agree on policy, I happen to agree about this! She made multiple attempts while she had her company and after she sold- all but one company outright refused to write a policy on her, and like I said the one that did excluded a ton of stuff. Now, she is not a great example because she has very health resources and could pay out of pocket to a large extent... but she is no dummy, at her age and Medicare in the not so distant future, a new policy even if more expensive makes alot of sense. We are nipping your heels, its only a matter of time. Though you gusy do have an edge with that open border with the motherland... Agreed, its a great suggestion- I know I got my life insurance in place asap whe I got married, good thing too, got a diagnoses 6 months later that probably excludes me now. I figured you were talking about Universal Life of Variable Life, I think they hold cash value- money that might be able to used for Medical Expenses? -

My Aunt had a horrific policy that cover very little because she was self-employed and had an "inconclusive MRI" for headaches 10 years ago. her policy had exclusions to any condition regarding the head/neck area (i don't recall the exact verbage) She has signed up for a new policy which will indeed cost her more money, but it is without exclusion and covers expenses after her large deductible. She was a case where she saw the old plan being cancelled a plus, even in lieu of the money. She is more bent about her outrageous California Water Bill, which I guess is extremely expensive. swing and a miss. maybe you can come out to Colorado, we'll get you set up with some Recreational, get that sense of humor fine tuned. -

What good is a plan that doesn't have your back when you need it? that sounds like a scam, not a benefit contract And way to focus on he minutea of people who have non-compliant plans, and ignore all the other reforms that will benfit 300+ Americans... but, please continue to nickpick and find items that fit your agenda. -

B- the ACA is the Hertitage Foundation's framework, a conservative think tank, so we can agree the basis of HCR was founded in conservative ideals. Also, let's remeber at the healthcare summit, John Boehner, one of the most repsected R in leadership, came to that meeting with a blank piece of paper, literally and kept saying "Start Over"... The only plan I have seen come out in full, written form was from the American Enterprise Institute 3 years after HCR passed... I posted it here, it have very similar reforms, I to be honest I would have been fine with that plan as well. And lets be accurate, the Website Healthcare.org is !@#$ed up and embrassing, but the reforms made to the Healthcare systems overall are going to help alot of people. The website, !@#$ed up.. the reforms, good.
