  1. I've had LED for a long time now. Less Heat, and they never go out.
  2. If you have in Outtie, got to the Boys room. If you have an Innie but always thought you should have an Outtie, Boys Room. Do I have that right? I guess I am just glad I am not a kid, nor will have any of my own.
  3. OC, Cat plans still have monthly premium payments, deductibles and you can cover expenses with tax advantages HSA's/ Flex Spending. You can still buy plans that are very high deductible and you pay a ton out of pocket for expenses before your plan pays the 80%. We have a CAT plan on out open enrollment, monthly premium plus $5k dedictible.... the only real change to CAT plans with the ACA is that some preventative services will cost you zero, and the carrier is by law not allowed to charge you for them- as you now the thinking is more people will get prevention services, althoguht I am not convinced of that fact in totality, I think come people actively keep healthy others go to the doctor when they have lump or cough and money is a side thought. Also, here's food for thought: Why do HSA contribution need to be tax advantaged at all? Why can't people in the US do anything for themselves a politican handing our tax gifts? Interesting, I think. There is zero, zero political or practical upside to the Republican party to see the ACA succeed in any way shape or form. It why I spend as much time as possible, when I am asked, to clarify the good and bad for people about the ACA as it related to them, so at least the are prepared with actual facts instead of the often crazy fear campaign that exists in most media outlets. The hospital has done and excellent job of preparing employee to discuss it... I do however concede, there is ALOT to know, and its not always straight forward.
  4. So many strange things inthat article, its hard to decided where to begin. First, should be like Walmart, Southwest Airlines and Apple? When will be get our head around the concept that these comparisons, while offered as parralell and relevant are anyting but. If I don't want a $500 I-pad, I just don't buy it. I don't want to fly to see family, I don't book a ticket. I don't want to buy insurance to cover my health risk, and I get thyroid cancer and need sugery and radioactive iodine therapy, guess what, I still get it and everybody lese gets to pay for it. We're not a Nation that lets people just die int he streets now mater how popular that hyperbole is during policy discussion.. Also, I don't remember Walmart, Apple or SWAL offering life saving services that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars... it this basic premise that while we want to have competition in Healthcare, from facilties to providers, it will never behave alike a free market unless we go stricktly to a cash, pay as you go system- but sadly, 95% of Americans can do that, and we don't want to let people die. Healthcare is different, to pretend it is not in the basis for continuing expensive, inefficeint and conculved payment and delievry systems. Degulate and take away State based insurance oversight and regulation? So now we want to give the Federal Government more power over healthcare, and replace the oversight enumerated to State Health/ Insurance depts? I like the idea of portability alot, but when you have naiton health plans, what difference does Aetna, UCH and Humana really do, what service to the provide, what Value do the create that a single payor would not? Its a payment mechanism, what reason is there to have a middle man that costs more? One payment source, a National Med Record system that all provider can access so we don't have to print out reams full of documents when a pateint gets referred to a specialist? "People want to buy this insurance, and companies want to sell it"- really, I thought yougn healthy people won't buy what they don't need? How did that change? Under another GOP health reform law, do we really think all of the sudden young people will be jazzed up to do their duty, but that policy they don't need, and what us think it will be that much less expensive anyway? Premium will still be there, deductible will still be there... and what is considered "affordable and attractive" to young people?
  5. Income Inequality and Assault Rifle- two of my favoritest, completely political, lack of any real meaning words. As far as changes in wealth distribution in this Nation, I refer to George Will who said "This Nation in excellent at creating Wealth, horrendous at spreading it around" I don't in 2013 going onto 2014 there could be a truer statement.
  6. No, the reposnsiblity was then on the City and the Developer. They acted with the utmost integrity, building a fine residential neighborhood for unsuspecting hardworking Americans to buy into. I mean yes the puddle in the streets during a hard rain were red and burned a kids foot, but thats normal, right? So who eventually was liable for that mess?
  7. I assume given a pretty high tarriff (Pun Not Intended) on the Rec in Colorado, alot of green thumbs will learn to grow some crops. Alot of people will go retail to avoid the effort, but you can have alot of MJ at home if you are organixed and diligent.
  8. People are funny about environmental risks. For example, we have a newly developed housing neighborhood called Stapleton, after the old Stapleton airport. It has become kind of a posh, uppermiddle class nesting place for white liberals. There is very high demand for homes, they resell immediately, the schools are supposed to be very good, everybody has two white children and a chocolate lab... you get the picture. So my wife looked at houses there when they were first building- she got an Environemtnal Reports that was 4 inches thick and alot of warnings in it.. she decided to not buy there because of what she read... other people, some freinds have bought there and consider themselves very strong pro-enviornmental regulation and protection... quite the irony. I do believe most businesses have the core belief that they should refrain from delveratly and knowingly posison their customers... there are a minority that know risks and hide them delberartly (Everybody here loves the NFL, they withheld very important consussion research.. nobody wants them gone) I imagine he means the historical context of how that came to be, who let Oxy bury there... I don't actually know the story...
  9. Givers are usually one of two kinds, Back-for-the-Buck and Heartstrings... he's a Back-for-the-Buck kind of guy, nothing wrong with that.
  10. ...made me laugh....
  11. Its an interesting scenario testing bias, that is why I posted it. I assume anti-gay rhetoric is seen the same whether it from a Creole or Muslim. Both see Homosexuals is less that positive terms based on their religious dogma... maybe Muslims and their treatmnt of them is even worse.,, but I assume that both parties, being the network and right group would react the same.
  12. If A&E had a bang-up hit show that featured a Muslim Family that said in an episode that said Christians were against Allah therefore heathens (Stupid example because I think of one specifically, but you get the point I am making) for example... but were otherwise peaceful tax paying Americans.. and A&E pulled the father of that show for his anti-religious comments.... would conservatives be stepping in for the free speech, freedome of associaion defense they have set behind Mr. Robertson? Would Mr. Jindhal come out and speak on thier behalf?
  13. No different than Paula Dean, really.. You have the personal freedom for the most part to say what you want, but Networks and advertisers don't have to support it nor the show... Most people don't want to hear it, entertainers don't want to promote it, and that is fine with me... But to make this some big political referendum on Free Speech and Freedom in General is, well, entertaining...
  14. A&E cared. I certainly don't, and didn't care for the show.
  15. no doubt. I am actually suprised this is the first snag with the show.... it was just a matter of time I suppose.
  16. Plans before the ACA didn't typically pay for routine care other than the State you resided in and in your local network of providers- now for some PPO plans that might have been different, but that didn't really cause people not to move or travel. All plans tended to Emergency Care with the United States. But if you travel, you buy insurance for care in other countries, or at least I always have. Not having a National System is what sucks. Next Year I will likely be spending a year in Maine, but maintaining permanent residence in Colorado. So where do I buy my insurace plan, Colorado or Maine? Because my place of Residence is in Colorado, I will probably have to buy in Colorado- which means I don't have coverage outside of Emergency Care in the State of Maine... Single Payor would be so much easier in this repect. Would a true conservative skip buying coverage for the family, and then show up for care on other people's dime if their kids got sick, or would they stick to their guns and if they didn't have the ablity to pay and couldn't find charity, let their kid potentially die?
  17. Ted Cruz should know better, he is a briliant man... but he to understands that most Americans can be persuaded that this was Big Brother that shut down Robertson, and will not question otherwise. Its all about Politics.
  18. the Government didn't shut Robertson down, it was his boss, they guy who runs the show, A&E No government controversy here, moving on... Its up to A&E if they want to promote that kind of rhetoric, it appears they do not.
  19. a few thoughts: 1. roughly 50% of Americasn will hate the ACA, even if they have little understanding of what it does, what is changes or how it positvely/negaitvely affects them- we're in a hyperpatisan environment, I am not sure I expected anything less- it does make The Five fun to watch though, they love to bash the ACA and sure do having the talking points nailed down like a well built deck. 2. Most of Democratic voting friends dislike the ACA very much. They also don't tend to know anything about it, at least the details, they see it as a gift to insurance companines. They typically cite a move to Single Payors and steamling the convoluted, twisted mess we have now would have been a much better option, I agree, but they are usually unaware that it was Democratic Elelcted Officials that made that mission impossible. 3. My place personally is better because of the ACA, and while I prefer single payor, I work the compromise. 4. All Reforms for the Healthcare system are essentially the same. Private Insurance, Deductibles, HSA's... same reforms to policies and bad insurance pratices, and the same crap would have happened it were a GOP plan that passed, only MSNBC would be melting down and tearing down the law. I just imagine sometimes if George Bush signed the ACA... Democrats would be popping their lids. R's would be celebrating the miraculous nature of the free market, and I would feel just about the same.
  20. January 1 it becomes legal here. I think I will go buy some just to support the law, but will probably give it to my buddy who loves the ****. I'd rather just keep my addiction to good Bourbon Whiskey
  21. I just believe in equality, thats all... lol
  22. Juan = Gatorman's gay lover, twin, or second Screen Name.. Also, you're all !@#$ing idiots... That is all
  23. - Hey you sign a waiver to indicate you forgoe any treatment you cant afford to pay for, and that may results in very early death, and change the law to hold people to that, I don't really care if you have insurance them- cheaper for the rest of us insured. - Capitalist- There is trllions being spent in Healthcare every year, people are making money hand over first. That sounds capitalist to me. - Your last part got me in the Christmas spirit- your stories of empathy and compassion will really make me reflect on Christ's Birthday- thank you
  24. well, Medicare/Welfare and SS are mandatory spending, so you can't change outlays on those without law chabges that would reform them and change the fiscal outlays. that leave discretionary spending which is 31% of the Federal Budget and that includes Miltary (which is 57% of that piece), Education, Agriculture, Housing, etc. The other is 7% tha in interest in the debt, which to me is mandatory spending (though some may argue perhaps not). So it is pretty easy to conclude that you need to cut outlays in SS, Healthcare of Miltary to have a shot at hitting a balanced budget based on current tax receipts, and the threshold of what Americans are wiling to pay in taxes.
