I love my family and friends, but I abhor hearing this type of stuff. What really pisses me off is when they go on about Liberal causes and raising taxes and such... seriously, how hypocritical can you be? If you are a Liberal and support social welfare, etc, how can you honestly look in the mirror and do things knowingly that skip out on taxes... and one of them called me specifically about voting for Prop 66 to raises taxes for schools... !@#$ that. I know I support HCR and vote Democrat for now, but I have no tolerance of that ****, and if anything, don't advertise it!

Should we feel sorry for these people?

Most of the people I deal with at the hospital a very affluent, and getting remarried to younger spouse if very common, and having kids 30 years apart is not uncommmen. the only good thing is they will leave large amount of reources to those children so they don;t become someone elses problem. -
Is it really any different than my cousin who writes off vacations on her taxes because she claims she was at a conference for work, when I know damn well we didn;t spend a minute sober the whole time, and there were no conferences in town? Is it any different than my wife's aunt and uncle who claim they give thousands to Goodwill every year, year after year? Is it any different than my friends who pay their Full Time Nanny under the table, when she gets Subsidized Housing, got a Taxpayer funded Spine Fusion and 2 months of disability, and my friends brag about getting "creative" on their taxes with their accontant? Its all the same mentality, shameful.

Most Americans are Retards, haven't we proved this premise over and over and over again on this board? -

I recognize people are partisan, I don't complain about it. People can be as partisan as they want, and again, root for failure. -

http://connectforhealthco.com/ Colorado's working just fine. Maybe if the States who refused to help in the process put in the effort to make this a go, we wouldn't have so many issues. But I guess rooting for failure has become the American way for some of us... -

we already have protocols in place for colds, flu and UTI's for the nurses to follow. Right now, King Soopers. Walgreens and Walmart are all opening "little clinics" that are being staffed by PA's and NP's... $30, seen for colds, ear aches, sports exams, allergies, simple stuff. and I am not so sure about the running to the MD for the sniffles notion... its a pain in the ass to go the Doctor, make an appointment int he middle of the day, they copay is $30-$50.... the pain in the ass factor coupled with simple changes in triage alleviate more non-acute, simple condition to be treated over the phone or by PA/NP. will Obamacare be covering this benefit? -

You're not correct, and you're not going to be to go read the Law or even research any tutorials on the law, so why get into this. If you want to believe it does nothing to improve access and quality, its your right to believe whatever you want. So the Republican plan was to sell Insurance across State lines, have HSA's be a mainstay, and have risk pools for people with pre-exsiting conditions... does that improve care, or was that a coverage plan?? Truth is, the GOP or the ACA had writers that were policy wonks and care experts, both Bills had the goal of improving quality, better utilizing capacity and building for better access. Again, you want to be a partisan, that's fine, it a message board we waste time on. But I do encourage everyone regrdless of politics read the Law, there are things in there that no question will help you and your family. -

Gary, let be real for a minute- the ACA did not initiate the Primary Care MD shortage, it has been happening for decades. There was a RN shortage for a long-time, incentives were put in place to get more RN in training, the same will happen with primary care. -

Sure it does, you just choose to not read the Law. Boehner and his caucus made their point and created the contrast they wanted.... it is worse for the GOP now to see default... raise the ceiling and lets move on. -

my question was about the "Across State Lines" notion, I underlined it, and noone has ever articulated how it would lower cost of care, other than that is creates "competition"... but compaines rate by State and don't compete for sick people. I don't think anyone would debate the pre-existing condition effort. -
Does POTUS Really Think We Are This Stupid?
B-Large replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So Obama gives them something unrealted while protecting his crowning domestic achievement... what is so bad about that, he has already won for all intents and puposes, now he needs to end it... let the voters decide if what the GOP gets was worth all the fighting and the Goevrnmnent shut down... Also, what did anyone expect with the ACA? did we really think we would shutter a multi-billion $ insurance industry? And by the way, not one R voted on the ACA... if you want to discuss compromise with big business, lets discuss the part line vote for it, and why they killed the PO and didn't take the Bill further... blame Nancy of all people.... Supermajority Democrats delivered the ACA, any problems with it is with Democrats. -

He needs to throw the R's a bone so they can come out of this with a participation trophy, its really all the realitic and practical Republicans want at this point... they have to come away with something, they know it eve if its trvial, and Obama knows it as well.... -

just got off the phone with my of our largest donors at the hospital, and my ear is literally bleeding, one of his family friends was just diagnosed with cancer, but we won't take his care because he is uninsured... he can't fathom why we cannot take him, he says our position is bull **** and unnacceptable. I didn't have the stones to tell him that the ACA solves this issue for people like his friend, only because he has spent the last 3 years telling me how awful and evil the ACA is... I think I can get the guy on Cover Colorado, the pre-ACA solution to uninsured.. 1200/mo if not more, and a month waiting period. Better than nothing I guess... hope that month doesn't make a big difference in his prognosis. Still, nobody has explaned how that would have made any difference. the contention with the ACA is that it does nothing about cost or improving care, how would selling am insurance policy across State lines be any different than what the ACA does? Its still a coverage plan. Compaines would just rate the policy based on the State you reside in anyway... Also interesting. One of my buddies is best freinds with a top injury attorney here in town, and he said that Med Malpractice as well Perosnal Injury Punitive damage awards all have Caps in Colorado... it appears we do a prety decent job here of keeping outrageous judgement and settlements tame.. -

Compromise is an unshakable reality in any negotiation. Obama is not going to budge on the ACA. I happen to agree with him on that position... but where he is failing here is not giving the Conservatives anything here, and that is not how it works... he has to give up something, it doesn't have to be healthcare related, but you have to negotiate in good faith as far as I am concerned. -

sigh... Im tired of the Hyperbole from both sides on this issue. The Tea Party movement are not Economic Terrorists, they are a movemen that is pressing to provide contrast between establishment Republicans, and themselves as small goverment further right conservatives. I didn't think they would be suucessful in their push for the ACA repeal or delay, but they have set the platfom for a "choice" in the midterms, almost 3rd party.. we will see how Americans receive that. -
It doesn't help our QB can't throw with any consistency.... Put CJ on the Broncos, he runs for 3000k yards.... Once EJ learns the game, CJ is back....

Right, but right now my group coverage through work is $450/mo. with a 250 deductible.... So my out of pocket for that surgery was $250, and about $400 in copayment after pre-op testing, surgery consult, and various visit to my endo specialist... There were plans on the Colorado exchange that were 350-450 a month with zero copay.... But to me, I would rather pay the learnt amount monthly, and bank that savings, there is a realitively low liklihood of my getting sick again anytime soon.. Now if your plan for individual was 179 or less a month, with a 500 deductible.... You will. Be getting !@#$ed by HCR... But I don't recall ever seeing a premium and deductible amount coupled together that low... But your a craft bastard, so perhaps I am wrong... -

My thyroid surgery was 20K at the hospital alone (Pre, Surgery and Post-Op), anesthesia was 8K, and the surgeon was $6,500... for a 3 hour thyroidectomy. Now, the insurance probably paid maybe 30- 40% of that, but had that been cancer treatment or cath lab and Cardiac ICU.. that dedcutible is tiny compared to total charges. -

Couldn't care less, you Couldn't Care Less... I don't totally disagree that Government has role in investing in areas that lead to innovation, NASA, NIH, etc... but the point is when you are 17T in debt and have absolutley no plan to pay that down, i fact only to add it to, you have to develop a plan to deal with it. To me, that this is where you start asking Americans to budget better and shoudler more costs on their personal level from now on, or you start telling people "no" on some programs. I tend to believe unlike others on this board that significant changes to large social programs, MC and SS should be accompained by tax increases with a specific target debt level in mind. This plan will probably take 30 years i fnot more at this point, but this notion of borrowing and spending in perituity is simple fallacy.. it will come to and ugly, crippling end. -

Single Policy Holder- I closed the window, but I believe for a family: $179/mo. $10,000 Deductible $12,000 Cap Still for my wife and I it would be a decent deal. Our expenses are rarely more that a few thousand a year, and right now we keep 5K in account for Medical Expenses as it is. -
