  1. Medicare for all would be a Single Payor, not a Universal System. Medicare doesn't own any MD or facitlites
  2. Classic stuff. That movie is excellent, I have not seen it in a long time. Matt Damon, head of the FAG... lol
  3. She combined human torture with a holy Christian sacrament. Impressive. What torture and obidience to the command of Christ have in common, I gave no idea. As a Christian, I find that remake repugnant. But then again, Palin continues to prove who she is...
  4. There won't be a two-tiered system, it will be what is already in place, a two-tiered access system. Nothing really changed about that with the ACA- rich people will cut in front of you in line, get MD cell phones, etc. Medicaid people will show up late to appts and scream because there is a $2 copay they won't pay, probably because of that $5 coffee in their hand. the rest, play by the rules and for the most part get what you need in a timely manner.
  5. reading back, TYTT was not defending the statement itself, his issue was the literal misconstruing of the actual quote. I don't think anyone here would say Blacks are worse off today, than under Slavery. Heck, just ask Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
  6. !@#$ that. he've had healthcare, private land rights versus privilages, now Bundy- this thread is like magic... lol
  7. You have to consider the source of that statement. I don't think anyone, at least not crazy, think Blacks were better off as Slaves than on the Government tit. I think that statement assumes every single black person in America in poor and downtrodden- that simple is not true. Perhaps Bundy is correct that being a ward to Government is undesirable and keep peopel down, but the other parts is, well, crazy.
  8. How would that be different under a plan your endorse? Be specific.
  9. think of the reduction in heating bills for hospitals...
  10. Is this about Christie's defense attorney again? I have the most fabulous gay quip for you. But since I am unwilling to change my Avi, I will will refrain from that evitable exchange. Like Natural Woman?
  11. Medicare is fairly simple, just expensive to take care of sick old people. The ACA is an adminstrative trainwreck- and I have been a supporter.
  12. Medicare is widly popular, even among the people who hate Socialism the most. I do think if Washington had a better track records of success rather than waste and cronyism, people would be more open to the testing our Single Payor, etc. Vermont will be an interesting case study in Single Payor at the State level- that could very well change the healthcare landscape in many Blue States if it is successful.
  13. ' I have a friend who lives in Manchester, he has Diabetus- he is assigned to a diabetus Nurse who reaches out to him to make sure he is taking insulin correctly, getting labs on time, seeing the MD. Its interesting, I think because they want to keep cost in control, they do much more perosnalized outreach in other countries in an effort to not escalate disease. He drinks like a fish, and I mean alot... it amazing how long he has lived absuig himself like that.
  14. Interesting. That a primary consideration in the ACA, but I don't know if it has widespread truth in practice.
  15. Heres the bottom line. Free Market in healthcare is pay in cash, if you can't pay, you don't get. That is where price would come in line with a cosumers ability to pay for services., you would see fierce compeition for people who had money to pay, and you would see crystal clear price transprancy. You would see alot of hospitals close, innovation in pharma and tech would wane, and there would be alot of fellow Americans whose life would be vastly shortened. Amercians in general arent really comfortable with that scenario. Every other system is a cost shifting model. Cost Shifting, Cost Sharing, Wealth Distribution, etc- its all the same. The difference in access, delivery and rationing will be just about the same in a Single Payor Model, Socialized Medicine model or the Private Insurance model- just who do you feel the most comfortable with restricting and trying to limit your care. We argue they are vastly different, but in the end are very similar The best we can hope for is the partial free market hybrid. To me, this means ALOT of money out of a citzens pocket before insurance pays for a dime- it will force people to be thoughtful and deliberate about what care they seek, and were the seek it out. You pay for your penvetative care, you pay for basic services, you pay for the small tickets items. To me, there is no free lunch, everybody pays, and everybody will eventually take. Rarely do I think Government can do somethig better, but I'd love to get State based Single Payor a real shot- maybe it would suck, and I eat crow- but how much worse could it be than the boondoggle we have now, and had in the past? Probably not much worse.
  16. and a vote for a forced sale. I had no idea the NBA could force a sale, I guess its in the bylaws. The NBA is covering their ass and interests on this one, and for the sake of the league and products, probably the best decision. He is not a famous player, storied coach or storied owner- send him out and move on.
  17. Primary Care is subsidized through the support agreement, but I don't think they are lucky to be so... I think it has become just a reality of the land. The benchmark RVU's for a primary care provider, who also has commited to academic and research, it is impossible to hit your salary and benefits. No doubt the RVU system needs revamped- but I still don't see how a PCP working in academic medicine will ever be stand alone and self supporting- I don't think Specialties balk any more than they have to, understand the important role primary care plays. It doesn't make a difference if healthy people don't buy into risk pools. Still, nobody has articulated why this premise would bring down the cost of insurance, increase widespead or total access, or do anything more that what was offered prior to 2010. These are national companies, they set rates based on local populations, do we think that BC/BC is going to offer a uhealthly person from Mississippi a rated policy for healthy people in Colorado? I hear this Sell Across State Lines solution from people all the time, what exaxtly does it accomplish?
  18. I would argue taxes are fairly low in relation to spending... i know, I am a genius. I wonder how many years we can go on having taxes that do not come close to pay for services.... the 2008 Stimulus cost what 200K per job/ job saved- $10K seems like a bargain...
  19. Don't penalized the players and coaches who have worked all season for a shot- he's correct, being an !@#$ is not against the law.
  20. Stinking Tyranny- first they take the Whores, then the confiscate the Blow- all you're left with is hangover, blue balls and a big tax bill.... shame.
