  1. Protests erupt at California State Capitol after pair of reparations bills shelved by Bradford Betz A pair of reparations-related bills for the descendants of enslaved Black Americans failed to pass in the California legislature on Saturday after backers said the bills would not move forward. Authored by Democrat state Sen. Steven Bradford of Inglewood, Senate Bill 1331 would have created a new state fund for reparations, while Senate Bill 1403 would have established a state agency to oversee these efforts and determine who would be eligible. These measures were considered key components of some lawmakers’ ambitious efforts to pass legislation aimed at atoning for what they said was a legacy of racist policies that drove disparities for Black people, from housing to education to health. https://www.foxnews.com/us/protests-erupt-california-state-capitol-after-pair-reparations-bills-shelved
  2. Puerto Rican musicians bring star power, endorse Trump: ‘Best president the world has seen’ by Alba Cuebas Fantauzzi Puerto Rican musicians Anuel AA and Justin Quiles attended former President Trump’s latest Pennsylvania rally, labeling the GOP candidate "the best president the world has seen." The 45th President of the United States introduced the reggaeton stars as "musical legends," adding that "every Puerto Rican is going to vote for Trump." Both of the Caribbean idols walked on stage sporting red MAGA hats. Anuel addressed the rally saying, "I’m from Puerto Rico, and since Trump hasn’t been around, it’s not a secret we’ve been going through a lot as a country. Biden always promised [and] promised – a lot of politicians promised through the years. All of us know …… the best president the world has seen, this country has ever seen – his name is President Trump." https://www.foxnews.com/media/puerto-rican-musicians-bring-star-power-endorse-trump-best-president-world-has-seen .
  3. Netanyahu Calls Out Biden for Reckless, Insulting Comment- 'Tell Me What Has Changed?' by Margaret Clark A couple days ago we were complaining about Biden being on a beach. Maybe it would be better if he had stayed there. After six Israelis were brutally murdered, including American Hersh Goldberg, Biden had the audacity to make the comment that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not doing enough to get the hostages out. That comes from a man who is allowing pro-Hamas protests in our streets. As Mike Miller reported earlier today, "It's already a given that Joe Biden will leave office as the most cognitively vacant president of the United States in history. There's also a strong argument to be made that he'll be remembered as the most shameless." https://redstate.com/margaret-clark/2024/09/02/netanyahu-calls-out-biden-for-reckless-insulting-comment-tell-me-what-has-changed-n2178848

  6. It's been "taken care of" AfD loses seat in Saxony — this has major consequences. The electoral officer has corrected the provisional results of the Saxon state election. Due to a software error, an incorrect distribution of seats had been published, the state electoral administration announced. As a result of the recalculation, the AfD has lost the blocking minority in the state that it would have had in the coming legislature according to the first published election results. https://www.bluewin.ch/en/news/international/afd-loses-seat-in-saxony-this-has-major-implications-2349759.html “Software errors” – they’re not just for American socialists anymore! .
  7. Senator Tom Cotton is the author of Sacred Duty: A Soldier’s Tour at Arlington National Cemetery (2019). I wrote about it here on its publication date. It is a moving account of Senator Cotton’s service in the Old Guard along with a history of the Army’s oldest infantry unit. Service in the Old Guard is generally by application and requires rigorous training. Few can meet its incredibly imposing standards. Acceptance into service in the Old Guard is an honor conferred by the Army, on the one hand, and an honor fulfilled by its members, on the other. Upon his return from his tour of duty in Iraq, someone in the chain of command thought to “ask” Tom to serve as a platoon leader in the Old Guard. Senator Cotton says that questions about his service in the Old Guard are what his constituents most frequently want him to answer when they ask about his military service. When it comes to proper conduct at Arlington, suffice it to say, he speaks as an expert. Senator Cotton’s statement below on President Trump’s attendance at the anniversary memorial for the Abbey Gate Gold Star families seems to me authoritative. I want to add it to the video of Senator Cotton’s appearance yesterday on Meet the Press.
