  1. I know this can and will probably be taken wrong by some, but I'll say it anyway and hope for the best. Warren Moon was elected to the HOF not based on his credentials, but based on a black quarterback needing to be in the HOF and Moon was available. Moon was a fine QB, better than most during his day, but clearly not one of the best. Name one significant playoff game he won. Never played in the Super Bowl, and I'm not sure if any of his teams ever played in the conference championship game. All the stats that got him in the Hall were almost entirely based upon regular season games. So why does he go in the first year of eligibility and not Thurman. Because there are plenty of black running backs in the HOF but not one QB. The same bias that was used as a basis to keep Thurman out yesterday was not applied to Moon. Some voters said that Thomas was a great back but not one of the best of all times, so he was not viewed as meriting being selected the first year. But Moon is? This is not intended to start a racial issue, please believe me, but it seems so obvious to me that the voters have made race an issue in selecting Moon. Does he deserve to be a HOF, probably, at least eventually, but not selected first time out. I guess it's true, timing is everything.
  2. If your counting on the fact that by these 5 teams having new coaches we stand a good chance of winning them all, is it not possible that the fact we will have a new coach might mean we could lose all them also?
  3. Uhhhhhh, I don't remember saying I wanted Haslett. Where does this "we" come from? I also would hope they would interview the person they hire before they actually hire him.
  4. Ya know what bothers me more than whether or not Marv has made some mistakes......people like you who already looking for them and counting them down.
  5. Alrighty then.....now what? As I asked already, why hasn't this happened yet! Gray was a bigger embarassment than Clements and he still considers himself a part of the Bills coaching staff. Gray commented either today or yesterday that if he had resigned or was fired it was news to him. Is this just another big mess about to boil over?
  6. I can't believe this worthless, no nothing but blitz, pretender lasted through the day. He was just as worthless as Clements was, if not more. If Gray has resigned, as some have suggested, why no announcement? If Gray is still on the Bills staff next season there is no justice. Please Texas Tech take him away!!
  7. Is it just me or is anyone else reminded of Jim Kelly's last year playing when you watch Farve? Farve has followed the same path as Jimbo did, one or two years too long. Still thinking they had it when they were running on empty.
  8. I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but there was a play during the Denver game that continues to bother me. It was a 3rd and long (of course) and the Holcomb dumped off a pass (of course) to Mcgahee. Willis takes the pass sees a cornerback coming up on him, with a linebacker close by, and simply runs out of bouinds after a 1 yd gain. Absolutely no attempt to make anything happen! Showed NO heart!! This guy has become a joke over the last 5 or 6 weeks!!!
  9. O.K. guys, let me pull a Chad Johnson and guarantee that this will happen. Of course I have as much control of this as Mularkey has of the team right now. I see and sense it coming.
  10. Alright, here is how I see the rest of the year playing out. home Carolina Bills are better than average at home Win 5-6 away Miami Dolphins are worse than us, Bills finally on road Win 6-6 home New England 2 game winning streak, at home "surprise" Win 7-6 home Denver 3 game winning streak, at home "shock" Win 8-6 away Cincinnati refer back to today's game, Bills blasted Loss 8-7 away Jets on the road, against a bad team, lose anyway Loss 8-8 Of course after week 14 sitting at 8-6 we all think the playoffs are a real possibility, and of course the Bills do the usual, break our hearts. Thats what this team has been about last year and this. Just when we think they got something going, they stink. Just when we give up on them and all agree they stink, they put just enough together to think there is a chance. The end result is always the same, a broken heart, and the feeling that we've been cheated on. Pathetic!
  11. Why all the fuss over Everett? TD drafted him so he's bound to end up a complete bust. We all know TD doesn't know what he's doing.
  12. Man I'm almost as amazing in my calls as another ex-poster (Ice) on this one. If you look at the original post you see I saw Williams move to Guard, Peters taking over at RT and Anderson going to the bench. By next season it will all be complete when Preston takes the center spot and Teague is shown the door. Lucky guess I suppose.
  13. This team is not the mess a lot of people are making it out to be. It is a team that took a risk, and lost, with starting esentially a rookie QB who wasn't ready to play. A decent QB and we would easily be at 5-3 now instead of 3-5. A decent QB equates to far more production on offense, which also would have taken the pressure off an admittedly overrated defense. Someone tell me if anyone would be complaining about how pathetic of team we are if were 5-3. The Bills gambled and lost with starting JP and the record reflects that loss. The team is capable of much more and needs a QB who will make that happen.
  14. I'd love to see the Bills make a big push for someone like Brees this off season. Chargers will be looking to unload him soon because they got too much invested in Rivers for him to sit the bench for a third straight year. I'd give up our 1st pick and maybe a fourth rd also. Those of you that say our OL needs an up grade first, I believe our line will do fine with just a little tweaking. Gandy stays at LT - he's been doing fine. Peters at RT - Just too much athletic talent to sit, will only get better and better Williams moves to RG - what a package with Peters on the right side Villerial moves to LG - will bring nice support to Gandy Preston takes over at Center Teague sent packing Anderson put on bench for depth This offense has the personnel to succeed NOW with McGahee, Moulds, Evans, Parrish, a healthy Everett. What is missing is a QB with ability and a take charge leadership attitude. Those of you who are waiting for JP to be that guy are missing the reality that today's NFL is all about TODAY not the future. We need a QB who is ready NOW and Brees could be that guy. Now, I know this is simply wishful thinking but I can always wish, right?
  15. Allright, let's respond. JP - Way to early to judge. Gandy - Not a bad pick at all for the price Anderson - Looks like a screw up so far Teague - average Vilarrel - average Williams - inconsistent but that is purposefully looking for the problems, overlooking the positives. Mcgahee - Nuth said Spikes - Nuth said again Adams - Another great pick at a very nice price, a little spotty at times Mcgee - great pick up Evans - Great 1st year, jury out this year Peters - Looks like a real diamond Parrish - Great Potential! All this shows is if your looking for fault or blame, you'll find it. If you're looking for the good it's there also.
  16. Sure!!!!! Let's start all over with ANOTHER rookie QB! I'm sure we all have plenty of additional patience while waiting to see if either of these guys will amount to something (sarcasim). If JP has shown me anything it is, NEVER draft a QB in the first round. Get your QB from FA after they have been groomed by someone else. i.e. Farve, Green, Plummer, Delloume.
  17. I know full well that we haven't been to the playoffs since he arrived, but I also remember this team was a complete mess when he took over. This is the same guy who got Willis here, for the price of, well, Priceless Peerless. He also brought us Spikes, Adams, McGee, Evans, and also was able to keep Moulds here even though he would have gotten a lot more money with other teams. He's made a lot of bold moves, some have been great, some average, a few busts. But he at least he has the nads to make the moves. He also has the nads to not listen to all of us and make moves we all think should be made. Like drafting Joey Harrington, or picking up Drew Henson. He screwed up with Greg Williams, but how many other coachs in the NFL didn't measure up to expectations, a few I imagine. I simply believe that many Bills fans live for each Sunday, expecting the Bills to win, and when they don't a finger has to be pointed at someone to some feel better. I also believe that Jim Kelly and company spoiled us rotten during their "Unbelievable Run" back in the early 90s and many want to see those days return. What isn't realized is those days were something, very, very special. And we and maybe no other teams will see that for quite a long time.
  18. The whole issue will be settled when Grey signs with a college team to be their Head Coach after the end of this season. He came close last year to doing this. After this year's mess with the Bill's defense he will no longer be a hot prospect for anyone as a Head Coach in the NFL. But, if he takes a head coaching position at the college level and does well, his name will come back to the service within the NFL ranks. That's the way I see it playing out. Oh, by the way, good ridance Jerry. All he knows is blitzing with the wrong person, at the wrong time. One gear, and only one gear.
  19. There's been a lot of talk about the disputed "catch" that the refs blew. But on that same play why in the world is he blitzing "again" with Milloy. The Bills had just increased the lead with a clutch FG. It's first and ten for NE at about the their own 40 yd line. As usual Gray calls for a safety blitz that once again amounts to nothing, other than taking the safety out of the play, leaving the CB hanging out to dry. Result, the Bills get burned by the play and the call. Neither may have happened if Milloy is not 5 feet from Brady rather than in drop coverage. This has been the norm all year so far. What's even more amazing and frustrating is the DL was putting decent pressure on Brady all night already. Why send the safety! This wasn't the first time that call was made in the game. I believe the same call was made very early in the game the Bills got burned on that one also. Gray's calls have killed the Bills once again, and we're only half way thru the year.
  20. What "might" they all have in common? The other 4 other than Holcomb are all quarterbacks that were considered back caliber QBs who when finally given a shot to play for a "Good" team proved they can play. Bulger was Warner's backup. Gannon was a journeyman at best. Delhomme was New Orleans third string QB. Maddox was out of football altogether until the Steelers gave him a call when desparate. I'm not annointing Holcomb to be the next Cinderella story but look at the facts. This is his first real shot he's been given. His time with the Colts was holding the clip board for one Payton Manning. His time with the Browns was time spent with one of the worst teams around, backing up another project QB that never worked out, Tim Couch. (I'm not saying JP falls into the category of Couch) But Holcomb is 32 years old, has learned the game well, and is ready to play..NOW! He's not a project. Moulds, Evans, and probably a lot more players and coaches know this. If this team is going to do anything this year it has to have a QB that is ready to play. If Holcomb has a break out year like the others I mentioned earlier the Bills reap the benefits this time. I'm a Bills fan, not a JP or Holcomb fan. When the Bills win that's all that matters.
  21. To all of you have given up on this team and are already convinced that this team is sorry, pathetic, pitiful, embarrassing, awful, stinks etc. etc. etc., I disagree. This is still a very good team, they just haven't played as well as they are capable. Today's win is a WIN. I'll take it!! Did the Bills "almost" let it slip away? Indeed they "almost" did. Can they play better, absolutely! Look at the Yankees this year, (and I'm not a Yankees fan). In the beginning of the season most everyone wrote them off. They were playing awful. But they pulled it together and started to play up to their abilities and they ended up winning their division again. Look at our Bills just last year. 0 - 4 and left for dead. Finished 9 - 3 the rest of the way. Remember when this season began it was said that we didn't need our QB to win the games, just play good enough to not lose them. I'm convinced with Holcomb we have that QB now. Does our defense have to play much better? Yes, Yes, YES! Do they have the players to do that, Yes. Is Mcgee a special player on special teams? Dughhhhhh. Is Lindell making the big FGs this year? Who is that guy making 47 yd FG in the clutch anyway? Bills haven't had one of those in a long time. Bottom line: Bills are 2 - 3. At home next week to play the Jets, a very winable game that would make us 3 - 3. And that is after playing some of the worst defensive football in the beginning of a season that they ever played. If the Bills can work through the areas that need attention this can still be a very exciting season for TRUE Bills fans. All you doom and gloom naysayers may end up being right by the end of the season, but for now it is way too early to throw in the towel. GO BILLS!!
  22. Is this the same Pat Williams that has completely turned the Vikings back into the Purple People Eaters. Vikes fans are all jumping for joy for what PW has brought to their defense. Please people PW was on his last legs and the Vikes were fools enough to take him off our hands.
  23. I hear ya and I would be all for giving JP all the time he needs if the entire team was rebuilding. But they aren't! The Bills have a very small window of opportunity, just like most teams eventually get to. Do we throw that away to give JP the time to learn. Holcomb may very well come in and play just as bad, but I don't think so because he already has what JP doesn't, "years of experience". He is not likely to panic and throw a simple 10 yd out 10 yards over Moulds head. Again, my thrust here is putting the best team on the field each week to win NOW, not playing for the future!
  24. Problem with this way of thinking is not recognising that every new FA and every draft pick brings uncertainty. You don't know what your getting. Some work out, many don't. We only know what we got NOW.
  25. Each team's situation is different based on their own personnel. Again, we are either getting old at too many positions and have too many key players possibly leaving via FA within the next year to wait around for JP to grow into a Carson Palmer. Remember it's taken Palmer 3 years. What or do we have left in 3 years?
