Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
MarlinTheMagician replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I probably would have preferred West, but the upside here is undeniable. Everything says he needs conditioning, wears down. Get him out of Kentucky, on an NFL diet and in an NFL weight room and he seems to have unlimited potential. -
Stackhouse, Cam Jackson, Zeek Biggers - there are run stuffers out there. Walker - sounds like he has a quick 1st step but can't destruct double teams because he plays too high. Can be coached some, but some analysts say he will always play high given his height and lack of bend. Not a crazy shot at this point in the draft though. We could even take two of those guys and let them fight it out for a spot.

Done one thing only: Two championship games, five division titles and players like Milano, Dawkins, Tre White, Shakir, Kincaid, Bernard, Micah Hyde, Benford, Spencer Brown, Torrence, Poyer, Cook, Oliver, Rousseau, Taron Johnson, John Brown, Cole Beasley, Diggs, among others, are decent players they have brought here, and they all say hello.

There are fat tubs of goo remaining - Cam Jackson and Nazir Stackhouse are 2-down one techs that can stop the run. They will be there. I think a big guy (albeit slightly less big) with movement skills like Sanders is harder to find. The only huge DT left with movement was Al Collins and they clearly liked Sanders better. They did not have a reasonable shot at guys like Grant, Harmon or Tyleek Williams. So give 'em a break.

I Like What Beane has done so far! (First 3 Picks)
MarlinTheMagician replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
When the draft picks are put with the free agents, like 1/2 our D stands to be new players. Will be a very, very different D. Check it, and not done yet: Joey Bosa, Larry Ogunjobi, Tre White, Michael Hoecht, Dane Jackson, Darrick Forrest. Maxwell Hairston TJ Sanders Landon Jackson -

We have added some athletes - D needed them. More to come. -
Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
MarlinTheMagician replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is there any thought Ingram could compete to start? I know he is kind of slow, but his teammates have raved publicly about his work ethic and performance in practice (Von and someone else I respected the year before last). Could he get a shot? -
Bills trade Cordy Glenn to Bengals
MarlinTheMagician replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall
When discussing Beane's record, pulling off this trade is often overlooked. Dawkins had proved he could handle the job the prior year when Glenn was hurt. Not only did we move from 21 to 12, we dumped a bunch of salary. He was only 28 when traded, but played in only 19 games for the Bengals, 18 as a starter. The trade put us in striking distance -- and now we have Mr. Buffalo and The Queen of Buffalo. Dawkins was released March 2020. He has never filed his retirement papers and is only 35 - we can get him back as a depth piece 🙂 -
Trading down makes sense, but I don't like the wide receivers. Higgins doesn't separate well enough and Isaiah Bond is a bust waiting to happen. Substitute Ayonomar, Noel, Royals with the earlier WR pick and take DB, DL, OL depth instead of waiting a pick on Bond. Even if you want a wide receiver late, take someone like Tslaa or Lambert Smith. But don't bother, they really offer no more than Tyrell Shavers or Virgil. So make the developmental pick with DB, DL, OL. I also don't think we need to get all the way up to 65 with the Giants. Not likely. But they have 99. Can always move up from there if needed.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
MarlinTheMagician replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tre has done it at the highest level. He knows how to prepare for that level of performance, a level most NFL players never reach. And he is not old. Expecting peak Tre White is not reasonable, I admit. Expecting valuable contribution as a bridge for a rookie starter is more than reasonable. Tre will surprise - achilles take two years and he is an elite worker and competitor. He also has tremendous pride and is a great teammate. I don't understand any hesitancy to give the man a chance. This is a very, very good signing. -
Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
MarlinTheMagician replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tre will surprise. He is going to be more than solid. Perfect add to work in our new highly-drafted CB. And then back up both Benford and the rook when the rookie takes over. Smart, smart move! -
Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
MarlinTheMagician replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I called this months ago! You can look it up. If he stays healthy he is going to be good. I know he was bad in LA and mediocre in Baltimore. It is a two-year recovery from the achilles. Maybe not exactly the old Tre, but a reasonable semblance thereof. I pretty much guarantee it. Use this post against me later if I’m wrong. I believe in Trey White. Great signing! -
What is your draft doomsday scenario?
MarlinTheMagician replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not getting Grant or Collins and Amos or Morrison. We easily have the draft capital to make sure it happens, and if we do those two things I think the draft is a success. It is possible we don't have to move much, but Beane has to be ready to do so. I will cry if we get Trent McDuffie'd again. -
Miami Herald: Dolphins players have turned on McDaniel
MarlinTheMagician replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really dislike McDaniel. He may have gone through a lot a long time ago, but he thinks he is on the Revenge of the Nerds tour and now too cool for school. You don't have to be a great player in college to have the respect of your team. But respect still has to be earned, and you don't earn it with a Joe Cool, gold-rimmed glasses, I am smarter than you are act. He over emotes in a smarmy way. -
Draft hopeful Kyren Lacy passes away
MarlinTheMagician replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just awful. Shows how a life can be flushed so quickly. I wish he could have worked through the pain. He made a terrible mistake, took a life, but it was not malicious. Terrible judgment, but a moment of time in an otherwise productive life. God bless, I hope he is at peace. -
PSL Pricing/Seat Selection Discussion
MarlinTheMagician replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
Question: I paid a deposit to be on the PSL wait list the day it became possible to do so. I have not yet been contacted since it seems they are still working through the existing holders. I grew up in Buffalo and still love the City, but I felt I needed to leave at age 17 due to the lack of economic opportunity at the time. I am now 63, and life has worked out - I am blessed. I have five children and want to get the four best PSLs I get a crack at. Since I will likely be dead by the end of the 30 years, this is more for my five children than for myself (my kids were hapless Bills fans in NYC during the drought years, but they are loyal to this day and they bleed Bills blue). Does anyone have any idea of what the equivalent to lower-bowl seats at the Ralph between the 40s will cost, and the likelihood any will be available for those on the wait lists? Thanks in advance for any info/guidance!
