Not a good sign that his base is so poor the QB tips him over with ease after the turnover. If we want a giant tub of goo, I'd rather have Zeek Biggers. A little less goo, but he is less likely to have a heart attack on the field and can run.

If we end up with Bond I may either shed a tear or break my TV. Coleman was absolutely NOT a receiver I wanted last year, though I root for him now without limitation as it is my duty. But not again please! I have a few friends in Texas who watch every second of the Horns as I do the Bills. They each think very little of Bond for a host of reasons, but adore Golden (and Al Collins and Mukuba, btw). Please no!

I would be thrilled with that. When one comes off, move up and get the other!

I think, as some have speculated, the corners we might want, and definitely need, seem to run out - or risk running out -- by our second round picks. So maybe a corner #1? I really like a lot of the DTs in this draft and think we can get a good run-stopper in the second. There are just almost too many good DLs for all the 1 techs to be gone -- ones I like that could be there at the time of our first or second pick include: -Grant -Harmon -Tyleek Williams - Collins Would love Hairston or Revel, then Tyleek Williams or Al Collins and a WR or Edge with our seconds. Could be really fun if Ekbuka or Golden slide to the second, but we would have to go up and get them bc they ain't sliding to late in the round! Both those guys seem to offer the speed and separation at Y that we lack (but may have already addressed with Palmer, so I could understand an DB, DL, and Edge and get a WR later). Let's go!

Fair point about the "healthy" scratches - but those also consistent with Carter not being fully healthy. But your last point is the best, some (most) rooks are not what they will become their first year. And I can grant this is a big year for Carter for sure. If he doesn't play a meaningful role it is bad for the Bills and worse for him. People can differ on the likelihood of him making a big jump in performance, and I guess I am just more optimistic. You may have done this already, but if you have not checking out some of his games at Duke and some of his interviews. This guy is a MAN that will die for his team and has performed at a high-level for a long time. He may stink it up, but I like his chances to be a meaningful contributor more than worthy of a third round pick. We'll see! Good luck and Go Bills!

I am not a fan of either the "we must have another weapon for Josh" crowd (especially given Palmer) or the "get a generational talent" fans. I am a card-carrying member of the "we averaged 30+ points a game and did not lose because of offense. We lost because of our defense and we need several defensive athletes to close the gap and win the SB" group. These seem to be the three sets of thinking on this board. Respect to the other two, but I believe in the third. The one I waffled on was Tuimoloau vs. Princely. But in this draft you get five players that will start on D or join the DL rotation, I believe. Three on the line, two in the defensive backfield. Like the top, don't like the back end. 1.) I think we should trade some of the later picks and move up in 3, 4, and 5 to get better talent; and 2.) Yuk to - Tommi Hill, Peebles. I put him in some mocks, but Tuimoloau scares me - I am marginally okay with the pick. Like Ransom and Sawyer. I get pick #1, but I generally don't want a first round safety, especially if we get another safety like Ransom. Stick a one technique at our first pick - Grant, Tyleek Williams, Harmon, and I like it a lot better!

Valid points, but here are a couple different takes: 1. We don't know how "over" his injury he was or not; 2. Carter is not a meathead; and 3. "Boogie" was an edge who seemed to lack the basic physical traits to excel at the position. He generally looked slow and heavy-footed, which matches his pre-draft scouting reports, as I recall. So I think apples and oranges comparison.

I think Carter could be good because from what I saw he has good movement skills for someone with his thickness/density. I think with a year in an NFL weight room, team prescribed diet, and familiarity with the scheme and play speed of the NFL, it could lead to a meaningful jump in year #2. Plus he is a very high-character player that has shown a lifetime of high-motivation to improve and excel. Seems it is more reasonable to believe he could work out than to not believe he could. Gosh that is atrocious. I almost forgot how bad that was - and all top 15 picks or so. That is part of why I think jumping up is not the right strategy. Draft picks are lottery tickets, and I would like to play more rather than less.

Certainly - agree that it all comes down to who you pick. They need to get that right, and on the specific players - they have to judge that. Last year, I was very upset when they took Coleman over McConkey, but I am all in for hoping Keon works out. I am worried about him though due to inability to separate. We will see about Bishop and Carter, I still think both will be good. And Ray Davis. And Grable, perhaps. And perhaps the LB. It has not done much yet, but I think last year's draft may end up being a pretty good one. Coleman is the one that worries me most.

Maybe something like this - seems like we risk running out of talent at corner in the second before DT and DE, so I took a corner early. You have your pick of Ravel, Morrison, Thomas there. I offer this not so much for the specific players, but where I would use our capital. I feel that we should do the opposite of trying to reach for a generational talent. 20-40 in the draft are all rated about the same by scouts. I would trade down and get into the third if I could while still getting a pick inside the top 40. (great if, for example, the Giants want Dart) And I would use some of our later picks to trade up within rounds to make sure we get people who we believe will make the team and help now. We could trade back to 35-ish and get one of the top corners (Ravel, Morrison, Hairston, Thomas), a quality Edge and a tank 1 technique all with our first three picks. To me, it seems obvious we are three things short of winning a SB: speed and ability to cover in the defensive backfield, edge pressure, and beef in the middle that can push the pocket and stop the run. I would love the following: 1. 1 Tech - Grant, Harmon, T. Williams or Collins (and another one like Cam Jackson, Caldwell or Stackhouse in the 5th or 6th round) 2. Corner - Morrison, Ravel, Thomas, Hairston, Otis. (Maybe need one later too like D. Strong, Q. Riley, or N. Williams). 3. Edge - BC guy Ezeiraku (sp?), Sawyer, Princely, Pearce, Green, Landon Jackson Then as picks permit, get Josh a mid-round receiver and a late round guard with traits. Maybe a RB or TE late. What we need to win is definitely out there in numbers this year - DB, DT, DE.

It is a good question. I think based on traits and on-field performance alone, I could get behind the Abdul Carter choice. However, I know someone at that team who says Carter is not well-liked by teammates because he is self-focused rather than team focused and kind of in-your-face about his Muslim faith. For those reasons I would not want him. Nor would I want any of the QBs. So what's left? Maybe Travis Hunter - if he can be an elite DB and give you a few snaps on offense to stretch the field, could kind of be exactly what we need. Would love to have him, would not mortgage two drafts to get him.

Don't like it. Not sold on Harmon and Texas fans don't care that much for Bond - criticize his effort and they prefer Golden.

1 technique - 1 please, drafted pretty high. DT that can flex between 1 and 3 tech - 1 please CBs - 2 please, one drafted high, one later. Edge - 2 please, one drafted high, one FA Free Safety - starter, drafted pretty high (Rounds 2 or 3?) WR - whenever you see value. Need another pick in rounds 2 or 3, go up and get it!

We are a field goal away from the Super Bowl - and if Kincaid makes a tough catch or we get a fair spot we might well be in it. There is lots of talent, just came up a little short. The previous disappointments we all have just don't count when weighing this roster. Those rosters are done and dusted. And the facts say this roster and coaching staff fell just short of the best. Not all is bleak. But in fairness to your point - I thought the D needed some players all year.

We have 3 premium picks, but I think we need four on defense - I would not use any on offense. 1. Big butt 1 technique that can stuff the run and push the pocket; 2. Edge;; 3. Corner; 4. Safety Need four defensive playmakers. Plus a bunch more defensive depth at corner, linebacker and line.

We have 10 years, more if they are smart and draft Josh's replacement a year or two before he is done. Hopefully, Josh will be helpful with them on timing that out. Rogers and Favre might not have done that, but I could see Josh giving management a heads-up "I plan to play two more years." Fortunately, we are far, far from that day.

The sun rises folks. We have a young and very talented roster. This group outperformed expectations, whether or not it performed to its maximum potential yesterday (I don't think it did). We need more athletes on defense, plain and simple. We are close. We have 10 picks in the draft. There is reason for optimism. Phase II of the "reset" undertaken this year may well push us over the top. Enjoy the ride, and never say die! Go Bills!!

First year back - rough year. Achilles often takes two years. And we know how he works - he has a chance. He is looking pretty close, Harbaugh is not stupid and he traded for him. Bring him home as a backup at the right price. He is younger than Rasul I think. What would it cost? No idea if this could happen, but I would bet they have the conversation.
