I'm wondering if it matters. If you're willing to pay him more, why not choose a lower tender then match any reasonable offer. Best case no one offers and you get him for a lower price, or someone offers a reasonable price and you match, or someone offers more and you let him go (w/o comp I understand) I just mean that if you're willing to match, why not choose the lower tender?
