Anyone else have the feeling .....
#34fan replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That shouldn't be that hard. The Spanoses are pretty much the Ralph Wilsons of the west coast. TIGHTWADS. I really wanted Jackson to be a Bill at one time, but that's kinda cooled off. He's got a string of DUI's in San Diego, and I don't think that bodes well for the Buffalo fans. If he's not too pricey, then absolutely. But if he wants the moon, skrew him. -
We didn't have to wait til Thurman's third pro season for him to produce. No offense, but you're comparing apples and frickin' banannas.

Look buddy, don't snap at me because I refuse to gasp and swoon over a guy that's had 1 100+ yard game in two years. Especially a kid as highly touted as Spill was coming out of college. Freddy rushed for a buck or more in 6 out of the 10 games he played in. If this team was a household, Freddy would have been the sole breadwinner for the first half of this season. As for the title of this thread, how can one be given credit for a scenario that never existed? Spiller had a better year than last year, but IMO he's still underachieving. What does Spill do well? In what situation can Spill be a go-to guy? CJ Spiller is a man without a face in this Bills offense, and most of you know this. I'm not gonna go back and forth with the childishness. Spiller may have improved in the second half of the season, but he has yet to prove that he can contribute to this offense on a consisitent basis. End of story.
-
Breakout season? The guy had like two good games. -Please. Let him put on some weight, and learn to run between the tackles. Then, and only then, will Spiller get my respect.

Even at 73 Marty would be be a HUGE upgrade from Chan. Ralph just won't have it though. If it was a possibility, I would definitely be on board.

Wow -- player revolt against Sanchez
#34fan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice call. However, it's far more likely that we (The Bills) will finish last in the AFCE next year, and neither Chan, nor Nix will get fired for it. I'm not so sure we should be as gleeful as we are at the prospect of an imploding Jets Locker room. The very fact that there's turmoil indicates that there may be something to fight over. It happened in the Steelers Locker romm last season, and the Pat's locker room the year before that. In-fighting can be good, IF it's managed correctly. I think the opposite side of the spectrum would be the Bills locker room. I WISH one of our players would have called out Fitz, and the defense during our 7 game slide. Unfortunately that sort of thing doesn't fly too well in Orchard Park. Being that our franchise is run like a McDonald's the offending player would have probably been let go mid-shift. -
Wow -- player revolt against Sanchez

Rex and his big mouth set the stage for this entire debacle. -Guaranteeing wins, and superbowl appearances. That's exactly the kind of stuff NFL HC's should avoid. I understand that because of the culture installed in the Mangini era, Rex may have felt the need to "talk his guys up." Unfortunately, it may have led to the Jets believing they were better than they actually were. The end result was a season that didn't live up to anyone's expectations. IMO that's still a positive. NYJ fans should consider themselves lucky just to HAVE expectations. At the start of the season, Many here on TBD were hoping for a 7-9 effort from our guys! The moral of the story is that expectations, while good, can be a two-edged sword. The Jets should be careful not to hack each other to pieces with it. Sanchez can still play. He's a homesick California-boy that lost his way in the bright lights of Madison Avenue. He had a bad year, and the New York media tore him to shreds. This is a kid that's already made it to 2 AFC title games in his brief career. If he' smart, he'll settle down, and just focus on being a better QB. The Jets are still the second best team in our division. IMO Mark Sanchez has earned the benefit of any doubt his teamates, or the New York media circus can cast on him. -
I dunno. Marty cracks a whip pretty hard. If he's hired, look for lot of discontent among the players. LeGarette Blount may want to start packing now.

Hate to break it to you but that history of penalties didn't start last season. In fact, Raiders teams have been known for their rowdiness for DECADES. To be honest, it's part of their attraction. As long as I've been alive Raider football has been a hybrid of thuggery, physicality, and atleticism. Most Raider fans wouldn't have it any other way. Something else is afoot, here. I'm not sure why, but Raiders management is quickly turning their HC position into a job nobody wants. This is an awful thing to do to a team that, IMHO, has a lot of talent, and was very close. As far as the Seymour thing, he's been beligerent for years, so that doesn't pass muster either. -Why not just get rid of him? Whatever the reason is, I think removing Jackson from the system was a mistake. They had a good offense, even with a QB that basically came straight off the couch.
-
Ozzie is a big kid. Not just tall, but BIG. He's been on my radar for months, but I didn't think his skill-level was anywhere near where it had to be in order to be considered a pro prospect. I honestly thought he'd be staying at ASU for the next couple of years. He's definitely a manning-type QB with an arm that needs some work, and some fine-tuning. Can he eventually get there? Sure. But under a REAL OC, not under Gailey's current organization.
-
We should get a legitimate OC in order to get a more accurate view of Chan's head coaching ability. I personally think he's awful, but that's because of his awful playcalling. Maybe he's involved at a level he shouldn't be. Let's see how it goes next season with a dedicated OC. If we still suck, then fire them both.
-
Meh, eight wins tops with our current coaching staff/roster. GO BILLS

Chan gailey is hands down the most predictable offensive coordinator in the league. It took him an entire extra season to realize the "wildcat" had lost it's strategic value in professional football. And when he's not being completely transparent, he veers off into the land of the absurd. Throwing deep on 3rd & 1, -punting on 4th and inches when we're down three scores in the first. (But going for it in the 4th when the game is out of hand.) I don't give a crap what Chan did with Pittsburgh, or Dallas in the 90's, he can't call a game to save his life today. Offensive philosophy? Ha! -I wish we had one. Right now all we have is another lost season, and a madman's delusion of being an NFL calibre coach.

official fitzpatrick "things to improve on list"

The experiment is over. Fitzpatrick in not a good QB. Let's dump him, and move this team forward. -
What two words best describe the Nix/Gailey Tenure

Let's see. Quite a few combinations here. SAME. OLD. LACK. LUSTER. NO. PLAYOFFS. That's just off the top of my head. -
I'm OK with Flynn. But he HAS to lose the BEARD!

Ryan Tannehill should be our first round pick
#34fan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope. I'm not buying. I've seen a lot of Tanneyhill, and I cannot see my way to wasting a first-round pick on him. -Too many question marks. Too many other offensive needs as well. IMO He's third-round talent AT BEST. If L. Jones is gone, lets get whoever the signal-caller is some help. OG, OT, TE. -
Ryan Tannehill should be our first round pick
#34fan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dunno man... We went defense with like 7 out of our 9 draft choices last year. At this point, I have to blame our terrible defense on terrible coaching. We should have enough talented players to get it done, by now. When I look at defensive MELTDOWNS like the one today, I can't chalk it up to a lack of a 4-3 OLB. Btw, if Potter doesn't move you, who do you like at OT in the draftt? -
Ryan Tannehill should be our first round pick

I'm pretty passionate about my college football. Unlike some people on this board, I'm up every Saturday morning watching games all season. I've watched these kids play, and seen them perform in all kinds of situations. IMO Ryan Tannehill isn't first round material. I'm sure at some point, he'll play at the next level, but I hope it's not for us. I wonder how much "film" you've seen on Tyler Wilson? This kid throws a nice ball, and can hook up with some of the speediest wide-outs on the planet. Also, he throws ALOT. All types of routes. If he comes out, he deserves a look. Btw have you watched any "film" on Nate Potter? I've watched him play, and he dominates at his position, as does Glenn, and Decastro. Why wouldn't you want to give whoever's under center some talent to work with? Maybe YOU should watch some actual college games before scouting out your talent. -
Ryan Tannehill should be our first round pick

That's an awesome hotel. Years ago, there was this shack out on Marco Island that served these KILLER frozen drinks. We used to sit out there getting wasted, and watching wild dolphins. Anyway, about this Tannehill kid, Although I'm desperate for us to draft a franchise QB, I think there's better players at other positions to take at 11 or 12. I think Tannehill CAN play at the next level, but he'll struggle with the speed of the game. If all the stud QB's are gone by our pick, we should do this for rounds 1-4: Round 1: OG Cordy Glenn (Georgia) OR, OG Dave Decastro (Stanford) Round 2: OT Nate Potter (Boise State) Round 3: TE Nick Provo (Syracuse) Round 4: QB Tyler Wilson (Arkansas) IF he even enters the draft. This kid threw for more yards in a single game than any NCAA QB this year. -510! Ironically it was in a come- from-behind victory over Ryan Tannehill and the Aggies. -

Sorry, but your avatar should be a fork in a Bills #56 jersey. The guy is DONE. Kaput. Finito. He's always hurt, and he's not getting any younger. -
Gailey denies the 'stache is calling the D
#34fan replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as I want it to matter, I really don't think it does. Even if Wanny is the tremendous upgrade at DC that people think he is, I don't think our guys care anymore. Besides, I'm not interested in sacrificing a relatively decent draft position for the sake of a 7-9 season. -
LOL, Here's a clue, pal. NONE of the guys you've mentioned here can be considered "great." At least, not yet. Bottom line is that our secondary sucks. If your buddy Byrd is a part of that then perhaps the shoe fits. Like I said, I don't HATE the Byrd. He does some things well. Despite that, given the last seven games, I don't see myself missing him if he goes.

Fire Chan.... Hire Wannstedt
#34fan replied to GeorgeEdwardsTeeth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should be ALL OVER Norv Turner if the Bolts cut him loose. He would make it look like Chan & Buddy Nix actually know what they're doing. I can live with the stache at DC and Norv Turner as OC. -
Who cares about Byrd. During the 7-game slide our defense gave up an average of 32 points per game. He's not the worst defensive player on our roster, but if he's so great, why do we get scored on like that? For what it's worth, Drayton should be looking over his shoulder as well. I like Byrd's spirit, but we can pay anybody to tackle opposing players in our end-zone. Sorry but, bye-bye byrdie.
