I am 51 and have an 18 year old daughter. Somehow I do not think I would be slapping Bruce on the back, saying "Way to go, Dude!" if she brought him home. I did spend some time with a 35 year old when I was 18, and we had one thing in common.

She does not live there, she lives up by Prospect Park. Bensonhurst seems to be an area that is seeing an increase in Chinese and Russian immigrants. The kids there really want to learn. She has taught on the east side of Manhattan and Chinatown, and is used to living in Brooklyn. Is there something I do not know about Bensonhurst you were trying to tell me?

I should have mentioned: Dropped out from SUNY Geneseo in 1973 to see the world; a year later I was making popcorn poppers in a sweatshop for minimum wage. After I had a wife, house, and three kids, I went back to school, part time nights. Took me 8 years. I often worked two jobs, and had to skip semesters now and then because we had no funds. My company matched the tuition as long as my grades did not suck. Graduated with high honors (3.57) and an Associates in Business in '92. I cannot say it did much for my career, but it did a lot for ME.

At our local school, teacher's salaries (including a raise) are placed on the austerity budget, while transportation of elementary school children was supplemental. So 5 year olds within one mile of the school should walk to kindergarten? The district just keeps having additional votes, moving a few numbers around, until panicky parents finally pass the BS budget.

No, I have only stayed at Rui Jalisco, Club Marival, (both about an hour north in Nuevo Vallarta) and this last trip at the Marina Vallarta, a 40 cent taxi ride to "Centro". We have stayed at all inclusive resorts as a "base" because of young nieces and nephews, but if it was just my family, all adults, I would find someplace downtown. If you want Mexico, stay close to the city. If you want beautiful resorts, a bit more "americanized", go to Nuevo Vallarta. Where exactly is Pueblo Rose? I may know the area. Um, you know that summer is the rainy season right?

I just got back from Puerto Vallarta a couple hours ago. Where are you staying? Let's see, shots of tequila Wednesday night, horseback riding from Mismaloya beach, up the river into the Sierra Madres (El Eden) on Thursday, went out that night for buckets of beer at the Zoo until 2:30 Friday morning, and here I am 24 hours later, back on the wall. It sucked getting back into Rochester, almost midnight and SNOW everywhere, still wearing shorts and sandals! Feeling old? I am only 51, and no thanks!
