  1. Make sure the deal is "subject to buyer's lawyer approval". Write that in by hand if you have to. That single statement allows you to change your mind for any reason. Remember the realtor works for the SELLER. Definitely follow other advice here - lots of very good input!
  2. Last <bump> before the walk on May 1st. If you want to donate and want a Bills DVD too check this out: fezmid My personal page with a recap of last year's walk: rockpile Thanks to all who have helped, and those who couldn't. Bless you all.
  3. You are SUCH a plug hole.
  4. A lot depends on some other considerations: Are you married? Do you have kids? Can you get a certificate of occupancy? A single guy or a couple, with a C of O can live in the house while it is being rebuilt and save a bundle. Go to a used book store, garage sale or flea market and buy a Popular Mechanics Home Improvement Guide from around 1945 so you understand how your house was put together, what the plumbing and wiring will be like. Basically you will see what is really behind that plaster. Are you doing this to live there or for an investment? If investment, be as frugal as you can, but still do it right. If it is for YOU, do it to last a lifetime. Are your "resources" cheap? I had my son and his friends (all burly and over 21 move us into my current home. Paid them in beer and pizza. Have another friend who did plumbing work with me for a day, I worked on his deck with him for a day. I have owned four homes now and basically gutted three and did major remodeling on the fourth. This is a start. I am a dilletante, not a crafstman, so I hope some experts speak up. Good luck.
  5. Customer Service Logistics Analyst When my company sold my division to another company, my boss said he needed to put down my job title, so I made that up - he liked it. I thought it sounded rather impressive myself! I have no job description. I do everything from taking computer spare parts orders over the phone, to managing ISO 9000 Quality issues (writing procedures and auditing), to managing projects that I know nothing about (I make sure people who KNOW what they are doing are in place and delivering what they promise on time), to devising economic, customer friendly support strategies for new products. There have been times when I spoke to people in Canada, Mexico, U.S., England, and Italy all in the same day. It has slowed WAY down so it is mostly a paycheck now until I find another career. At 51, I am not in a hurry. I spend breakfast, lunch and a few breaks here.
  6. Hopefully you are self employed.
  7. It Doesn't sound like Zep to me.. Check it out. Maktub End of day update: Fed five generations of family today, from my wife's grand parents to my grandchildren. I am on 24x7 call since my daughter is a day past her due date for her 5th child. When she goes in to deliver her baby, my other 4 grandchildren will be my responsibility. Grandpa Rules!
  8. Sitting in the shade on a bright sunny day after brunch. I am only in the shade so I can see the screen on my wireless laptop). Listening to a song (MP3) my friend from Seattle sent me by a group called Maktub, called No Quarter. Sounds like a cross between OLD Pink Floyd (UmmaGumma era), and Uriah Heap (Gypsy era), and a back beat reminiscent of the Who's bassist John Entwhistle (Smash Your Head Against the Wall/My Size) for you old esoteric music farts. He and I have been turning each other on to new music since about, oh, 1967. It is about 70 degrees and I am about to go get my hands dirty preparing my veggie garden. Set up the volley ball net so that later we can have a BBQ and drink a few cold LaBatts and play some games. As I said - just gloating in mindless peace with decent weather and temperatures for a change. I am almost guilty, feeling this good without meds or alcohol or a doobie, heh. It is Sunday, so I guess for me this is church. hope you are having a great day too.
  9. I love it. If someone asked this question about a cat, we'd be sharing recipes for deep fried kitty by now!
  10. Slumber party? Seriously, have a fantastic day! (and we want to see some pics posted)
  11. Great points! People today want instant gratificaton AND have short memories. Kelly once said he would NEVER play for the Buffalo Bills. I am glad he saw the light. Or maybe it was $$$$$$$ Anyway, now he is a definite WNY legend.
  12. The Dole trade and the Lamonica for Flores and Powell brain fart really pissed me off. Flores became a backup and (I think) QB coach, and Powell never reported. Dole was part of the Over The Hill Gang at Washington, wasn't he?
  13. I have an account at BillsZone. Like Ron Mexico, I gotta try to protect the name.
  14. No, I use bar soap for shaving my face and my head. You callin me a bastard, or you sayin that I'm a flake? Make up yer freakin mind! You want a piece of me, ByTor, bring yer razor!
  15. I certainly hope you can make it. I like potato salad.
  16. I am happy to know Jay is still doing opening day. To me that earns him a spot on the Wall of Fame! I have never gone to The Ralph, Lot One, Pole 5, and NOT found somebody with a pair of tix at face value or less. That's in the past 5 years anyway. There is always someone on the wall that will help for game tickets.
  17. Does driving from Rochester to New York and watching a game with the NYCBBBers at McFaddens count as an away game?
  18. Hammer's Lot, opening day. Stay tuned.
  19. Sanders also made it very clear: On the field he was "Neon Deion", putting on a show and bringing home the bacon. At home he was just Deion, a guy not too many people got to see. Unfortunately, the No Fun League has officials throwing flags for chest thumping, at their personal disgression.
  20. I chose the Texans, only because it is the TBD Tailgate. I can see a football game anytime. I only see that many Wallers, all in one place, once a year.
  21. I use the clippers every other week or so (not a long project) Every now and then I use a razor. Just shaving brush, any soap, and a M3 Turbo or whatever they call the battery powered Mach III. I call it the "R.Rich Look".
  22. I do it without a husband too. I took the winter cover off the see-ment pond this weekend (16x32 inground - 25K gallons), cleaned off the deck, and laid the solar cover on. It will be a good 6 weeks before I can open it, but I'll be ready when Memorial Day gets here. Then me and my son split a few ice cold Guiness Draughts. Life is good.
  23. Does anyone else remember being a kid, raking up rows of leaves about 6 ft x 3 ft x 30 ft and burning them? That used to be the best part of fall in Wyoming County. Every kid would rake - hell we'd rake everyone's yard just for a bigger fire. Parents kept an eye on us so if anyone caught fire, they would get put out quick, heh. Then they changed the laws...... Rake yer own damned yard.
