  1. It's going to bug me when Hyde doesn't even dress so that some player who can only contribute on special teams but rarely does can suit up. Seems like exactly the kind of vet presence you'd want on at least the sideline.
  2. I'll go with the one player on defense who plays consistently well week in and week out - Benford. To make a huge pick in the 2nd half.
  3. Works for me. The blue jerseys in the Bowl were all nightmare games.
  4. I'm pretty sure it's the NFC's turn to pick the uniform, so it's a possibility. Would love to have the chance to wear them, though!
  5. That's actually a good example of how GMs can incorrectly judge a book by its cover. EJ Manuel was the first QB taken, I think in large part because he looked and sounded like he would be a franchise QB.
  6. I mean, you were arguing it, though: "Look at 2011. Cam Newton, fresh off a Heisman and National Championship. But the scouts/executives/etc just couldnt fathom him being the best QB available so everyone pushed "golden boy" Blaine Gabbert to the top of the prospects list." In your own example, you're claiming that the 3rd QB drafted at #10 was more highly regarded than the guy taken #1 overall.
  7. I wonder how Doug Williams feels. Taken in the first round in 1978 and was the first black QB to win a Super Bowl. Kinda get overlooked in all the "pioneer" talk, huh?
  8. This argument is completely ridiculous when considering the fact that the same "racist" NFL front offices drafted numerous black QBs in the top 10 and even with the first overall pick years and even decades before anyone knew who Lamar Jackson was.
  9. It works until it doesn't. There were a lot of Marty Schottenheimer teams that won 12, 13, 14 regular season games and then went ultra-conservative in the playoffs only to get clipped at the end. You have the best player in the league at QB. Don't neuter his ability to make plays, and for the love of God, don't get so in his head about limiting turnovers that you're making him unnecessarily tense.
  10. Heard some insider recently say that he has a reputation as being a "corporate politician" type who manages to survive during bad times when everyone else in the front office and coaching staff is getting canned. Was he as good at this as Russ Brandon? Likely not, but you still don't want to work for a guy like that.
  11. This is the best team of the McDermott era. They are healthy. Despite their record, KC is not the same powerhouse they were in years past. An important question to ask is that, if we go into Arrowhead and lose again (especially in a manner that proves that the Chiefs are the superior team) when will we ever beat them with the current staff and philosophy? I'm not advocating for McDermott to be gone, of course, but there needs to be pressure coming from somewhere to change their overall strategy and be open to bringing in external staff members. You don't earn full-Belichick, king-of-the-castle powers without getting to the SB.
  12. Owners need to think long and hard about how current technology and stadium pricing across the board makes staying home to watch the game a very attractive option. I'm not sure how some teams without a tailgating culture even consistently sell out - that seems to be the one benefit to regularly attending in person.
  13. He broke the Bills single-season record for catches by a TE in his rookie season. They just aren't doing a good job scheming him open. Same with Cooper, same with Coleman, same with Samuels.
  14. It's super-patronizing and always has been.
  15. I think those two guys at the bar somehow knew what the future would bring.
  16. If someone is making $8MM a year to coach football, he shouldn't need to burn valuable timeouts because he can't think two plays ahead, which is exactly what happened on the Bills last scoring drive pn Sunday.
  17. He treats the playoffs differently from the regular season in this regard. I mean, he was clearly terrified of letting the best QB in the league throw the football during the entire second half two days ago.
  18. It's routinely called; he made contact outside of the 5 yard cushion. It only looked like a bad call because Coleman did a terrible job of selling it.
  19. Man, I wish the conference championship games were still at 1 and 4 PM EST. 6:30 start time sucks - ensures that i won't be able to even think about sleeping until after midnight, regardless of outcome.
  20. White physically impeded the route of the WR and held both his arms to boot. Not sure why everyone thought that didn't matter just because Coleman shoved him out of the way.
  21. He was on the precipice of another playoff choke job until that dropped 2PT conversion. Went insanely conservative in the 2nd half, showed zero trust in his best player, and, of course, his vaunted zone defense once again gave up a huge TD drive when we had to have a stop. Sorry, but he continues to make the same mistakes over and over again.
  22. Knox and Coleman too. They simply have no idea how to use them. All the offensive success in the air is due to Allen making things happen.
  23. Most people on this board would be fine with bringing him back year after year to the same results.
  24. They only attempted four passes over 10 yards. With the best QB in football playing at home. The only adjective that comes to mind is "cowardly." That will not work next week.
  25. The lack of pressure probably didn't have much to do with who was out there. The defensive plan is always to be reactive rather than proactive and hope it works out somehow. Yes, they gave up an 88-yard TD drive with no resistance at all, but the Ravens bungled the two-point play, so to this board, that means McDermott can do no wrong.
