  1. Their head coach is much better than ours, though. Needs to be taken into account.
  2. All those picks and resources allocated to the defense, and the line and secondary are still in constant states of flux. Starting to get tiresome.
  3. Roger Goodell, I suppose. Are you familiar with how playoff series were officiated in the NBA during the David Stern era? It's a very doable task, if that is indeed the goal.
  4. His offense was pretty cool to watch his first year in Philly.
  5. One silver lining to the Bills annual crushing playoff loss is that I actually don't want to watch them again for at least seven months.
  6. Betting the ML on the Chiefs for the majority of the season would've allowed you to net like 25% of your initial wager. You're not exactly getting even odds there. The argument, I guess, lies in what the definition of "rigged" is. Officials can be told to favor one team, and another team's performance can still overcome that. The outcome isn't predetermined like in pro wrestling.
  7. I don't think it's rigged, but outcomes can be "encouraged" to some degree. People didn't make a lot of money on KC because they didn't cover the spread much this year.
  8. Sure, but they've always had that. They're trying to grow the audience. That's why they take a home game from teams every year to play important matchups overseas. It's a complete negative from a fair competition standpoint, but they do it anyway.
  9. The American male football fan market is completely saturated. The only way to grow the sport is to concentrate on global efforts (i.e. playing games overseas) and making the game more popular with women (i.e. Tay Tay on the TV). It's not the most unfounded conspiracy theory.
  10. Really all there is to it. They refuse to even hire full-time refs. By eliminating the gray areas of officiating, they also eliminate their ability to "massage" games in the manner they wish. This was a huge problem in the NBA, even before Tim Donaghy, and Goodell seems to have adopted it. Always thought it was odd how close nearly every Super Bowl became after he took over, for example.
  11. This is what actually happened. McDermott went into playoff choke-job mode and put Allen on the shelf for the entire second half because he was so terrified of turning the ball over. Then he instituted his full-time prevent defense which didn't even make an attempt an attempt to go after Jackson or do anything aggressive. You can't get outplayed if your coach doesn't allow you to play in the first place.
  12. I don't think they're capable of doing it, to be honest. They've put tons of effort into building the D-line and secondary, and their only true standout is Benford, a guy they stumbled upon in the 6th round.
  13. McDermott is the worst type of head coach for a QB like him. Cares more about allocating assets for the defense, ultimately wants a ball control offense where the QB is a game manager, and - most importantly - is extremely tense and paranoid about any turnovers at all.
  14. McDermott runs the whole system, and the system is predicated on coordinators deferring to him and running the team his way. Zero chance he brings in anyone that could possibly be considered an equal, especially not if that person wanted to try a different approach.
  15. Dude, the Commanders look like a Division I-AA program every time they take the field. Those uniforms are not to be imitated.
  16. "We honestly believe we're right there" has been the message not only since last year, but since the decade started. It's effectively replaced "Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?" as the official team mantra.
  17. Been hearing that same thing for years. At some point it stops being being bad luck and becomes an actual feature of your football program.
  18. I'd argue that the Rapp and Benford injuries this year were borderline catastrophic for their SB chances. We weren't that healthy.
  19. I've always secretly thought he might retire if he won a Super Bowl, even of it came before he turned 30. Just seems like he's got a whole life outside of football and doesn't really need it. Will the team break his spirit before he even gets to win one? Time will tell!
  20. The defense is constantly out of position to defend against the pass. Ultimately the inability to adjust to that falls on the coaches. As an aside, I wish on offense, we ran high percentage plays like that.
  21. The 13 Seconds game was probably the most cowardly coaching moment in NFL history. He wanted the ball kicked out of the endzone because he was terrified of a miracle return. He allowed Mahomes to hit Kelce over the middle for two uncontested big gains in exchange for not giving up a big play to Hill. He conceded the long FG attempt and was just praying that Butker missed it. The fact that some people watched that and thought to themselves "There's a guy who will win a Super Bowl if we give him enough chances" is beyond me. It's never going to happen, folks.
  22. They just wilt in big moments because of the general demeanor of our coaching staff. Everything is always frantic from the top down. There is never an actual plan in place...the whole philosophy is based on reacting to what the other team does. An absolute equation for losing against top-tier squads.
  23. Nobody on earth thought that our defense - one of the least clutch units in recent NFL memory - was going to get some big stop there. Absolutely no one, including Dawkins and every other player on the team.
  24. Would we even use him? We used a 1st round pick on Kincaid. We used our first pick last year in Coleman. Our biggest free agency signing was Curtis Samuel. We paid a pretty steep price for a half-season rental of Amari Cooper. McDermott and Brady made zero effort to get these guys the ball all season. Were there injuries? Sure, but there were multiple games where they were healthy and not even playing half the snaps. We had one period where we attempted to utilize Allen over the top, and that was with Daboll, who McDermott clashed with because the latter desparately wanted to install his "1995 Pittsburgh Steelers with Neil O'Donnell" system.
  25. The line judge who overturned it with no view of the ball is supposedly an avowed Ravens fan with family ties to Kansas City. https://x.com/tailgate_beers/status/1884309512406110242
