  1. Here's one thing that makes me cringe: look at the teams paying that much money, in a long-term contract, to a safety. None are winners like SF (who let Goldson go) or Baltimore.
  2. That's an interesting hat Gragg is wearing.
  3. Fred is done. I expect a free agent pickup, like Bradshaw or an UDFA, to replace him at some point. Either way, Spiller will get the vast majority of carries. He's a top-six running back. There is a huge amount of Q.B. depth and W.R. depth relative to running back, so he'll be a first-round pick.
  4. Robert Kraft has nothing to do with Kraft Foods.
  5. That's not the case. Periods and commas, in American English, always go inside of quotation marks. Semicolons and question marks, if not part of the quoted sentence, are placed outside of the quotation marks. See the link in my original post.
  6. To be fair, Mario seems to be captivated and excited by the new coaching staff.
  7. Periods go inside of quotation marks. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/577/01/
  8. Meriweather was awful, in my opinion.
  9. Graham would fetch a fifth. Smith and Easley have no trade value. Keep them.
  10. I've always wondered why teams don't have a quality blocker, declared as an eligible receiver, play the role of a sixth blocker. I'm not talking about a blocking T.E., necessarily; I'm talking about a 300-pound athletic guy, like Fisher, who moves around and neutralizes the defense's pass-rushing threat.
  11. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/jason-la-canfora/22170446/from-abraham-to-woodson-where-nine-nfl-veteran-fas-make-most-sense Here's the link to the referenced article written by a CBSSports, not ESPN, writer.
  12. There is, literally, nothing that being on Hard Knocks contributes to a team's win-loss record. On the flip side, though, you expose some element of your team's strategy- as minor as it may be- to other teams. Thankfully, there is zero chance that Marrone, based off what I've seen and heard from him, would do Hard Knocks. Who cares if the Bills are irrelevant? Like the Packers, located in the NFL's most obscure region, they can earn themselves publicity by winning.
  13. Of course it would be exciting; it would also be detrimental to our efforts to win.
  14. James Walker, like Damond Talbot, is a blogger. They write blogs, not articles. That's just not true.
  15. Isn't 6'6" too tall for an interior lineman?
  16. Publicity is useless for an NFL team restrained by the salary cap. Hard Knocks is a distraction for attention-seeking owners. No thanks.
  17. I hope you realize how much dead money is tied into Stevie's contract. We shouldn't trade, and aren't trading, him. Nothing has happened, yet, but I disagree that Blount made "small isolated mistakes." We'll see what happens.
  18. Unfortunately, I agree with this assessment.
  19. I think either Jackson or Choice will be cut. Mark Anderson will probably play LB, and I think you have too many lineman making the team; either Gilbert or Troup will probably be gone. Peters was an athletic freak. Pat Williams bounced around junior colleges and was seen as undraftable. I agree that Chibane has no shot of making the roster.
  20. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2013/story/_/id/9227425/2013-nfl-draft-why-kansas-city-chiefs-regret-drafting-eric-fisher A key note from the article is its list of the left tackles who've started in the last five Super Bowls: Bryant McKinnie, Joe Staley, David Diehl, Matt Light, Chad Clifton, Trai Essex, Jermon Bushrod, Charlie Johnson, Max Starks, Mike Gandy. The writer, Andy Benoit, notes that all of these players- with the exception of Staley- were mediocre players at their position that year. He argues that "skill players who can get the ball in space" are far more valuable in the modern league.
  21. A lost cause is (or was) a guy like Charles Rogers/JaMarcus Russell. Burfict, like LaGarrette Blount, is on the precipice of being where Blackmon is now. Burfict is certainly not, as you put it, a "good character guy."
  22. Yep- they've been criticized for drafting Bjoern Werner, as some scouts have said he's a weak fit for a 3-4 rush LB.
  23. They play completely different roles on defense. I'm not a huge fan of the trade- and tackles are a meaningless statistic, unless you account for where those tackles are made- but I hope you recognize that Hughes is a pass rusher and Sheppard is a 4-3 MLB.

  25. This isn't how our depth chart will be formatted. I expect the nickel role will have its own starter, with someone like Duke Williams being the potential backup at both safety and nickel back; I also expect Aaron Williams and Ron Brooks to backup both positions.
