  1. Seems reasonable to me, this offense needs him thats for sure.
  2. Surprisingly I do actually feel like the Bills are going in the right direction. And this is coming from a true pessimist... When the Bills were healthy, they looked like a playoff team. The 2 games they lost out of the first 7 were by last second field goals, against pretty good teams. Teams rarely go from awful to great in 1 or even 2 seasons. The Bills built up some decent players from the draft, and made some good acquisitions in the past year. Something that they have regularly failed at prior to Nix's tenure. The Bills had what seemed to many like a real lack of talent on offense to begin the season. Gailey has taken a lot of heat, but I think he did a tremendous job with what he had, especially considering the injuries. The Bills obviously still have some serious problems though. For me it starts with George Edwards on defense. I think the Bills have more talent on defense than they do on offense, yet George Edwards hasn't been able to put it to good use. He HAS to go for the Bills to get better. Then there are the obvious personnel needs, OLB, and WR being the big ones. What will really determine if this team gets better is whether the Bills will be willing to keep the good players they have, compete for good FA's that they need, and put up the money to get legitimate assistant coaches. This is really the scariest part of it for me, whether the Bills will spend what it takes. Nix/Gailey have done a good job IMO.
  3. It's a combination of both, plus the offensive scheme IMO. I will admit that I was wrong about some members of the o-line in the pre-season (Mainly Pears and Urbik). The O-line has been more or less solid, especially when you consider all of the injuries. However the good pocket awareness of Fitz, combined with Gailey doing a good job of coaching with "what he has", should get a lot of the credit as well.
  4. I'd take either of these guys, but if they were both available then RG3. You never know how a guy is going to pan out, but RG3 looks as good as any QB prospect I've seen in a while. In reality though, it's far more likely that they will both be long gone. If that's the case we should take the best LB/WR/LT available IMO
  5. Your first few lines say it all... And to your last point, 8 49rs were selected to the pro bowl, Donte was not one of them. Yes Whitner is an alternate along with 8 MORE 49rs, including Blake Costanzo our former ST ace...Meaning if someone gets injured or otherwise pulls out of the pro-bowl, he would be in. I do like Whitner's comments on Wilson though... I certainly can't hate the guy. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2011/12/28/whitner-feels-george-got-robbed/
  6. Here's the thing, the Bills are basically "screwed" at WR. Johnson and his agent know this. They have all of the leverage. IMO, with all of the cap space they have, they not only need to keep Johnson and pay his market value, but pick up another solid WR as well. Be it through the draft or FA. Johnson may have drop issues, but he is solid and has been good in this offense. The simple fact is that this offense probably can't succeed without him. I know there isn't a lot of faith in our FO, but I just don't see the Bills letting him go...
  7. Your logic is laughable here. You are saying that because the 9rs have a great coaching staff, and that staff brought in Whitner, that Whitner must be great? Wow that's a stretch. Belichick brought in Chad Johnson, that means he must be a pro bowler this year too right? Besides, it's always funny when people use coaches and FO's interchangeably. The FO being primarily responsible for player acquisitions, and coaches responsible for COACHING. For instance the Bills were never seriously competing to keep Whitner (Obviously I was fine with this), they have long avoided keeping players by giving them large contracts. That has NOTHING to do with the Bills coaching staff. My post wasn't complicated, it's not hard to understand. I watched most of the 9rs games this year, Whitner played just like he did for the Bills (poorly). The difference is the players around him are MUCH better, and the coaching staff has a great scheme. He is reaping the benefits of having the name recognition of a 1st round pick, and playing behind a group of players that are much better than himself. All just my opinion of course, made from watching the games. Like I said before Wilson outplayed him when healthy...Few people have argued that. Not much about that post that's hard to understand. You are defending your thread that people didn't agree with. Don't take it personally, it happens, you are still welcome to your opinion. But you aren't going to force people to agree with you using twisted logic, and flipping out about real observations...
  8. Don't get me wrong, I like CJ. I definitely don't consider him a bust. I think the Bills picked him with the intention of using him as Bush/Sproles type of back that the saints use. He can do that, he's proved it the last few weeks. And when he gets into space he's very dangerous. I just think they will always need a bigger more "conventional" guy that can do a lot of the "other" RB stuff like blocking, goal line, late game grinding... Jackson can do that... Choice has had to come in during those situations lately, but unfortunately he isn't very good.
  9. Polarizing is the right way to describe him. Personally I like him, he actually forms his own opinions instead of just trying to say what the "public" wants to hear. He also sounds genuinely excited about football and knows the game. The worst Monday night crew ever IMO, by far, was when Dennis Miller was there. He made me want to vommit every time he talked. He knew nothing about football, and tried to force awful jokes down in between plays. Exactly...
  10. I didn't see that thread but, I can't blame those people. Have you watched the 9rs games? I have. I am sorry, but Whitner has been playing EXACTLY how he played with the Bills. Hard hits (that's all he ever tries to do), with whiffed tackles, completely awful pass coverage, and almost always late when playing over the top. The thing is the 9rs have a great coaching staff, and the defense is loaded with solid players at almost every position. I would contend that Whitner is actually the weakest link on that defense. To say HE turned that team around is ludicrous. George Wilson outplayed him BY FAR when healthy this season.
  11. I have some very important breaking news to add... Whitner still sucks, and is reaping the benefit of great players and coaches around him... That is all.
  12. Whoa man. I don't see this being anything CLOSE to that situation, in any way. First off, Travis Henry was a good RB...BUT, he was a train wreck of a person. Secondly, McGehee was about as high as a RB prospect as there was before his college injury. He was a complete back, and an every down back. And really there was no huge drop off in talent from the two. Jackson is a complete, every down back, and is everything this team needs. Spiller is an explosive back, but NOT a complete back. Struggles blocking, has NO power, and cant break tackles or rush for short yardage. He is a great receiver, and an open field weapon, a complementary back. He will never be able to be a true number 1 back in the NFL IMO. If Jackson were to go, the Bills would have to replace him with someone better than Tashard Choice...
  13. Wow, easy there. Center is one of the most important positions of the offense and the Bills lost their top 2. Brown came in and struggled with a few early, but was fine the rest of the game...overreact much? The Miami game was Levitre, who quickly proved he could NOT snap the ball, and was replaced by Urbik, who did fine. Yes... But not every team loses both their starting, and backup center/starting guard, and starting LT. Injuries happen, blaming it on Gailey is just asinine. Urbik did fine at center, you really are just looking for excuse to trash the Bills, no matter how flimsy it may be. Injuries happen, get over it... Oh by the way...The Bills WON last week with their 3rd string emergency replacement center, or weren't you watching? What are you really complaining about?
  14. No, you are missing the point. They are already on the Bills, and at least have potential. Edwards is a known quantity. If you are going to bring someone in, bring someone in that gives you an upgrade, not just more mediocre talent. And with the case of Edwards it comes with a bad attitude as well... Bringing in a trashy player who has basically been a disappointment his entire pro career will not help us get better. If we are going to sign FA's, let's sign good ones, if not, just build through the draft.
  15. ahh yeah, that... Only the Bills can "miss" a kickoff.
  16. Haha, "sore pelvis"? I think that's code for calling him a pu#$#... Seriously though, it's a backup kicker. He did make a few impressive long kicks for us, and it's not like we can blame any loses on him. He was also better on kickoffs than Lindell, who doesn't get many TB's. It is what it is.
  17. This ^ Really insightful post. So does that mean you will not be watching? and this ^ You can tell I've been a Bills fan for a while when 7-9 actually sounds pretty good at this point...
  18. Only the Bills could have two kickers on IR...
  19. I would say Bell is an oft injured, and barely startable LT. With Hairston looking decent, and healthy, I wouldn't be surprised if we have seen the last of Bell. Wood has had 2 serious rolling leg injuries, I wouldn't really call that oft injured, but unlucky so far. He has also looked very good so far when healthy. That was painfully obvious when the offense completely tanked after he was gone (along with others of course). The Bills didn't look any different with Bell than they did with Hairston, Hairston looks to have more upside to me though. That's a strong dude. Yeah, what he said ^
  20. Here we go with the Kelsay hate bandwagon... Kelsay is not as good as he looked in the Broncos game, but not as bad as Bills fans make him out to be. Kelsay is strong, and often gets "near" the QB...What Kelsay doesn't have is the closing burst and more important the agility to actually get to the QB. Tebow holds onto the Ball forever, allowing for Kelsay to get to him. Having said that, while Keslay is not a big "sack guy", he does consistently force the QB to move. If we had ANYONE on the other side that occasionally provide any sort of pressure, they could reap the benefits. Let's get someone BETTER than Kelsay, before we cry more about him. Because right now we don't have anyone even close to being better than him. The guy is what he is, an average at best LB that at least gets near the QB consistently. More than I can say for any other OLB on this team. And for those who consistently play the "contract" card. Kelsay is making 2M this year (not a lot for a 9 year vet), thats it. That "big" contract everyone complains about is loaded with incentives that he is not hitting, and roster bonuses that the Bills can avoid by cutting him or restructuring.
  21. I am routinely disappointed by "shutdown corner", but it looks like they did their homework on this one. I am fairly impressed with the knowledge presented, they must have actually watched a few games this year...
  22. First off Barnett is the best LB we have had on this team in quite some time...To say he needs to be replaced is ridiculous. Now I doubt this is solely due to losing Barnett, but look how bad the Packers D has been this year. Their offense is obviously amazing, but they have really struggled on D. I don't care where we draft, I want to enjoy watching the game like I did against the Broncos. Great players are taken all over the 1st round, not just the top 10. Aaron Rogers went 18th I believe, Brees in the 2nd, Revis 14th... A great OLB would be sweet obviously, I'm not sure I see any that great in this draft though. A top WR could really help this team as well.
  23. I'm not so sure the Bills will resign Bell, not a lot of value there. Hairston looks at least as good to me. They NEED Wood and Jackson, that was painfully obvious this year.
  24. OK, like I said...I like Byrd as a player, and hope the Bills keep him... I remember people talking about Ko Simpson like this after his good year... I am not saying that Byrd is Ko Simpson, but give it a little more time before considering him a hall of famer. He has been solid this year and was great as a rookie, but he was less than stellar last year. He is a FS, he is SUPPOSED to make tackles, especially against a poor defense like the Bills. It kills me when people judge players on "stats". My concern is this, he plays fundamentally well, but rarely makes big plays or tackles. He is frequently late on deep routes, as he is not very aggressive. He IS a good tackler, and has a good eye for the ball. Like I said I like him, but to rate him a "top 10" safety at this point is a little ridiculous, fans from other teams haven't even heard of him yet. George Wilson was dominant before he got hurt. All over the field, making big plays against the run and the pass. A VERY solid tackler, with WR hands. He deserves a big chunk of credit for the early season success. I think we have a very solid secondary overall, with Wilson leading the way. Williams and Byrd have a ton of potential.
