I agree with many of your posts, but you are getting awfully defensive about this one... I responded to EXACTLY what you said, that's all. You had basically said smoking is no different than drinking, and should be treated similarly. I merely explained how they are VERY different. What I said applies regardless of a smoking section or not. Relax, have a smoke. Personally, I don't see where in the Ralph they could have a smoking area that WOULDN'T affect non-smokers. Letting people out obviously would make sense for smokers. I can see wanting that, but it is what it is. The stadium is about football, not smoking. I guess people will have to choose which one is more important to them...

Boom, this is it ^. Stone hands. Is Braylon better than Jones when healthy? Maybe (Jones sucks). Is this the guy we want to try and build a young team around? HELL NO. There is a reason he was only making 1 mil this year...even though the Jets supposedly couldn't afford that according to some of his defenders (they signed plaxico to a 1 year 3 mil contract, and Mason was given a contract paying 1.3 this year). Bottom line is, the Jets didn't want Edwards, for good reason. The 49ers obviously didn't want him either, even though he is active, they are entering a playoff race, and have virtually NO other talent at WR. Harbaugh's comments say it all, saying that Edwards performance in practice and on the field led to the decision (Edwards also had been complaining about how he was used, thats what struggling WR's do...). He is a known quantity at this point in his career. If the Bills won't pony up for a REAL WR this offseason, then they should target one in the draft...Not this loser. My point is this is a mediocre guy, known to have a bad attitude.
-
The Jets and 49'rs obviously don't feel that way... I know what you are saying, we need WR help and he's a big name...I just think the Bills can and should do better. We definitely need a solid WR to play opposite SJ, I just think that they should aim higher than him, be it through the draft or FA.
-
Then just go with the stats part then...He has a proven record of disappointment... Everyone keeps saying "he's ready to break out, he's ready to break out"...he just never does.

Honestly I thought 4-7 wins, but I never expected the Bills to show the amount of promise I saw. When this team was healthy they were legitimately good. We knew they didn't have depth, but I think they have shown that they are building a foundation for the first time in quite a while. Despite not having a winning record, I feel 100 times better about this team than the 2008 team. They had a great draft, and have some top level players. The biggest hole that they have, and have had since they hired him, is George Edwards. This guy is complete and utter garbage. The Bills have decent defensive talent outside of the OLB position, and have underachieved tremendously. Much of that blame has to go to game planning, scheme, and play calling. I thought the offense was great until injuries struck.

Just like Merriman at 27... I've been watching this guy since college and two words fit...overrated, and douche bag. I'll take Easley or Hagan over him, or TO again for that matter. I submit this for consideration, his career stats http://www.nfl.com/player/braylonedwards/2506342/profile I don't judge solely on stats, his play has been as ugly as these stats are. But he had one fluke year of over 1000 yards, and all garbage otherwise...

Yeah I get what you are saying but it comes down to this... If someone near you smokes, chances are you will be forced to inhale the smoke with them. If some one near you drinks, you will not likely be forced to drink the beer with them (peer pressure?). While alcohol does cause those behavior issues above, they are indirect BEHAVIORAL issues. You could compare those secondary effects to a secondary effect such as constantly coughing near you after one is done smoking. It's not the same as being directly affected by actually inhaling or drinking the product. Just pointing out the facts, smoking in public directly affects non smokers. Drinking in public does not directly affect non drinkers. It's very simple actually. You have the right to smoke all you want, but you don't have the right to make others smoke your cigarette with you.

what to root for this weekend
Turbosrrgood replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Skip all of that, I'd love to see the Bills sweep the Pats, but doubt it will happen. They want the #1 seed. So what I will REALLY be rooting for is a little more evil... I want nothing more than for the Jets to lose, or least miss the playoffs. The Bills have basically done exactly what they were expected to do...The Jets though, keep talking all of their trash...Super bowl this, super bowl that...HAH, hopefully those F'ers won't even make the playoffs, and will finish only a game or two better than "the lowly Bills"... -
NO. This guy was overrated his whole career. He will occasionally make a big play, but will drop just as many (I remember one wide open pass go right off his helmet against the Bills...). What he really lacks is consistency. He also is a douche bag as a person, charity stunt aside. To top it off he is starting to have frequent injury problems, and is getting older. If he doesn't have a place on WR starved playoff bound SF team, he doesn't have a place on the Bills... Irrelevant, but Clabo got destroyed on a regular basis last night against a weak Saints pass rush... Just had to point that out

With the injuries will they let Jasper play
Turbosrrgood replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While this guy was a fun off season story, I don't expect much if anything to come of it. Despite his size, he was pushed around just like any other UDFA. I didn't see any reason to think he'd fare better at OG. After watching him in the preseason it was clear that a big body alone does not translate into NFL performance. I should have learned this lesson after Mike Williams... Good to hear he's getting a game check though. They should play him at center for hilarity... -
As with the rest of you I am a big fan of Byrd as well, but I am also a realist. Byrd looked great as a rookie, and has been good this year as well, but I think the above comments are a bit over the top. I would argue that Wilson was the best guy in our secondary this year when healthy. I think that Byrd is solid, but it's way too early to be declaring him a top 10 guy...And if he requires top 10 money (he doesn't, yet at least), consider him gone already. I'm just saying, lets be real. He's a good, solid safety, with high upside, but let's give him another year before we start declaring him the next Ed Reed...

Would Brees have broken the record
Turbosrrgood replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kind of makes you feel for the Chargers a little. They drafted and traded Eli (won a SB over the undefeated Pats), and ditched Brees (won a SB, and is breaking NFL records), all for Rivers who all of the sudden doesn't look so good... I could see this dragging on for decades at TBD if this happened to the Bills... -
This ^ is the key, I think this is more about "rights" for her... As far as the drinking analogy...It's not about whether its good for YOU or not... I've never heard of someone getting drunk from second hand drinking... If a person near you chooses to drink, you are not forced to drink with them. When one smokes though, you are forced to smoke with them.

I'll admit, I had a similar thought after the game. IMO, though the Bills DID play well early in the season. Injuries combined with a lack of depth doomed this season. I think many agree that among the Bill's biggest needs is OLB. There are no "superstars" at that position in this draft, our positioning might be good to land one of the top OLB's in the draft. I wouldn't have minded a shot at Blackmon though

A Baltimore Perspective On Lee Evans !!
Turbosrrgood replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree, the jury is out and has announced their verdict, SOLID win for the Bills. Regardless of whether the Bills have replaced Evans, they are certainly no worse off without him. They dumped his salary, and gained a mid round draft pick. Losing Easly, Parrish, and Jones was unfortunate, but Evans was hurt as well. -
Admittedly I was kind of rooting for a good draft spot, as opposed to a good game last week. However I actually thoroughly enjoyed that game. Spiller looked good, our young draft picks looked good, even Kelsay looked good. Equally fun to watch were the struggles of Von Miller and Tebow. I'll take enjoying a day of football over a few draft spots any day.

I smoked cigarettes when I was in college, and still smoke cigars on occasion at my home. Even with that, I don't have a lot of sympathy here. Cigarette smoke can be very irritating to non smokers, even a ways away. Going 3 hours with out a smoke isn't the end of the world. Who knows, it might even save your life. The Ralph isn't exactly over flowing with extra space, I'm sure that factors in to them not having smoking areas.

A Baltimore Perspective On Lee Evans !!
Turbosrrgood replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just more evidence of good personnel decisions made since the Bills hired a real GM and got rid of Modrak. They had a great draft, and obviously got rid of an overrated player after he hit is prime. Not only that, but they got a decent draft pick in return. The Bronco's only got a 6th rounder for Lloyd, a much better receiver IMO. Despite the let down this year (at least partially due to injuries), I still feel better about this team than I have in a long time. Next year will be key to seeing if the Bills are actually building something, or if this was just another "2008". -
Fire Chan.... Hire Wannstedt
Turbosrrgood replied to GeorgeEdwardsTeeth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hah... +1 The Bills ALREADY hired Wannstedt as a defensive assistant...and wow has the defense looked awful. I personally think Gailey has done a good job with very limited tools on offense, they just need someone to run the defensive side. Edwards/Wannstedt have failed in epic fashion. Keep Gailey, get healthy, and find a capable DC (for cheap of course, or else Ralph won't bite...) -
Do you have some reasoning for believing this? Or just going with the "the opposite of what we are doing must be better" routine.. KW made his only pro bowl as a 3-4 NT (although he was admittedly very good in the 4-3 as well)... Dareus can play anywhere on a 3-4 line and played in a 3-4 in college, he is probably LESS familiar with a 4-3... I would hardly say their "success and strengths" have been limited by scheme. I wouldn't be surprised to see KW back at NT and Dareus at end. We NEED to get rid of George Edwards though, so I guess it depends on what they do on that front...
-
I'll start with someone NOT on the Bills Von Miller - I don't question his pass rushing ability, he is skilled at that...He was thoroughly embarrassed by the Bills last week however. He can be dangerous when penetrating the backfield both against the pass, and occasionally the run. In all other situations though, he is a complete liability. This is why he was benched early in the season. Watching him makes me think he is much better suited as a 4-3 end than a 3-4 OLB. Several of Spiller's big runs came while running straight at Miller. He can't disengage blocks, and doesn't pursue down field. My point is, people LOVE hindsight (even though he was taken BEFORE the bills picked), and say "SEE! We should have taken Von!". Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him on my team, flaws and all. But I would take Dareus over him every time. Miller was completely outplayed last week by this guy Kelsay - I know I'll never be able to change peoples mind about him, that's fine. I have said over and over, he's not a star, but an average at best DE/OLB. Still, the guy gets WAY too much fault for the bad defense. I have also said that other than Dareus, he is the ONLY guy that can put consistent pressure on the QB. He plays with strength, but lacks closing speed and agility, so he doesn't often actually get the sack, but he at least provides pressure. He was all over the field last week, and even got robbed of a FF/sack, that was called an INT. I'd be happy to replace him with someone better, but until we HAVE someone better, give the guy a break. As of yet we have NO capable starter on the other side. He only made 2M base this year, but will make more next year and may be due a roster bonus. For those that hate him, the Bills may cut him for that reason alone... Nix/Gailey drafting - There has been a lot of crying, and of course hindsight about recent drafts. IMO, this past draft was the best since our playoff years. Too much credit was given to them for "their" first draft, when they had just been hired and Modrak was still making the calls (Troup, for instance). Dareus (star), Williams (possible star IMO), Sheppard (TBD, but he's starting at least), Searcy, Hairston (I've been impressed, especially for a 5th rounder, possible Bell replacement [bell likely needs surgery]), Rogers... Everyone knew about Dareus, but I can't understate how high I am on Williams... McKelvin - I never understood why they stopped using this guy on ST? He was mediocre at best as a CB, but always an amazing return guy...WTF, why did it take them so long to put him back there? Tebow - Sucks. Fox deserves all of the credit for that team. That is all.
-
Don't bet on the Bills trying something like that before the draft. I think they will be keeping their options open for an early QB. Perhaps if nothing happens in the draft they would consider replacing Thigpen with a possible safety net for Fitz.

I wonder what you were saying when the Bills were sitting in first place the first 8 weeks of the season? Gailey's team was just fine, and the offense looked great while they were healthy. They lost virtually every key player on the team for some period of time, many for the season. This is the single most important thing that happened to this team this year, we all KNEW that the team didn't have the depth to deal with these injuries. How well this team played when healthy is what gives me a little hope for next year. Uhh, what? I love the 3-4, but I guess I don't get how it's somehow better for this city... I 100% percent agree with you on this one, I HATED the Edwards pick. An inexperienced LB coach (His LB units weren't very good...until he left). This is the #1 thing that the Bills could have controlled that is hurting us now. This ^ Wow, I can't believe you are picking apart our best draft in a LONG time. You don't have to be a genius to draft in HINDSIGHT. Even with that said, Dareus is a stud, Williams has been flat out awesome when healthy, a possible star. Sheppard is our full time starting ILB as a rookie, Hairston started at LT (one of the most important positions in football, despite missing all of training camp)and played great, a 5th round pick. Searcy came in and looked pretty impressive when Wilson went down. Rodgers is playing nickle and returning kicks, and looking great doing both. But Rogers better than Williams? Have you actually watched them? Man you gotta take a breath, step back from the cliff, your getting a little wacky...

Uhh, Moats has made what, 1 or 2 plays this year? Maybe it's because of how Moats seems to disappear when he is on the field, you just don't realize he is there...

Barkley's decision comes this afternoon...
Turbosrrgood replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope comes out and the Redskins take him, and we get RG3 or Blackmon... +1
