Exactly...So many decisions by MM has been poor and childish.....
1. Picking up fights with veterans Moulds, Adams and Williams.
2. Moving Williams from RT to LG
3. Not starting Losman in the meaningless finale...(especially when just 3
weeks before he kept saying it was important for JP to get more playing
time).
4. Not handling the veterans (I would have rather listened to EM, Adams
patiently and given them a big hug and thanks and then continue his
means,k rather than give in to their demands meekly).
5. He took over play calling from Clements, but did no improvement
6. Calling out McGahee in public about dancing around the LoS
7. Game decisions....Punting from the Carolina 32.....
8. Throwing to Shaud Williams or the FB at the goal-line when McGahee is
on the sidelines....
9. Inability to punch it in in the Red Zone by playing smash mouth footballl
as promised.
10. Keep pulling JP out of the game in the 1st 4 weeks....
-
Mularkey should be fired for the single fact that he started Holcomb ahead
of Losman to win a meaningless game... and that backfired.....
-
Defense: 50% for not keeping up their 50% of the bargain
Coaching: 40% for not putting the players in a position to succeed
Offense: 10% stunk up with what they were asked to do.
Remember at the start of the season, this defense prided in itself to be
the best defense in the entire history of NFL....They were wrong by
29 spots.....For that kind of miscalculation, this defense should take the
entire blame....
-
The guy is the hot Coordinator this season....His defense has showed up the
last 5 games and has been the difference in those ball games....Especially
that last quarter in Philadelphia....that defense dominated......a la Marvin
Lewis defense....It is only fair that GW gets his shot at HC job again...But I
doubt he will be a good one...Not all hot DC or OCs go on to become good
HCs....He somehow just did not have that skill to get his players to not make
mental mistakes....
-
I can assure you the Bills are done with "growing pains" and they will play the best QB that's available to them next year. If that happens to be JP then great but if someone besides Holcomb is available in the offseason and the Bills make a play for him then you can add a third to the mix. The NFL is waaaay too competitive a profession to spend more than one year trying to develop a kid.
I think this team has too much weakness on the OL and DL that needs to
be addressed than trying to get another high-priced FA QB....
-
The steelers whipped them pretty solidly behind Big Ben....They have been
soft againt the contenders and pretty hard on the pretenders (a la Vikings).
The Redskins are hot and cold and recycle....It depends on which Santana
Moss shows up on that day.
-
i love it: 'holcombites'
this team has far too many questions on the o line, d line and both aged safety positions to even fantasize that this is a deep playoff team
if it was a potential deep playoff team this year or could be one next year than sure go with KH to put them over the top. he can manage a game and let a dominant special teams, D and running game be the focii.
Can this team get that D and coaching into focus....I think the problems are
much deeper in those sections than the QB.
-
I just hope if KH starts next year he plays like he did against the Bengals for I don't want to see in 2006 the KH that puts up these good looking stats but no impact, winning against average teams but no playoffs for that is what will happen he plays in 2006 like he has in his other 6-7 starts.
I think that is exactly wat happened in Cleveland.....KH got a few games better
than Couch....then gets the starting job, but cannot keep it, because he stinks..
and the QB controversy exploded and cost Butch Davis job.
-
The coaching was the real culprit.....They could never make any adjustments...
They blew a 21 point lead against the hated Miami....They gave up 2 TDs in
the last 4 minutes against NE in NE on a hyped up game, where Bruschi was
coming back to the NFL and everything was loaded against the bills....They
had the Falcons on the ropes in week 3 and still wound up losing.....They had
the Panthers down by 3 points and gave up a 80 yard drive for a game
winning TD.....Add to it the controversies they created with Adams, Moulds
and Mike Williams.....
-
The bills 2005 season was lost because of the Coaches and the Defense not
keeping their end of the bargain......The coaches promised they will run the
ball and keep the drives going....But they went away from it...They were more
intent on handling controversies with Adams, Moulds and Mike Williams....They
did not adjust to game decisions.....
KH has 3 wins....2 were at home against the then BAD Jets and Dolphins...and
even against the fish, we were handing the game back to them every time we
touched the ball.....The only quality win he had was against the Bengals....and
even that he got good help from McGee who himself got 14 points for the
team...Remeber even KH came up with 6 points instead of 14 on the 1st 2
drives with 1st and goal inside the 5......This team has much more problems
than a rookie QB....To say that the rookie QB was the cause for the 2005
debacle is pure stupidity.....

I'm really not unhappy with our tackle play this year. Gnady hasn't been a turnstile at LT and Peters has held up well since he was inserted. Interior line needs to be our off=season focus. Steve Hutchinson and LeCharles Bentley would be nice (albeit expensive) solutions. If TD or his successor can renegotiate big Mike down to a reasonable cap number I'd move him to RG. His cap figure has to come down though, nobody can afford an 11 million dollar guard.
Left to right that'd make
Gandy
Hutchinson
Bentley
M. Williams
Peters
What effect has Peters had on the running game....Ever since he replaced MW the running game has gone south along with the passing game....I don't understand how Peters has been an improvement over MW...The only improvement I see is a guy who is energetic and puts in lots of training rather than a lazy 4th overall pick who is pocketing 11M.....But then if you are a rank outsider trying to get in to a job that you covet at work, won't you be doing the same.....trying to please your boss so as to get that job....
Bottom line, we really need 2 Guards and a center....May be Peters moves to LT and MW gets back his RT spot.....Preston gets the left guard spot and Villarial
stays for one more year at the RG...Villarial and MW had it going together with
the signals etc....Of course this all depends on the finances.....what pay cut is
MW willing to take for a long term security.....

This sounds just like an argument to start JP next year. How about this, we don't name a head coach for 2006 & let Mularkey fight it out in training camp with his assistants and let the best man win. That's how Mularkey has let the latest QB controversy develop and that's why he must go-he's too indecisive to be a good head coach in the NFL. If JP can't play, cut him & move on, if he can, let him play. Mularkey is jerking everyone around because he won't make a decision & stick with it. This was 1st evident when it took so long last year to replace Henry with McGahee. The guy doesn't have it.
Bingo....You hit it on the head....All that indecisveness.....
-
The part about the players playing hard for him is a little absurd....This team
has played without intensity since the 2nd game of the season....going through
motions.....WRs not blocking.....OL not blocking....Safties getting beat on simple
checkdowns....This team has blown more 4th qtr leads than any team in the
league this year.....Where is the mental toughness that MM keeps promising
every week after every defeat....
One perfect example is the NE game....The week was full of issues with the
EM benching...Where were the players ? They got shellacked 35 nothing before
a garbage time TD....
-
Not according to MM....looks like MM is intent on keeping his job safe rather than looking out for the long term of this franchise....I am not syaing JP is the savior, but unless you put these players in to play you are not going to find out...
Look at Tim Anderson....It took him about 1/2 season of games to be a starter
to find out that he can play.....THe last few weeks he has been playing very
well starting from that Carolina game....Young players (especially the ones
drafted in later rounds) take time to get their feet wet in the NFl...Teams have
to be patient.....
It is sad that MM is in with the maddening Veteran crowd and not looking out
for the future...If I were MM, I will be activating Gates (instead of Williams),
give more playing time for Baker and King....Put in preston and Geisinger on
the OL.....It it time to see how our young kids can handle the NFL pressure.
-
Mort was on the evening show (4-7) again yesterday and he was really
irritated about MM being in the list of coaches to be canned....He said MM
won 9 games in his 1st year as a coach...and the bills team is talented...
They have to make their adjustment and changes and move on....TD and
MM are here for the long haul...

Will Crowell be switching to Posey' side now that he has got a contract
extension and Posey has not ?

Brian Billick has proven! that he knows how to be a head coach and can put together world class defense. Not just cause of his "killer" players, but those defenses are just awesome.
I would say though that his approach to offense has been due to a lack of talent. And his offesnse cant be any worse. So that seems to be a good deal for us - a return to defensive greatness, which I think i ours for the taking, and we keep our special teams, and promote either Bobby April or pay him a bit more.
Brian Billick inherited a great Defense and a great director of football operations in Ozzie....
His approach to offense has been his inability to get two 1st Rd QBs get going in
Redman and Boller through his entire career....nor could he get a veteran like
Jeff Garcia going....His fault was not in signing Brad Johnson when the Redskins
let go of him wrongly.
And he had Marvin lewis to run the D during the superbowl victory.
-
The conclusion I hoped people would come to is that yes, starting a guy is the fastest way to get him experience and see what you have, BUT you are taking a step backwards for a few years with bad odds of it working out. In that case, the best strategy for the franchise is to periodically draft guys, let them ride the pine for a few years while you train and evaluate him until you are very confident of his value. It's slower, less sure, but the franchise escapes the qb-go-round that perennial losers get caught up in, drafting and starting a new non-answer every 3 years.
That is why teams like NE periodically keep drafting QB prospects in the later
rounds hoping that while you are nurturing a starter, a gem might break out
down the line....Then you either have the option of replacing with the gem
from the lower round (Tom Brady) or get draft picks for trading (a Jake
Delhomme)....Unfortunately the bills have never done that for a long time...
-
Under this scenario, Jets get the fourth pick in this April's draft. Bills will draft around 10-12 I think. That Tennesee third round pick is looking awfully "tasty" these days! It should be around 68-70 so Bills will pick at ~ 12, 44, 69, 76 (Howsabout 3 offensive linemen and 1 defensive tackle??). Keep Gandy, Peters and release Williams, Anderson, let Teague walk. And STILL sign one free agent offensive tackle at least.
Somehow releasing Mike Williams seems bizzarre...especially considering that
our Running Game has gone SOUTH ever since he was demoted from the RT
position. I am sure McGahee has the same view.
I still think MW can play dominating football and needs a good coach to put him
through the workouts...My feeling is there is more happening at OBD that that
meets the common eye. May be MW is refusing to take a pay cut and making
the bills pay through their nose for an underachieving player...
For the 8 games that Peters has played at RT, I haven't seen any improvement
in the Run blocking.....Until than annoiting Peters as the starting RT for next
year seems absurd.

I dont understand why people think jeff fisher is so great. He sported a great team when Gregg Williams was the defensive coordinator of the team. Ever since Greggo left, the Titans have been short of spectacular. I'm not so sure he would be a great fit here, but i would like to hear some reasons why people think hes a great coach.
I think the loss of Kearse and Eddie George really hurt them...and then the
retirements of Matthews and Wychek....
-
Or maybe , just maybe TD is still the highly qualified and regarded guy he was before he came here, and has simply had players on the offensive line fail for various reasons, some that could only be seen with hindsight. He also made made what I would consider his 1st free agent release that wasn't justified in giving away Pat Williams. He is still fully responsible for the team's poor record, so maybe it's a moot point, but it may be atleast difficult to find a guy out there who's available and better qualified.
The reason TD is a failure and the only reason is his inability to correctly pick
the right coach......TWICE....

MM was going to be run out of town in Pittsburgh, when the Bills made him
the HC.....His offense did suck....even though he resurrcted Maddox's career
that was just one year......
On the other hand,
Russ Grimm was promoted to Assistant HC to prevent other teams from
grabbing him unless for a HC job and he almost got the Chicago job....
If the choice was only to pick from a pool of assistants, I will hire Russ Grimm.
Of course this is all on the assumption that TD is miles away from OBD.
I want Bobby April

Like a Greg Williams....
At least GW and BA are good at the coordinator positions......On the other
hand MM was going to be fired as the OC from the Steelers for the stupid
trick plays he kept calling.....and we hired him as our HC.....
