The fact that we don't get his name called during the game is in itself
a good thing....Coy Wire is what he is, an average football player but
a good guy.....
My other observations:
o Contribution of Troy Vincent to this team.
Troy Vincent is really rubbing off on our CBs. Both Clements and
Vincent have really learnt from TV on how to get to the ball.
Also TV has taught Evans in a big way in how to jump around the
CBs. And finally, he is making plays at the FS position, a position
that was the hottest topic on this board during the 1st 6 weeks of
the season...

Both the Jets and Bills game is on at 1p.m.....the bronco game is at 4.15.
If the Jets lose and the bills win, then the colts will try to defeat the
broncos so that they can get to play the Jets in the 1st round.
If both the Jets and Bills win, then Jets get the 5th seed and the colts will
have to play the broncos or the bills in the 1st round.....and they can
pick who they want to play.
-
WHY is it a great pick? Becuase it turns out to not be a high one? Becuase you, as a fan, can sleep comfortably knowing that the Bills "got one over" on the Cowboys? Because the Bills "took advantage" of the Cowboys with the trade? Or maybe its your need to see the Bills in the Top ten in the draft and you wouldnt have?
Grow up.
I think what gets pushed under this talk is about Julius Jones...The guy has
finally emerged as a viable running back for the bills....At least for now
the cowboys have JJ + 1 1st rd pick and we have JP to match it. If they
unearth a studd with that 1st rd pick (even if it is in the late round) and
the two players go on to be stars, then dallas gets the advantage of
having 2 stars compared to 1 for us. The real value of this trade will
be known in 2-3 years time.

Allthough its amazing how mcgahee has overcome his injury and shown to be an awsome RB in the NFl, but in order to be a "comeback" player u have to have had played the season before atleast....id give my vote to either brees or bettis
question though...is this season considered mcgahee's rookie season and can he be in for rookie of the year?
That is not true...I remember Garrison heart getting the comback player award
a few years ago (in fact he might have done it twice) after coming back from
the previous year from a season ending injury

I don't believe Indy doesn't need the win. They need the momentum. They are hot, and would be stupid to cool it off heading into the playoffs. I just don't believe that Peyton lets this one go. I also don't believe Denver is that good.
Martz is a goddamn moron. Always thought so. His successes were all a result of Vermeil's planning. He can't call a game for sh-- and his baseless arrogance is starting to come back to haunt him. You are right, to rely on him is to put our trust in failure. I'd like to believe that with their playoff hopes resting on it they can take down the Jets at home, and of course we know anything is possible. But Martz has cost his team games and made them look worse than they are.
On the other hand they might want to rest and give the injured ones some rest
before they play the meaningful game. The same goes with the Steelers...
Even though most of the things went in our favor this weekend, the Denver
win is going to very costly. Denver and Jets control their own destiny....They
win and they are in.....We need to win and have one of those lose. If the
Rams and Colts don't show up like the steelers, then we are heading home...
At least we can enjoy the next game witha win.
-
What is the Rams record at home this season?
The Rams have to win tonight against Phi to make that final game meaningful.
Pennington has laid BIG FAT eggs like DB against teams like Pittsburgh and
New England. I am not sure what the hype is all about him.....THe guy had
one of the best runners in the league this year in CM and he comes up empty.

I think people flocked to SF in 1849 for the Gold Rush and that is
hove the 49ers are associsated with it.

I am not able to connect to the chat. Can anyone post the
IP address (not the name) to connect that usually SDS posts
before the game.

and we probably might not have been able to sign Schoebel...plus not
able to get either PW or JJ next year

Why do you have to show so much negativity on the bills...FT is listed as
questionable and that is what it is. May be you guys should worry about
beating the Jets and trying to lock up that 2nd seed.

C’mon! Does anyone really think the Bills are that good? I mean we’ve been winning with smoke & mirrors against lousy teams for the last six weeks.
Bledsoe sucks, McGahee and Henry are damaged goods, we don’t have one quality tight end and the defense and special teams units can’t possible continue to play the way they have been.
I don’t want to ruin anyone’s Christmas but stick a fork in Buffalo’s playoff hopes because they are done!
Thanks for your pessimism buddy....The good think is many of the FANS in this forum are more optimistic than you.

Some of the kudos should go to the coaching staff for having the courage
to let thes guys play on the field and separate themselves from the
pretenders....
GW& co never had the guts to put the untested players in and handed the
jobs to the undeserving veterans.
This staff is seeing what works and what does not and are making the
adjustments....Look at what is happening at LG, TE, RB on offesne
and FS, CB on the defense.
The staff in the preseason talked about both TH and WM in the backfield
but figured out soon that that was not going to work and chose the switch
when things were not working with TH.
Same with CB....Vincent was injured and McGee did a decent job. The
staff was not afraid to ask a veteran FA to move to FS (without having
to shout in their ear to say X player will play Y position as what we feel
and not the way the player feels) in the interest of the team.
Remember when GW asked Cowart to switch to weakside LB when he was
more comfortable with the ILB job and GW blew the issue way out of
proportion. While on the other side we hardly hear anything about our
current coaching staff......MM is going through his growing pains, but
has minimized the mistakes on game day.

Yes. Chris Gardoci of the steelers is the alternate for the Pro Bowl.

Just for ***** and giggles, wouldn't we want the Bills to beat the Steelers at full strength? Honestly, we know that the Bills need the win to have a shot at the playoffs, but in reality, wouldn't we be fooling ourselves by beating them at half strength and then possibly going into the playoffs not knowing if the Bills can realistically compete with the other playoff bound teams?
I would rather beat the Steelers with all their starters playing, knowing that "if" they do make the playoffs, they then have a chance at beating anyone they face. Playoffs in the NFL aren't set up for teams backing in. What's the point of backing in just to get your head handed to you the next week. I personally would rather see them get in on a roll by beating the "best" team in the league knowing that they have a realistic shot at going deep into the playoffs.
You can only work with what is given to you....If the steelers decide to rest
their starters it is not the bills problem..and the NFL is not going to discount
the win in such a case.
From the Steelers point of view, they have already had injuries t0 10 starters...actually much more than the eagles or the falcons, but their names
don't rhyme with Owens or Vick hence not much is known.......The steelers
have been without their starting LB, starting WR, starting TE, starting Guard
starting Nose Tackle, starting CB...It is in their best interest to preserver
the rest of their starters for the playoff run.

Of the current pack, if the Jets and Jax take care of business they are in...they
don't need any outside help. (Jax need to win 2 and Jets 1 of 2 for this scenario).
If they all finish 10-6, then Jax go in (they don't need any help).
The bills have a better record than the Jets over common opponents and that
pushes the bills into the 6th spot.

There are 12:
Terrence Newman
Marcus Trufant
Andre Woolfolk
Sammy Davis
Eugene Wilson
Drayton Florence
Ricky Manning Jr.
Donald Strickland
Dennis Weathersby
DeJuan Groce
Nnamdi Asomugha
Charles Tillman
In hindsight, how many would you have chosen before Mcgee? I think Donahoe and Modrak did there homework on this one.
Drafting is like crap shoot...nothing is guaranteed...it works 50% of the time
and it does not work the rest....If you get 3 players to be successful in each
draft you have done good....

Again people have to do other peoples homework when a 2 second google
search would have caught it

What team would you bet on staight up to win the playoff game? Pats or Steelers?
Pittsburg is led by a rookie and has made a cottage industry of losing playoff games this past decade. The Patriots have won 2 Superbowl in the last 3 years and put together an unreal winning streak this season. The Steelers being one game ahead in the standings and them trounsing the Pats at home means little to me. We trounsed the Pats at home last season and what did that prove? Regular season record is a factor but it should not be the only factor in determining who's better than someone else. The only way I put the Steelers ahead is if the Pats lose to the Jets making it a trend.
The fact that the Steelers trounced the Patriots at home and that it was not
a close game does mean something, especially come playoffs....The road to
the superbowl goes through Pittsburgh and the chances of the Pats beating
the steelers in their own backyard is quite hard.

Hines Ward probably will get the other slot on name recognition...the 3rd
one will probably be Marvin Harrison.
Here my predicted AFC team:

Curtis Martin
Corey Dillon
La Danian Tomlinson
Dan Kreider
WR
Marvin Harrison
Hines Ward

Tony Gonzalez
OL
Jonathan Ogden

Mawae
Kicker
Adam Vinateri

"If you want to be gentle, you can say that the Pats had an off night against a team playing out of its mind, and the real Pats will show up once the stakes are raised. If you want to be nasty, you can say that the deficiencies in their secondary were exposed. And if you want to be real nasty, you can say that Charlie Weis' double shift, Notre Dame and Foxborough, had some sort of subterranean influence that not even Bill Belichick's defensive bag of tricks (no linemen, six LBs, etc.) could cover."
The whispers are getting louder...
Can't wait for the media in this town (Boston) to run with it. I've got goosebumps...goose-bumps.
The Weis angle is the most stupid of all....Weis does not play the game or
make the throws.....Of course he could have done a better job of play calling
in the 4th qtr to run out the clock....May be BB told him to run up the score on
the dolphins on MNF.
Wade Phillips STILL screwing the Bills...

The guy took us to two playoff games in 3 years and you call him
incompetent....And in both the games, he almost won them....If Thomas
picksup the blitz then Flutie throws that TD to win against Miami.
Even in the final year he had the team up for the playoffs before
we lost 3 starters in the 1st quarter sickeningly to the Tampa Bay
Bucs and lost a close game.....Then Cowart was out with a high
ankle sprain for the next 6 weeks and we Rosened down in the
rest of the 5 games of the season. And the front office turmoil
that year was a distraction with Butler refusing Wilsons offers and
getting fired.
