That is exactly what I don't want to hear from MM.....Based on what MM
did in the later half of the season (Adams benching, Moulds suspension,
Losman benching), he is exactlhy not the person to get recommendations
from regarding players.
-
We are not going to see improvement in Losman if we continue to keep pulliong
him out and keeping him away from games.....If MM will not commit to Losman
no matter how the results turn out, we will be 5-11 again and with no respite
in sight....
-
and may be even JP Losman, Sam Adams......Will Fletcher and Nate re-sign
with us now ?
Will the new incoming GM franchise Nate ?
How will the new GM address the OL and DL...
So many questions. The offseason has begun...though would have loved
to see MM gone....

BRH,
Thanks for the excellent update for folks who are behind a FW and can't run
a real player.

The one area you can quibble about Mr. Wilson's sincerity is when it comes to paying for top flite HCs. Other than that, a Bills fan has little to B word about in terms of ownership's willingness to spend money. From paying for the facilities' improvements, to paying for free agents, to buying leftover tickets to lift TV blackouts...Mr. Wilson has delivered.
Agreed...He even allowed TD to re-do Bledsoe's contract (which they need
not have done at all) only to see TD fire Bledsoe....
He paid the 10M signing bonus to retain Moulds and get TKO....
He paid the big contract at the last minute to allow the signing of Milloy.....
-
or the game against Miami.....
Bottomline is this coaching staff did not put a young QB in a position to
succeed...by running the ball and playing smash-mouth-football.....If this
team took care of punching the ball in the redzone, and covnerted all those
FGs to TDs, we would have won more than 5 games...
-
Yes he was. He injured his throwing shoulder and his leg 2 weeks earlier and couldn't even practice until a couple days before the game.
But Mularkey should have definitely gone with the injured young QB who hadn't even been able to practice the week before the meaningless final game.
Brilliant.
Please look up the IR for week17....Lolsman is listed as Probable, which in
NFL parlance...is ready to play....Mike himself said in his PC that Losman
was ready....Starting Holcomb on week17 had nothing to do with Losman
non-injury.

Wrong
That was yet another media created story.
A direct quote from Faneca:
"Everybody's got to do a little more," Faneca said. "Everybody's got to help out, got to do a little more, do a little extra, take that extra step, put the extra work in this week and rally around him and help out."
Yeah, he's really criticizing and crying there.
Wrong again. Roehtlisberger's 1st 6 games saw him put up 10 TD's to 4 picks for 188yrds/game with a completion % of 66.5.
After that fine start in his last 10 games he proceeded to put up 11 TD's to 15 turnovers for 185yrds/game with a completion % of about 63.
If you're going to repeatedly bash the Bills coaches and reach around the league for reasons they're inadequate, at least try not to flat out make stuff up.
I live in the Burgh and I remember ever media outlet critcizing Faneca for
giving that talk and Faneca had to back up a little bit on it...
My #s of Big Ben might have been wrong....but the point I was mak.ng was
Big Ben was not asked to make the plays.....he was asked to manage the
game (like Kyle Orton did this year).....His RBs scored 100yards consistently
and had their team leading in most of the games...His WRs put him in a
position where his catches could be caught only by them.....
-
Trading for Bledsoe itself was not a mistake....He sold another 5000 season
tickets.....The mistake was giving up our 1st rounder.....especially when we
could have had Drew for free.....there was no one bidding for him....and
In fact everything about bledsoe was kind of mistake...
1. Trading the 1st rounder for him.
2. Not putting the right personnel (good OL) for Drew to succeed
3. Extending his contract by paying the bonus and then cutting him at
the end of the season put a big salary cap burden for this season, especially
considering that we cut him in March rather than after June 1st.
4. Not seeking a trade for DB....I did not really understand this....We cut him
early (in respecting a great player) so that he can latch on to another team
and got nothing for him...and in the sasme year we show no respect to
a RB who had carried for 1300+ yards for 2 consecutive seasons and held on
to him (without givine him any respect or a chance to latch on to another team)
and finally traded him to the RB needy Titans...Why couldn't we have done
the same thing to Drew and got a draft pick for that.....Didn't Bellichek do
the same thing....It is not as if the cap hit would have been any different....
That blows my mind even today...why TD and the bills showed one way to
one player and played hard ball with another (essentially messing up with
his career...imagine....may be TH flourishes in Arizona with the kind of RBs
they have had)......Seems to be prejudiced actions...
-
You got your facts wrong....Losman was not injured for the final game...He
was not on the injuly report.

5. Minnesota – A new owner, an ill-fated boat party, trading away Randy Moss, and now rumors that Dante Culpepper will be sent packing. The Vikings need a cop as much as they need a coach. This is a team that can win, but too many questions still and will loom next year. The one plus is that the new owner is showing he’ll spend the dough necessary to win, and the defense’s retooling is going well and will likely continue this offseason.
The vikings were a good example of how to not build a team...Their defense
were made of high-priced veteran acquisitons...Though the team played there
mid-season soft schedule very good winning 6 in a row, when the games
mattered they were pushed around.......and that defense could not hold
anyone...The steelerso went into their house and rammed it down their
throat.....
-
Agreed...there seems to be too many reasons to not keep MM around....
If this team needs to forget this horrendous season and move forwards
entities responsible for this season have to be purged.....and that role
solely belongs to MM, who couldn't captain this team....Mike please
step aside....and let this ship move forward.
-
THANK YOU, Amazing Grant! This is my point, exactly.
I give you the NY Giants of last year as an example. They brought Manning in, started him mid-year rather abruptly, pretty much changing the teams mode from attempting to contend with Kurt Warner to rebuilding with Manning. Not a word was said by anyone on the team about the move, at pleast not publicly. It was accepted that the team was heading in a different direction to rebuild now and win later and everyone was on board with that. Even when Manning's play was less than good, those first few games of his, they were all on board with the team's goals.
Youre not seeing that with the Bills. There is talk.."rumblings"....that everyone is NOT on board with "the plan". Whatever the reason for that, the fact that the entire team isnt working towards the same goal is very, very troubling.
And go back one more year again....When Big Ben was inserted instead of
Maddox after Maddox was injured, their starting LG all-pro Alan Faneca
criticized and cried about his chances of making the playoffs being slim....and
how did Cowher handle it.....inside the locker room....not a distraction....
Veterans are going to B word about young QBs starting and playing inconsistently...
However it is up to the coaches to sell their plan and ensure that the young
player is not distracted and the veterans buy into it.....You have to win ball
games to make this go away....and Big Ben did just that....But if you go back
and see the 1st 5 or 6 games of Ben, they were Kyle Ortonesque.....except that
his teamates namely Hines Ward and the linemen and the RB and their Defense
took the onus of winning the game and not putting everything in the hands of
their young QB....
Unfortunately for us, neither our defense nor our OL nor the Running game
or our veteran WRs provided a semblance of support for the young QB and
they were all ready to put the blame on the young QB.
-
Two things that had to happen for us to have a successful 2005 season.
1) The defense had to continue to play at a championship level.
2) Willis McGahee had to carry the offense.
Neither happened.
As for Bledsoe, he can have the starting QB job back when he can beat Pittsburgh's 3rd string.
Agreed....Agreed....Agreed....on all counts....
And don't forget the coaches promising to deliver all of the above and then
completely chose to not follow that plan....
-
With the way the season has unfolded, I don't know if JP and
MM can co-exist....Where is the trust in their working relationship.
MM has left JP high and dry by not starting him in a meaningless
game even though he was not on the injury report. Plus MM did
not back off from the Veterans whining about the QB play and
actually put in Holcomb....Do you think JP is going to trust his
career with MM....
Which other young QB will want to come to Buffalo (or even a
veteran) after the problems that happened here in this season...
Are we stuck with Kelly Holcomb as our starting QB....Looks like
that is going to be the case, if MM is retained as our HC for the
next season.
-
May be that is what RW is doing....He is going to give Levy the option to
decide the coach....But then considering that Marv liked MM asthe HC for
the bills, just a month ago.....I don't see any change...
My biggest problem with keeping MM is what is going to be the relationship
between MM and JPL....I am sure JP is seething with rage for the way he
has been treated by MM...Plus he probably has no confidence that MM will
back him to the hilt when Veterans whine....
-
-
-
I agree....This is worse than the 5 years of TD regime....
We need to clean the house...MM needs to go.....Modrak needs to goo.....
After all he is the head scout and I am sure he had the biggest influence
on TD to pick Parrish etc...
-
Like a Greg Williams....
At least GW and BA are good at the coordinator positions......On the other
hand MM was going to be fired as the OC from the Steelers for the stupid
trick plays he kept calling.....and we hired him as our HC.....
-
Exactly...So many decisions by MM has been poor and childish.....
1. Picking up fights with veterans Moulds, Adams and Williams.
2. Moving Williams from RT to LG
3. Not starting Losman in the meaningless finale...(especially when just 3
weeks before he kept saying it was important for JP to get more playing
time).
4. Not handling the veterans (I would have rather listened to EM, Adams
patiently and given them a big hug and thanks and then continue his
means,k rather than give in to their demands meekly).
5. He took over play calling from Clements, but did no improvement
6. Calling out McGahee in public about dancing around the LoS
7. Game decisions....Punting from the Carolina 32.....
8. Throwing to Shaud Williams or the FB at the goal-line when McGahee is
on the sidelines....
9. Inability to punch it in in the Red Zone by playing smash mouth footballl
as promised.
10. Keep pulling JP out of the game in the 1st 4 weeks....
Would you trade Losman for Eli?

For that you need a Coaching staff that is committed to running the ball and taking
the pressure of a young QB and a Defense that keeps ups its end of the bargain.
