symptoms include terse, high-volume responses to any question asked of me, an inability to stop pacing in front of the GB game, a desire for scotch, clenched teeth, and a conscious nightmre that involves nate clements and a 4th and game pass in september.
What the Favre is going on out there?
I don't understand this clements bashing....Why can't Mularkey be blamed
for not challenging the goaline Henry TD call against the Raiders...
Why can't Jerry Gray be bashed for being unable to stop the Jets from
marching to the winning FG when we scored the TD to take the lead...
Why can't DB be bashed (not that he is not yet ever :-)) for making the
stupid fumble that was returned for a TD when we were just down by
7 and driving towards the NE endzone...
We can go on and on....but those are over....We have to figure out how to
win the next 2 and hope Baltimore and Jax drop 1 of 2.

We beat the teams on our schedule. Its hard to do anything other than that. Are you trying to tell me that every team with a winning record has only beaten teams with winning records? You know that is not even mathematically possible. Seems to me we've played mostly the same schedule as NE. We beat a team today that NE just edged out by one TD. And that was at NE. Pitssburgh beat the powerhouse Giants yesterday. See what I mean?
Well said
and that too the bengals took the pats to the wire in their own house, whereas
we had to go down to the bengals to win...Please....a win is a win, whether iti
is over Arizona or NE....The NFL playoffs rules don't preclude teams defeating
1-15 teams from making the playoffs.

Montana never had the gaudy stats that people like Marino and Warren Moon
put up....but he knew how to win games and make the clutch throws when
needed.... Both BRady and Ben have shown that consistently this year...
It is not Ben's fault that his supporting cast is so good and the OC has put
in a very conservative game plan to restrict what Ben can do.
-
The bengals have their own stars and Tory James is leading in INTs with 7.
If we don't stop Chad Johnson and Rudi Johnson both of whom are having
great years, we will be at the receiving end tomorrow...
Rudi Johnson excels in running on the edge....Our weakness against the
run has been at the edge....If we let Rudi run wild we are in trouble...
Plus the Bengals almost made it to the playoffs last year...To call them
still rebuilding is a little reach....The bengals were 8-8 and we were 6-10
last year...

ReplayTV already has this feature for quite a while. One can record in the living room and then watch the recorded program from another replaytv unit. In fact using
DVArchive (s/w program) you can convert hook up your PC with the ReplayTV
network (local) and watch the programs recorded on replay-tv on your computer using stream media viewer like VideoLAN.
Replay TV Comes with a USB and a Ethernet output. However, they disabled
their USB support and provide only ethernet support. But it is pretty cool...
You can also download the programs on to the PCs local disk using the
DVArchive program and watch them on your PC (or burn DVDs of the programs)

Another reach pick by Butler.....I remember at that time he was projected
as a 4th round pick....JB picked him in the 2nd round.
-
Travis Henry - 5 starts, 23 sacks given up against Bledsoe
Willis McGahee- 8 starts, 9 sacks against Bledsoe
Tell me those numbers don't jump out at you. Now obviously Travis didn't give up a lot of those sacks, but I think it's a good indicator that Willis is doing a good job with his pass protection.
How did the OL play the 1st 6 weeks and how have they been playing the
last 7 weeks...Don't put the blame on one single guy..... Remember who
was the starting 2nd WR in the 1st 5 games....it was Josh Reed....He kept
dropping pass after pass.....why doesn't he get any blame.....
TH had problems going into the season....He was caught looking in
the mirror to see if WM was running behind him...He got caught in
that pressure and could not force his way out...We all know where
TH deficiencies are....but give the guy a break...to put the whole
blame on him is ridiculous.
-
Charles Rogers, Mr. Fair Catch...the guy cost us a mid-round draft pick.
Gabe Northern....the guy started well....but then went to obscurity....
Same with the guy who came from VaTech a few years ago and was even
shot and then got cut....LB converted to DE...

With Pro-bowler Troy Vincient joining Pro-bowler Lawyer Milloy as our two safeties, doesn't that give us the best safety tandem in the leage? Or the potential to be, once Vincient perfects the posistion?
What other safety tandem is as dominant? I concede that I may be ignorant here, but aren't we potentially the best... by far?!
Troy Polamalu is playing lights out here for the steelers and he is probably the best safety today...the intensity is really amazing.

If the supporting cast has improved dramatically in SD that has helped in
the emergence of Brees, may be they don't miss a beat. Look at the
Steelers....Big Ben came into the right situation (good RBs, good WRs
good TEs and a dominating OL) and has not missed a beat....SD could do
the same.

Your questions are valid....However it is the optimism from such events
that keep you going...Remember BB did not become a god overnight in
NE....He was struggling his first two years and the Pats were not even
sure if he was the right choice.....and then suddenly the team transformed
and now is a major player.....Give TD and the bills that benefit of doubt...
I agree this team does have weakness or unknowns at QB, TE, K and some
of the defensive players....but I don't know if it is a aging group....I still think
Troy Vincent, Sam Adams and Pat Williams can play at high level for another
3 years....and that is the window in which TD and gang will have to take the
bills deep into the playoffs and even win a superbowl.
But that goes for all the teams in the NFL....In todays nfl there is no such team
that is a complete team...Even the Patriots have lots of weakness that they
can overcome due to their strengths in other areas.....Plus once you guys
start losing a few games, then you will see losing more often....
The bills are on a hot streak and it is ok for us fans to enjoy the streak just as you guys enjoyed every bit of the 20 game streak.

Somehow Henry and the OL started on the wrong foot and ended up not giving us
a running game. Once our running game was stalled, the opponent Ds
started squaring on the DB. DB made mistakes and couldn't handle the
pressure and made quite a few lousy decisions that cost us games.
Once the OL sorted out its starters (from Pucillo to Smith to Tucker)
and WM came in and gave the spark, it allowed DB the extra time to
look for his receivers downfield. This allowed Ds to back off and
respect both the running and passing game.
Once the Offense started establishing itself and putting points on the
board the defense having to spend lesser time on the field was able
to attack more and get more turnovers and shorten the field for the
offense to score TDs instead of field goals....
Bottom line, the OL needed to gel, find the players from the
pretenders and the coaching staff took 1/2 the season for the players
to buy into their system.
The fact that Bledsoe has thrown a bunch of interceptions or fumbles
the last few games and we have still won inspite of that shows that
this teams confidence is at an all time high.
-
Drew Brees did nada in his 1st 3 years with the Charger..Any GM would have
gone for that pick after seeing DB play last year, especially when he had the
best RB in the league standing behind him.....Plus they got an extra 1st
rounder for the swap.
When you have the 1st pick and the stakes are high, you deal with them.

Continuing on the same subject, which teams were over-rated at the
beginning of the season and the record they have to show for.
My picks are:
1. Dallas - Was overated after they over-achieved last year to a 10-6 record.
2. Minnesota - With TC as the DC and acquiring Winfield they were a
favorites to win the NFC north. Now they are fighting for a playoff spot.
3. Washington was given way too much credit for hiring Gibbs and Brunell
and Clinton Portis.
4. Baltimore was the chick pick to win the AFC north. Now they are 2 games
away from not making the playoffs.

Today morning Mike & Mike were discussing the teams that are likely
to make a QB change next season...They listed 10 or 11 teams and
the bills were not one of the them. Their list included
Miami
San Francisco
New Orleans
Dallas
Washington
Arizona
Oakland

While Saban is a great college coach, and could become a good NFL coach, in recent years college coaches have bombed in the NFL. He is the type of unproven coach that could set them back a few more years.
Anybody know if Saban has any NFL experience? I know he coached at LSU and MSU but thats the extent of my knowledge.
Wasn't he the DC for Belichek at Cleveland.

I think just about everyone assumed Drew Brees wouldn't be a charger next year, but now that they are a 'powehouse', I would see no reason to get rid of him.
Rivers, on the other hand, could probably get you a 1st and 2nd rounder, or whatever your needs are.
The Chargers already have their own first rounder next year, plus the one from the Giants.
They could possible have THREE first round picks if they were to trade him away.
Brees is only 25, and obviously not making 1st round money like Rivers would be.
If I was San Diego, I would trade him, get a 1st and a 2nn(or third), pick up a backup QB in the second in 2005, and then swim around in all of my 1st round picks for a while.
The cap hit would be tremendous (all his signing bonus will be accelarated)...plus they will have to fit 3 or 4 1st rounders within their salary cap and then will also have to pay a huge signing bonus (10 to 15M) to Brees on a new contract....Not going to happen.....
The best thing they can do is, put the franchise tag on him and trade his rights to another team like Miami or Dallas for draft picks...otherwise he is walking free

And the funny thing is we heckle all the sports writers for showing no respect
to us, when we start to win and once they jump on the bandwagon then we
write that we don't like these kind of media attention.....How fickle we are
-
The bengals are 2 games behind the current playoff contenders....Their
chances are much more slim (just some mathematical possibilities as
they can only finish 9-7 at best). Their loss to NE has to hurt them real
hard.

The key thing to note about the relativegood days these RBs hadwas that the real inconsistency as far as run stuffing these two was in the difference in how we handled them by halves. Of the 85 yards Taylor put up most of this came in the first half as Gray and the D shut down the Ravens in the second half. Likewise against Miami as Morris seemed well on his way to putting up 100 yarfs rushing but adjustments were made that held him to I think about 8 yards in the second half.
The key is in the Miami game we were still in the game at the half while
against the Ravens we were down by 14 by the time. If we are down by
10+ points by the half, then Grays adjustments might be too late...
One of our weakness also has been to stop the run game on the outside.
Quite a few teams ran with success towards Schoebel avoiding the big
2 in the middle...OUr ends have to play a good run-stopping game to
stop Rudy and company and make the bengals one dimensional.
Great game, love this team

I don't think MW is going anywhere anytime soon....and the guy is going to
be playing RT for quite a while....GIve him another year with McNally and he
should be there....Even this year his performane has been much much better
than the guy at Minnesota...
