1. I am pretty sure you're incorrect about the Bills givng up right to compensation for giving permission to talk to other teams. Payton reportly has been granted permission to speak with the Bills -- does that mean the Bills could hire him as their OC without owing Dallas anything? I think not. You can say it isn't the same thing, but it is. The bottomline is that Grey is conractually obligated to the Bills. Until the Bills release him from that contract, he cannot coach anywhere else, unless, as per NFL rules, another team offers Grey a promotion or comes to an agreement with the Bills.

    571043

Peyton is interviewing (or possible) for a HC job not a OC job....A HC job is

a promotion for him, hence there will be no compensation involved if he does

become the HC of the bills.

  2. And the 1st time might be TWICE...

Is it accurate to say that if Pittsburgh or Carolina win....they will be the only team(s) to advance to the Super Bowl and win 3 straight road games to do it???

    569226

Yeah...Dick Enberg mentioned that this is the 1st time a team seeded 6th

has gone past the Divisional championship.....

  3. If the colts attempt to even make one running play to shorten the

kicking range, Mike V makes the field goal and the game goes into

OT.....But the COlts under Manning got Cocky and went for the

TD on all the 3 downs....

Something eerily similar for the bills..except that we did try to run

but the GIants stopped us knowing we would run....

  4. I thought Brady played a pretty good game. His WR's seem to drop some key passes at key times during the game.

Brady is 10-1 in the playoffs, what else can you say?

    567927

Not really...Brady actually had an awful game....He overthrew and underthrew

his receivers...Credit should go to the Denver Broncos front 7 for putting

the pressure and confusing the hell out of brady...

Brady had an off game....5 turnovers in the game will bite you in the

end...especially like the kickoff return muff giving the ball at your onw

25 in a playoff game will cost you a game....

  5. I was thinking the same thing. I would think that with the new regime and a new coach Moulds may redo his contract ...

    567697

Unless Moulds can resolve with Levy/New Coach the issue of playing or

not playing with JP (or for that matter if JP isgoing to be the starter or

compete for the starting job) Moulds is not going to re-do his contract.

  6. See my Post a week back that said its Jeff Fisher or Marty that will be next HC, interesting thing is both are currently employed so hopefully we wont be given a draft pick for Marty.  Personnally I like Jeff F better.

    565813

I don't mind giving a 4th rounder (similar compensation for Edwards) if we

can get it done....I still think Mike Sherman will be a good coach for this team

    though....

  7.   i dont.  we couldn't beat pitt's backups in our yard last season and we had a better team then than we do now.

    go figure...

    565741

That is because we got out coached.....LeBeau knew exactly when we would

be calling run plays....and he knew when Jerry Gray would blitz.

  8. Looks like the Raiders are the only AFC team that comes close to matching our ineptitude.

Maybe the Browns since Butch Davis was so bad, but Crennel appears to have a clue what he's doing after 1 year and lots of injuries.

    565534

    Don't forget Arizona and Detroit....

  9. Yes- Monty Kiffen Buccs DC- Jim Bates Packers DC - Tim Lewis DC Giants although he is young and I don't know his resume'- So if you want to jump on me about that I guess you could.  I think Bobby April just might be a good HC.  Tom Moore OC- Colts.  A few others.  I can get back to you if you would like me too!

    565652

Tim Lewis....I don't want another of the Pittsburgh connection back here.....

    Mike Sherman Please....

  10. I'm facing reality, We have a good core of players and will not take as many years to get better as the bengals, cardinals, lions or 49ers because of this core of players. There are a few spots we need to improve on tat can be done in the off season. Coaching was one of them. Now hopefully we can find a head coach who can lead this team and we can be a good team again.

    564997

If only they will let the QB play the games and take his learning lumps.....That

is one of the reasons I wanted MM out of here...He messed up that spot with

his lousy handling of the QB situation.

  11. I forgot to mention Mike Sherman.  He is significantly better than the rest of the lot, but he had #4 the whole time, and when he went bad, the team couldn't play it's way out of a box.

    565015

When you lost 3/5th of your starting OL, your starting TE, starting RB, backup RB, backup-backup RB, backup-backup-backup-RB, startang WR, and to top it one

of the weakest defense in the league.....how are you going to win even with #4

    behind your center ?

I agree Mike Sherman stunk up the joint as the GM...but as a coach I think he

did a wonderful job...plus he understands the blue-collar small town mentaility...

  12. Where is your argument against Sherman...Not a single word.....Sherman

record prior to this year is as follows:

Sherman has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments en route to a 55-31 overall record in his five seasons as Green Bay's head coach. Among them are:

    Three straight (NFC North) division titles for only the fourth time in team history, joining Lombardi's three-time winners of 1960-62 and 1965-67, along with the 1995-97 division champions of Mike Holmgren;

    Four consecutive playoff appearances;

    Five straight winning seasons (9-7 in 2000, 12-4 in 2001 and '02, 10-6 in 2003 and '04);

    Reaching 50 career victories, including playoffs, second fastest among the Packers' 13 head coaches;

Three of the Packers' six winning records on the road over the past 36 seasons, including last year's 6-2 mark away from home - Green Bay's best since 1972; and

A 20-4 regular-season record (.833) Dec. 1 or later - best in the NFL the past five seasons - including a perfect 4-0 in both 2000 and 2003 (the Packers have a plus-28 turnover ratio in those 24 games).

  13. Haslett is the guy with HC experience among those three....But I really

like Mike Sherman. The guy took his team to 3 playoffs in 4 years...

The only negative effect will be is our Offense will have to learn the

WC offense which takes time...but then currently this team has no

    offensive identity to begin with....

    564949

Getting Mike Sherman also might get us our defensive coordinator in

Jim bates....That guy can flat out coach and if I remember the Fish players

    loved playing for him.

  14. Haslett !

    564731

Haslett is the guy with HC experience among those three....But I really

like Mike Sherman. The guy took his team to 3 playoffs in 4 years...

  15. Moulds Yards after catch was horrible this season

Moulds never fit in with Evans...Did you forget the pouting on the sidelines in Joe Robbie Stadium

Bills will probably have another Weak HC, which means TO will have a field day,

especially if JP is going to be the QB....

DR will use both TO and WM to get huge contracs for each other.

  16. For once Jerry Sullivan put it out correct, here is the quote:

Wilson says the future is now. He talks about making a fresh start. Thanks to Mularkey, he and Levy have a legitimate chance to start over. We've had enough comedy. It's time for Wilson to put his money where his mouth is.

Retaining Mularkey was going to be disastorous under any circumstances...

The pressure on MM would have been enormous to take the bills to the playoffs

next season...With a uncertain QB position, Mularkey was going to be in the

    hot seat....

Now a new coach can come and chose which way they want to go and keep it.

I hope they don't keep going back between JP and Holcomb....In fact I would

rather have Holcomb off the bandwagon and pick a real veteran QB (like

a Kitna or a Brad Johnson) to mentor JP and move this team forward....

I wish Mike Sherman is hired as the HC.

  17. Are you talking about Jerman?  Because that guy is capital-A AWFUL.

Peters handled Julius Peppers and several other top tackles in the pass rush.  He was work to do in the run game.  He was on the practice squad last year.  The kid has progressed amazingly.  To say he hasn't shown anything is pure folly.

    561776

    No...Mike Williams...

I am not saying he has not shown improvement...But to say that he was

very successful at the RT position is foolish....especially considering the

downgrade we had in the running department.

  18. I think Norv Turner would be the best candidate.

Norv "I got fired from the Raiders' Turner?

    561764

A guy who could not run an offense with Jerry Porter/Randy Moss and

Lamant Jordan with a huge offensive line (2 1st round talent)....

No thanks....I think Norv Turners tenure in the NFL is about to end....

Russ Grimm has been a pretty good coach with the steelers....His OL

has been always big in setting up the Run....Plus he will like to play

smash mouth football rather than some stupid gadget plays that never

    seem to work...

  19. Partially true, but can we blame it all on a rookie? This would be similar to putting all the blame on JP for our lousy passing game, no?  :w00t:

    561753

I am not blaming him...I just don't understand how everyone keeps calling

Peters at RT as a very successful tenure.....Especially the guy whom he replaced

was opening up decent holes for the running game...

Peters just like Losman hasn't shown anything...I am a big Losman fan and

dearly would love to see him succeed, if the coaches will let him play....but

I am not praising or blaming Losman for his success or failures....But at the

same time I am not going round trumpeting how successful Losman was

    last season....

I would love all our young players to take charge of things and play like they

can and capable of playing.....It includes Losman, Peters, Evans, McGahee,

Preston, Everett, Anderson, Crowell, Clements, McGcee, King....These guys

represent the nucleus of the future Bills team.......

Unfortunately the way this current coaching staff has acted in the 2nd half

of the season, these guys might all get a raw deal.....I wish they had really

    fired Mularkey and hired Sherman....
