A principled stand on the issue is the best one. Freedom of speech has never meant freedom from consequences, whether you're calling some dude on the subway an N-bomb or celebrating a gruesome murder. But in this age its hard to cry for someone who lacks the judgement not to post something so over the top on their own facebook page. Now public sector "canceling" for matters of freedom of speech is an entirely different matter. I just cannot stand watching the same people who condemn so called "cancel culture" as an existential threat to western society now celebrate it as it suits them.

Charlie Kirk shot in Utah (Pronounced Dead)

I guess satanic, pedo, baby eaters and evil communists bent on the destruction of the nation can be considered forms of "misguided", in a sense. -
Happy birthday!

Have the Jets ever felt like a real rival?

During the Rex Ryan year, their Rex Ryan years to be clear, yes. They were better than us, loud, and obnoxious. Feels gross having to clarify which teams Rex Ryan era I am referring to. -

What number of twitter likes makes an opinion relevant enough to even give a second thought? How many tens of tweets do you need to see before you feel like you have the pulse on half the nation? -
From everything I read, Ogunjobi looked poor in camp and preseason. I don't expect much of anything out of him.

I'm not someone who spends all day dehumanizing those I agree with politically, but thanks for the advice. There are others here who could use your help far more than me. From what I see amplified from Charlie Kirk on twitter, I don't think he and I agree on much but I am mortified by what I saw today. Its a sad day to be an American. -

For the most part, this board is full of people who spend most of their waking hours foaming at the mouth about evil, mentally defective, liberals/conservatives who they believe should be the subject to all manner of violent punishments. The guy blaming MSNBC for all political violence in the country is telling me its not the time for any other discussion. He would hate to see a tragedy politicized, I'm sure. I think if any of these people want to claim the moral high ground today or lecture about separating human beings from their political opinions they should be reminded of their role in an ever deteriorating political discourse. Perhaps some self reflection is in order? Once we get to the bottom of whose fault this is, of course. -

I agree he is more than his job. But all opinions are not equally controversial or equally divisive. While Charlie is deserving of the same human rights as every other person on the planet, regardless of what any of us may think of his opinions, there is no obligation to separate the man from his opinions. This board hates countless fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters for their jobs, for their opinions, and for their politics. -

You should probably give this another look and make sure you still think this makes sense. -
Looks like Nepal has the right idea...

Interesting juxtaposition with the political violence thread. Carry on with the moral authority. -
Excellent suggestion. And right down the street is Gene McCarthys which has solid wings and the best fish fry I've had.

They named the bar well before the rise of Hitler and that whole thing. I mean, who could have seen that one coming? Not me. And before you ask, 911 Tavern was around well before 2001 and is a reference to the street address and not the horrible tragedy.

I hope we can all agree that the fade is the worst play in football. I don't care if you have Megatron in his prime, I still hate that play.

We left early. I would typically stay until the end of any game but when my dad asked if we were good with beating the traffic it was hard to say no. We were in the lot at noon, its 40-25, the Bills had just punted it back to the Ravens, Henry is closing in on 200 yards and the Bills have shown no indication that they can even slow the Ravens down. Didn't feel like the time to ask him to double our drive time back to the hotel for a less than 1% chance of winning. If a bunch of guys who watched from their couch say this makes me a bad fan I guess I'll have to own it. -

This comparison might be equivalent if by continuing to watch the game until its conclusion you knew you would be forced to go get in your car and drive laps around your neighborhood at 1 mph for the next 2.5 hours. -
Seems like the team put some serious restrictions on the filming crew vs. the level of access we have seen in prior seasons. They didn't film guys getting released, there wasn't a camera glued to Beane while he was actively negotiating with Cook's reps, and we didn't see the GM, coach, and owner interacting talking personnel and dropping PFF stats. It made for more boring television and I have no issues with that.
