  1. Aside from the different teams we play, sure.
  2. He's going to build a wall around EJ Manuel?
  3. Yeah, the "all Brady" mantra is nonsense. That roster is packed with talented players that fit their system. When they started getting injuries in the second half of the season, they limped to a 4-4 record -- and there wasn't a thing Brady could do about it. Back on topic, I think that's a generous ranking for Whaley.
  4. 4 picks in the top 76 this year. Should be a fun draft for Tenn fans.
  5. Some other interesting numbers: 20-14-7. That's the Sabres record over the last half of the season. That's 47 points over 41 games which projects to a 94 point season -- enough for the 8th seed in this year's playoffs. So even with injuries to O'Reilly, Kane, and Lehner, they played a pretty impressive 2nd half.
  6. No, but Auston Matthews is the consensus #1 pick and should be a star. There are two big Finnish players that most agree will go next, so getting into the top 3 this year would be an amazing break for us.
  7. The Sabres finished in the 8th slot for the 2016 draft. They have a 6.0% chance of getting the top pick, and a 19.1% chance of getting a top 3 pick. Those are the two percentages you need to know -- should make for an interesting lottery. Edit: The lottery is Saturday, April 30th.
  8. A week ago I would have agreed with you 100%, but since his agent died...
  9. I brought up the soft schedule about 6 weeks ago, so it might be a slight mirage (regarding our finish), but it's probably the best thing for a young team that needs to learn how to win and build confidence. I agree on the Det/Pit games -- close on the scoreboard but we got soundly beaten.
  10. Shouldn't change anything, there's a handful of athletes that had them. One of the more notables was Serena Williams who had a more serious clot in her lungs years ago IIRC. It does screw the Lightning heading in to the playoffs though. The tanking talk is just silly. I've love to hear how you plan to get rid of Reinhart, Eichel, O'Reilly, Ristolainen, etc. for the last month of the season.
  11. Stamkos wants to play center, which doesn't make him an ideal fit. And if you're going to spend that kind of money on a single player, it needs to be a perfect fit.
  12. For best perspective I would say first 2 rows of the 300 level (anywhere in the middle 3 sections). Obviously the middle 200 sections are great if you have cash to burn. Personally I don't like sitting in the 100s for hockey, but maybe that's just me.
  13. I think the next 2 games will be very interesting. Detroit fighting for a playoff spot and tomorrow we got Pittsburgh, who are the hottest team in the league right now, back to back road games.
  14. What am I getting for making that investment? Your analogy doesn't account for the new product that is built (the stadium). If that $20 is increasing every year with inflation like ticket prices, then you would certainly profit eventually. Would that be considered a good investment vehicle for an individual person? No way. But we're talking a stadium that could last 30-40 years.
  15. A fair question. I have no idea in Texas or Indiana.
  16. Rest assured, as long as there is a parking lot there will be tailgating. And there are enough roads to accommodate the ~80K people that work downtown every weekday, it's not the catastrophe some are making it out to be. Why do people keep saying "a billion?" Where exactly is that coming from? The Texans build Reliant Stadium for $352M in 2002 ($464M today), and that seats 72,000 with a retractable roof. A higher-end stadium like Lucas Oil cost $720M in 2008 ($792M today). Every new stadium doesn't have to be Jerry World. It's like saying we need to spend $100K on a brand new car. No, we don't need to buy a Mercedes, there are plenty of fantastic new cars that can be bought for half that price. But, I guess throwing around $500M - $700M prices sort of destroys the pipe-dream of retrofitting The Ralph (and it is a pipe-dream).
  17. In terms of volume of events, I think that's comparable to what we would see in this area. But how many of those events would be better off being hosted in the ~19,000 capacity FNC? Weddings and Proms? I feel the big draw of stadium concerts is that you are outside in the sunshine or under the stars. I've been to a concert at Lucas Oil, it's a pretty stale experience compared to outdoor venues like The Ralph or even Darien Lake. And don't get me started on the atrocity of seeing a concert in the Rogers Centre/Skydome. I think a lot of fans take the "build it and they will come" attitude with regards to a dome, but I'm not so certain that will be the case.
  18. They need wingers that can put the puck in the net.
  19. Save your dollar.
  20. Dumping him so they won't have to deal with the $80M+ contract he will command. Interesting.
  21. Merril Hoge nails his prediction (about as good a QB assessment as you will ever see). Skip Bayless provides some classic comic relief (about as bad a QB assessment as you will ever see). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZJKBoDrGlA
  22. It's a good point about Ennis. In the quarter-season he played he looked a bit lost in DD's system. I also expected Girgensons to make a jump. With Jack and ROR coming to town, I know he wasn't going to get the ice time he had last year, but I though he would make a bigger impact.
