  1. I live in Wisconsin and watch a lot of Packer games during the year, almost every one. From what I've seen I can tell you we do NOT want to be the team to pay Jones. He disappears for incredibly long stretches, the only time you notice him is when he's whiffing on a potentially game-changing catch. The fans here really dislike him and would not be at all sad to see him leave the team.
  2. I'd prefer a LB with two coverage skills...
  3. Link Sorry if this has already been posted, but i thought it was an interesting read. Buddy quoted saying that run-ins with the law don't necessarily eliminate a guy from his board, but repeat offenders and guys who get into "the wrong kind of trouble" don't interest him. Does the repeat offender quote mean we're staying away from Floyd or Jenkins?
  4. I find this immensely satisfying. Nothing irks me more than big money teams trying to buy a championship. The Vincent Jackson race just became a lot more interesting.
  5. I definitely understand the concern with Ingram's arms, but I too am completely sold on him. Not only does he have a history of good production, but by all accounts he's a very hard worker and isn't afraid of putting the team on his back. Watch a couple interviews with him, he just looks and sounds like a true football player. Players can overcome physical deficits, but you can't teach that kind of attitude and work ethic.
  6. Our run defense was dead last in the NFL last season. Dead last. Dareus was as close to a sure thing as there was in the draft, and our front seven was by far the biggest area of need. Plus, he's shown flashes of being the dominant force that he will no doubt become. This shouldn't even be a question, imo
  7. How much better is Chris Johnson in the same situation? I hear he's a pretty good back despite not having a ton of power. At this point in time, I believe Fred is the better back. With the season he was having, there's no denying that. However, I also think that CJ has the higher ceiling talent wise. The kid will only get better from here on out, and i really think he has a legitimate chance of being an elite back in this league. Fred's age also scares me. As long as he continues to produce like he has, I have total faith in the guy. If we were headed to the post season then he would be the unquestioned starter. But i cant shake the feeling that by the time this team is ready for playoff contention, Fred will have lost a step or two.
  8. I agree, Smith has played well at WR over the past two games, and i think Chan will keep him there for the remainder of the season. He's got more speed on the outside than Naaman(who shouldn't be starting anyways), and Nelson belongs in the slot. As long as Smith continues to make plays, I think he's the one who belongs opposite of Stevie. With that established, we're left with only Thigpen backing up Fitz, who has done nothing to show he's capable of running the offense effectively, let alone winning any games. Harrell had a stellar college career, and at this point nobody knows what his future in the NFL will be. Why not try bringing him in and seeing what he's got?
  9. During the game, i was equally as pissed as all of you about this playcall. But the more I got back to it, the more I think it actually wasn't a bad idea. At that point during the game, they cowboys had proven that they could move the ball downfield on us at will. It was clear that our only chance of staying in the game was to put up points and compete in a shootout style game much like the Raiders/Pats games. Going for the endzone on 4th and 2? Why the hell not? The offense was struggling for the second week in a row, and needed some kind of spark to get going. If Jones catches that pass, who knows what it could have led to?
  10. how many blitzers are going to go unblocked today?
  11. There's a difference between being in shape, and being in football shape. Being away from the game for two years will hurt Burress, he'll have to take some time to get re-acclimated to the NFL, especially with the lockout taking up time when mini camps would normally be going on
  12. how articulate of you. Regardless of how Buddy and Chan would feel about JP, I have a hard time believing that he would want to come back to an organization that has already shown that they don't believe in him. Although with the changes in front office and coaching staff who knows.
  13. See, i think this explains many of his off-field antics. Chad realizes that he's on the downside of his career, it's harder to make those great plays at 33 than it is at 26 or 27. To keep attention on himself and avoid being labeled as old and washed up, he goes off and rides a bull, or tries out for a soccer team. If nothing else, he's being smart with his career and keeping himself relevant for an extra couple years.
  14. Good interview, i've always liked Rich Eisen. It's so nice having a guy like Stevie in the team. He just genuinely loves being a Bill, and really believes in his teammates and his coach. I hope he stays around long enough to see our guys turn the corner and become competitive again.
  15. This...this is wonderful To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about Donte's diva tendencies. If he can consistently contribute on defense then I say bring him back. He's not a bad safety by any means, and this team needs talent more than anything. I'm not convinced that Searcy is gonna come in and light it up right away.
  16. Pretty much any defensive position we can pick in the first round will be an improvement over what we already have, so I'm not gonna lost any sleep over it. That said, I would enjoy the irony of having both Cameron Jordan and Jordan Cameron on our roster
  17. quit complaining, clearly you don't have anything better to do with your time anyways since you bothered to make that comment. And i think Mallet has a chance to be a very successful quarterback in the NFL if he gets passed all the alleged off-field issues. He's definitely the best pure passer in the draft, and with a good set of receivers his mobility won't be as big of an issue. Brady and Manning aren't exactly speed machines either.
  18. you know, now that i think about it, i don't i've seen any mock draft with us taking Gabbert. Any time i've seen us taking a qb, it's always Cam
  19. McNabb i'm not sure about, but both Marino and our own Jim Kelly got 15's. take it for what it's worth, i personally don't put too much stock in the wonderlic, the number of great players with relatively low scores just doesn't support it
  20. This doesn't seem like an unrealistic scenario to me. The team gets defensive help in the first round, and Ralph gets his quarterback in the second.
  21. I think bringing in Kolb would hurt the team. Whether or not Fitz is the long term answer, the team responds to him and plays hard for him. I think the attitude in the locker room is crucial for a team's success.
  22. with a pick as high as ours, i don't want to get a rare enough talent. I want a full out badass Bruce Smith-esque player. Someone who can change the game every time they step on the field.
  23. It's true that you never know, but to be fair, how many 6th or 7th round QB's ever become franchise material? If Levi Brown is leading our team on a playoff run a couple years from now, I'll gladly write you a long letter of apology
  24. this. id rather just wait the extra month for hockey to start
  25. He is set to become a free agent in 2012 i believe, and after seeing the team rally around him this year, i have a very hard time believing that they won't bring him back. Levi Brown will be a career backup at best
