  1. Pete Carroll is defensive minded though, its different. Their defensive continuity stayed with their head coach.
  2. Yeah, that makes sense. But, do you have confidence Henderson (who spent time as a positional coach, not necessarily completely in tuned with why some defenses were called at specific times during the game) can just go ahead and run the defense? Wouldn't you feel more confident if he were within this scheme for closer to five years at least? Seems like more of a risk than hiring another guy to me.
  3. How exactly is Donnie Henderson's scheme the same scheme? He's been in this system for one year, just like the players. Are you trying to say that if Henderson (mind you, he's not a Pettine/Rex Ryan guy at all) were DC we would be exactly as aggressive?
  4. Exactly! I'm not trying to pessimistic here. I'm sure Donnie is a great guy, but he blatantly would not be the most qualified man for the job. What makes me sick, is thinking of the post promotion press conference, where not a single local journalist has the audacity to ask about Wade or any one with a successful track record as a DC. It will be all joy all the time. They might even ask for an injury update.
  5. Going from Mike Pettine to Donnie Henderson will be exactly the underwhelming move that takes the wind from my sails as a fan this off season. If anything, it's such a classic, "safe" move that this franchise has gone with time and again. If they go that route, I'll bet anything they don't interview outside candidates for the position. You have a great opportunity to exhaust through all available ex DC's and ex HC's with the relevant experience, but instead you promote your secondary coach because he's your friend who has "done it before" (to little to no success, mind you).
  6. Tell us how you really feel.
  7. Ever heard of the suburbs? What, you think all the players, coaches and staff live right in the heart of "8 mile" or something? He'd have a nice fancy house just like the rest of the NFL coaches. It's been confirmed he took the Nashville job because the Titans offered him a job, the Lions were on the fence with him and Caldwell. Take your conspiracy theories to an ancient aliens message board.
  8. Sure. That's how to win. Leave points on the board.
  9. Not taking the free field goal there could cost Seattle. I believe it was Marv's insistence to, "just take the points" that helped the Bills win close games.
  10. In the world of over officiating...not being able to review that is why this league annoys me beyond belief. What's the point of reviewing if that doesn't get to be San Fran ball?
  11. Kinda. They just fired their rookie HC man. How much are trying to comb over the definition of inept? I'm not saying the Bills are any more or less inept or anything. I don't have the patience to figure out that photo finish.
  12. Van Pelt and Hackett were part of the worst Bills offense in recent memory. Let's get 'em back together. Hell, if Pettine leaves, whats Jauron up to? We could try and go back to the "lure fans asleep" tactic.
  13. Imagine for a second that you're a Browns fan. Pissed as you may be at the ineptitude of your organization, you're still excited that you get a new head coach. Its like a draft before the draft. "Who are we gonna take?" It's at least a little fun. And then WHAM! You're struck back to reality as they hire a coordinator from the BILLS, of all teams. "Didn't WE beat these guys?!" Confusion leads to anger. You start looking up basic information because you're a fan but not intense enough to know who the hell Mike Pettine is. Scrolling through the Bills schedule, a few 30+ point defensive performances. Sound losses to the Buccaneers and Falcons offenses. My guess is your first impression of the hire... not that good.
  14. Well...I guess we all got this one wrong. He still has to make the team, but still.
  15. Yeah, but what if you changed the play completely. Let's say you line up in a traditional spread formation with 4 WRs and a HB in the backfield. Assuming it's the last play of the game, they may only rush 3. Now with your 7 "smurfs", you can just toss it to your HB, who can immediately send it to one of the "smurfs", provided they are running backwards initially and to designated spots. It's unlikely that their rush of 3 will have any effect, if the ball changes hands immediately with a designated play of this sort.
  16. Right, but sometimes you have the ball on your 20.
  17. Will he be on the team next year? I think most would say no, but I'm curious if there are any who might argue that he should. I felt he played pretty poorly yesterday (the fans did as well - he was heckled a bit after his first punt and another that sailed out of bounds at the 25 when he should have been trying to pin them back). I always liked him, I just think that he has been lucky to even been given this second opportunity. For reference, he is dead last among punters in average punt, and third last in net average.
  18. Right. In the middle of a close game, you'll rarely if ever see it because of the field advantage it gives opponents. At the end of the game you'll rarely ever see it because you play to set up a closer opportunity to play the odds. At the end of the half, however, we have already seen it. I believe it was Janikowski (who undoubtedly has a bigger leg than Tuck) who attempted a 73. If I had a kicker who made a few 70s in practice, I would absolutely send him out there with no pressure at the end of a half.
  19. Or, we can beat the Dolphins to help keep them out, which is a much more realistic scenario.
  20. Makes you wonder about Kyle Williams. Seems to me that he is battling in a similar way, and all the more impressive - is producing. When these guys are day-to-day I really never think about the fact that they're truly going through decisions like which medicine to shoot in their body so the pain is less noticeable on the field. Either that or this Jackson character truly is injury prone.
  21. This.
  22. Ah yes, the guess the baby game. Facebook's alternative to apples to apples.
  23. Saw that and also laughed. I'm hoping the Bills social media intern that posted that is also in charge of checking all responses and reporting back.
  24. Assistant strength and conditioning coach. Can't stand that guy!
