Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
Bangarang replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not going to crap all over Allen as if everything was on him. It wouldn’t be fair. I went back and watched every game from last year and it was painful to see how many drives were stalled or points were missed because of a breakdown on the o-line, a drop by a receiver or an off target throw from Allen. He desperately needs to fix the deep ball, be more efficient, and stop being a fumbling machine. -
Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3

It’s a big year for Allen and this offense. I definitely would not call him a franchise QB right now. My standards aren’t that low. The excuses have all but dried up. I’m looking forward to see if he can continue improving. -
It’s certainly a weight off my shoulders

First NFL "over/under wins" betting lines

Take the Bucs, bet the over, make money. -
Hap’s chart strictly shows passer rating to different parts of the field. The links I gave go into the numbers a bit more.

Interesting. I went by the below links. 2018: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/2018-19-deep-ball-project 2019: https://www.google.com/amp/s/brickwallblitz.com/2020/02/21/the-2019-20-deep-ball-project-part-1-3/amp/

Ahh, the true sign of someone who knows what they’re talking about. A lot of opinion, no sources for anything but if you think I’m wrong then you prove it! Allens weapons during his rookie year were indeed terrible. His receivers were upgraded for last season and yet his deep ball was worse than his rookie year. It’s not as if the receivers constantly couldn’t make plays on balls dropped in a bucket in front of them, majority of the time they were overthrown by several yards and didn’t even have a chance. Who here is moving the goal posts? This is a thread about his deep ball and that’s been the basis of my point. It’s certainly not the only concern and I’m sure Diggs will help Allen and the offense.

Cool, we agree. Fatal flaw meaning if he doesn’t fix it he will be out of the league? 100% false. Now you’re just being ridiculous and nonsense like this makes it impossible to have a rational discussion. This must mean that Allen was near the top of the league in throwing the most uncatchable passes. This doesn’t help any argument you’re trying to make. PFF lol Itd be easier to say you’re talking out of your rear end because essentially that’s what you’re doing

Do you have a source for this? It’s certainly not true for Allen. Can you at least agree that Allen is a poor deep ball thrower? Can you identify that there is in fact a problem? Allen’s weapons have been questionable at best I will agree but anyone who’s watching objectively can see his deep ball was horrific last year. Guys were open and he consistently overthrew them. Again, where is your source that shows 5 or 6 plays is the difference from being the best and being the worst? No one got open? Really? Are you really going to say that after watching Allen his first 2 years he didn’t miss any deep balls to open receivers.
-
You said his deep ball is improving. It’s not and it’s actually gotten worse. Facts don’t care about your feelings. Do you understand that this thread is about Allen’s deep ball? The question isn’t whether the opportunities to throw deep will be there, it’s whether Allen can take advantage of them and actually complete those passes. So far he’s proven to be a poor deep ball thrower and it’s clearly a problem.

How can he be improving if statistically he’s gotten worse?

Stefon Diggs Game On NFL Network Sunday Afternoon At 2pm

Are the rest of the Vikings playing too? -
It’s not a misconception, it’s a fact. He was horrible throwing the ball deep last year. If you also look at his rookie year he was in the bottom 3rd of the league in completing passes deep. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/2018-19-deep-ball-project

Next years starters - only getting better

We don’t need the deep ball? I can’t take what you say serious after a comment like that. We need to score more points and last year Allen missed out on a lot of points because his deep ball was pathetically bad. -
Let’s trade all of our draft picks this year.

Yeah, It’s not always a linear progression when it comes to young QB play. We’ve seen countless times where teams think they’ve found their guy and it turns out they haven’t. Allen has the weapons. He has the coaching. It’s on him to prove he’s the guy. If he doesn’t take a big step forward this year then I doubt it ever happens. -

We go as far as Allen and the offense take us. If he fixes the deep ball then we can be a force. -
The entire country is in lockdown. Have you taken a look at what’s going on in Italy? Not sure how anyone can confidently say there is an end on site at this point.

I’m still convinced that Ford at RT is going to be a problem. McD had Nsekhe split reps with Ford for a reason and let’s not forget that for a long time last year it seemed like we could only get TD drives going with Ford on the bench.
-
We most certainly do not have one of the best backup QBs in the league. Barkley sucks. He’s probably a great locker room guy but that’s probably it.
-
Can we stop with this “process” nonsense? We literally just traded for Diggs who was disgruntled and quit on his team. We were linked to AB last year. Talking about process and character is fine when you’re just hired and trying to turn a roster over but clearly McD and BB are willing to take on guys who have some warts.
