  1. Exactly. I felt like they only run the same few plays. Always throwing to the TE across the middle.
  2. You used your 3 TDs as a counterpoint to why he's still a great QB. I'm saying he's a great read-option QB who can make good throws sometimes. Not going to be much better than he already is. And those 3 TDs were not something exemplary. You assume people are "jealous" and "lying" to you in this thread. I think people are pretty balanced today considering a loss. Why is a Ravens QB the hill that a Bills fan is willing to die on?
  3. He's right. A playground shovel pass and a blown coverage resulted in touchdowns. You can disagree, but don't say it doesn't make sense. Well there's your moral victory.
  4. I think he was #3 or #4 on the list of reasons they won. And again, my OP was in the context of all the hype. As for moral victories, there's a time and place for them IMO. I think this game is the place. Sometimes they're lame, I agree. But when you lost to Goliath by 7 points with a chance tie it up, and you're overachieving, then I think it's fine. Against the Steelers, I would agree with you.
  5. I wonder what the coaching staff is seeing, or not seeing, in practice to keep Duke inactive. Does anybody here have any suspicions about what it is?
  6. People keep saying that to me and it's false. It's the 4th game I've seen, and I don't normally watch 4 games of the Ravens in a typical regular season. I stick by it, he's a great read-option QB. He will flame out as teams learn to counteract their deception behind the line.
  7. I don't think he lived up to the hype at all. 3 TDs is nice, but I didn't see the unstoppable force everybody was claiming he was the past 10 days on this board.
  8. I think he's one of the elite returners in the NFL. He's been a bit unlucky on returns, but that's the NFL in 2019 for you. Do we really want Hyde out there risking injury? Or some special teamer who might muff the kick? Roberts will get us those 7 extra yards on a punt every time. I like having stability back there. I wouldn't mind seeing Duke given a shot, but not at the expense of Roberts.
  9. We made him look pretty ordinary. Someone in the 2nd half thread said he is a great read-option QB, nothing more, and I agree. He looked lost when Andrews went out of the game, and kept throwing to the backup TE who fortunately for them is a good football player. Hopefully, the book on him is now out. Don't fall for the ball trickery, set the edge, don't overpursue, and eliminate the TE's. Force him to throw long into tight coverage.
  10. It sometimes evens out, not always. But it's nice that it happened in our favor for a change. Now we know what it feels like to be Pats fans These types of scenarios, where the refs give a team an opportunity to tie or win a game, happen more often in prime time games or big match ups IMO. Brady is a pro at taking advantage of these ref-gifted opportunities. We had a 1st and 10 from the 17. It's unfortunate we couldn't convert. The NFL wouldn't have minded us winning and taking that street cred with us to a SNF game with the Steelers for more eyeballs.
  11. The missed deep ball early in the game was a miscommunication. Brown started to run a post and Allen threw a fly. It was probably on Allen.
  12. I think we proved today that we're in the 2nd tier of teams in the NFL. I mean, if we beat our easy schedule, that proves that we're consistently better than those teams, right? And if we beat the "middling" Cowboys, that means we're better than middling, right? And if we lost to the Ravens by one score today due to a poor offensive performance, that means we're a lot closer to the best teams than the worst teams. And if the guy running that offense is 23 years old, then there is room to improve and eventually become a 1st tier team, right? I don't know, maybe I'm just Einstein or Tesla. Frankly, most QBs don't show up on the scene ready to destroy elite teams with elite defenses. You need to take some lumps and bruises and learn from your mistake and slowly get better. That's what Josh is doing, while dealing with added adversity from his supporting cast. And that's truly the difference between fan favorites like Mahomes and Jackson. They don't have to deal with the drops and poor pockets. One of the reasons I defend Josh so much is that I know what it feels like to know you're great at something, but people don't respect the adversity you have to deal with. All the while you see people doing better than you while giving less effort due to outside circumstances, and getting all the praise. What's worse is when the doubt comes from those closest to you. With me it was friends and family, for Josh it's much of the fanbase. It's tough, but that's what makes you stronger than the others. Frankly, Jackson didn't impress me today. I think Tyrod had more to his game.
  13. There's a reason he was afraid to look past his 1st read. I don't think it's wise to put everything on Allen's back. He didn't play great at all, but drops and terrible blocking didn't help.
  14. This wasn't a total team loss by any stretch. But the offense was classically out of sync. Each of the following happened at different times: Can't handle the blitz + wrong play calling + Josh inaccurate on deep balls + bad drops by receivers + missed block assignments + refs favoring the ravens All combine for a loss against a tough team like this. I'm not convinced the Ravens are better and will 100% beat us in the playoffs. But Josh has to be better, and the offense needs to all click at the same time.
  15. Unfortunately, in a difficult game like this, refs working in the Ravens favor is enough to break our will.
  16. I think the media is being exposed this game with the love of Lamar Jackson. He's like #6 in terms of "story of the game". It's clear the NFL has sent a memo that they want Lamar promoted as the next great thing, whether he is or not.
  17. You know, the fault with the idea of "good teams overcome the refs", is that even the greatest dynasties of all time play close games decided on 1 or 2 calls. You can never become a championship team unless the refs are either absolutely fair or are on your side. If the refs are 51% on the other side, then those are the same odds as Vegas, where the house always wins.
  18. We can win this. We just need to start clicking.
  19. One thing starts working again and something else stops working.
  20. Concerned about the offense. Don't like Allen's confidence on the sidelines.
  21. Off topic, but we're currently in the absolute dark ages of color commentary.
