Now that wouldn't be a "mild" wing. It does bring up another fundamental problem with a lot of wing joints and that is their inability to scale the hotness levels appropriately.

This is spot on about the oil. Also, it is really easy to tell when a restaurant pre-cooks their wings and then flash fry's them. That is one of the biggest sins of all. They end up shriveled and dry like an old ladies $%#@

The problem is you ordered mild wings. I have never had a good "mild wing" ANYWHERE and all sorts of compromises have to be made to make a wing sauce without any/very little heat. It's impossible to get a proper balance in terms of texture and flavor. Some places the sauce is too thin and doesn't stick to the wings, others the wing sauce is too greasy/buttery and you get this hot mess of split wing sauce and finally to counter the other two problems places load up on BBQ sauce in the mixture to cut down on the heat and increase the viscosity of the sauce...another no no.

Chandler Jones is very, very good at dropping into coverage and with his contain assignments. Their defense asks him to do a lot. Mario is simply a one dimensional, rush the passer. Not a great fit if you ask me.

I agree that in isolation that will not be the death of Whaley but it is the theme in which he has been operating since the death of Ralph Wilson which has been to mortgage the future for in his words "to make the playoffs" which ultimately will be his demise IMO.
