  1. To go along with this, there have been teams that completely ignored a prospect (no talks at the combine, no pro day visit, etc.) before the draft. They then used that as a smoke screen in order to draft that prospect.
  2. I've got not arguments with this, but the problem comes in when they love a guy like Floyd at #10, but also really like most or all of the hypothetical four guys that are supposed to be there in round 2. Take Floyd? Hope those four are still around come round 2? Take Floyd then another WR in round 2? Take Floyd and ignore those WRs in round 2 and shore up another position, even though you really think one of those WRs can help your team? What if the draft falls such that they take Floyd in round 1, then a WR has a MUCH higher rating on their draft board then anyone else. Your right that a GM has to think differently then a fan, but these are the kind of tough decisions they have to make
  3. The reason I've had trouble fully getting behind the idea to take Floyd at 10, despite the fact that he's supposed to be as good as Blackmon on tape, is the depth at the WR class this year. What happens if WRs are the BPAs in the second or third round? Do you stock up on WRs? Reach for a player with lower value? ::shrug::
  4. See, I've been thinking the same thing about taking Floyd, especially when I heard that he and Blackmon were about equal on tape. But then you have to turn around and realise that there's going to be plenty of talent at WR in the second and third rounds as well. If it happens that we take Floyd, but then have WRs as the BPAs in rounds 2 or 3, do you stock up on WR? Go for a lesser valued player? ::shrug:: This is why I'm unsure about drafting Floyd in the first. I keep going back and forth between loving the idea and hating it.
  5. I hate all the posts about how we need to draft Reiff. Why would you reach for a fairly solid guard? At least pick the best guard in the draft if you're going interior lineman! Reiff is far too compact and has too short of arms to be a good OT in this league. For all the people saying that we shouldn't draft Keuchly, because we need an OLB instead of a MLB, Keuchly projects to any of the three LB spots in a 4-3. If we drafted him, he'd come in and start immediately at OLB. Gilmore, although good, is by no means BPA and therefore won't be the pick. Unless one of the elite players drop to us, if the Bills go BPA, it will be Keuchly, Decastro, or Floyd. If they go for need, it will be Floyd, Martin or (god forbid) Reiff, or possibly Keuchly.
  6. Lately, it seems that Poe has been losing steam, that despite being a freakish athlete, he has very pedestrian on tape in a small conference (5 sacks total, only one this past year). Mayock even has him as the 4th highest DT. Hill, on the other hand, has been gaining steam, with some people saying that even though he's raw, he can still win 1-on-1 match-ups in the red zone and catch the deep ball immediately, leading to a good number of TDs for a rookie. Now, I'm not saying that both of them, or even one of them will still be on the board when we're on the clock in the second round, but my question for all of you is this: if both of them are still on the board in round 2, which do you take and why? Do you even take either? Do you pass on both? Let me know what you think.
  7. I absolutely HATE all the hype around Reiff. If you really want an OG, why not go with the best guard in the draft Decastro?
  8. Are you three even reading the same post I'm reading? There is NOTHING in the original post about drafting a RB. Mind actually reading before responding?
  9. There is no way Blackmon slides all the way to us. We would have to trade up to get him. There is an incredibly small chance the Rams pass on him. Even if they do, who do the Jags have at WR that they would pass on him too? Who do the Dolphins have that they would pass on him? The Panthers? Other then an aging Steve Smith, they have no one. To get Blackmon, you have to trade up to either 5 or 6, and with how much our FO likes trading picks, I'm guessing that's not happening.
  10. First of all, I agree, he is a beast. The only thing is, you try to prove it by how hard he celebrates!? I'm not sure I follow the logic...
  11. Now that we've signed Mario Williams, we have an epic front four with Williams, Williams, Dareus, and...who? Kelsay? Merriman? Can we trust them on the other side of the line? What if we went out and capitalized on our new found attraction after the Super Mario signing and pick up John Abraham on the other side of the line? This would most definitely be the best d-line in the NFL. Abraham would just be a stop gap, since he's aging, but he still plays at an incredibly high level. Should we get him?

  13. C'mon, get the presser going! I have BB.com on my computer, ESPN on the TV, and not hearing anything from either of them. I'll I get is Dwight Howard saying he'll be back, looking like someone just punted his dog off a bridge.
  14. I keep expecting to read "He's signed!!! Link here!" and the link goes to the Peter Pan website
  15. I've heard a rumor that a press conference is expected at 1. Could it be? Could the rumor be right?
  16. I think you're looking at this the wrong way. If no one trades spots with the Rams, the Rams WILL select RG3, then try to trade his rights to another team for a boat load of picks. There's NO scenario in which RG3 gets past the first 2 picks.
  17. See, I'm not worried as much about whether he was the QB he showed us during the 5-2 start. He obviously was. What I'm worried about is what he's going to do in the future. Before the Washington game, he was throwing it fearlessly, unafraid of the guys bearing down on him. After that game, he was throwing it away, then ducking and covering to protect his cracked ribs from the defender bearing down on him, hoping he hadn't thrown an interception. If he becomes the next Trent Edwards, who actually did't play too poorly before his concussion in AZ, but then sucked afterwards, then we are in trouble. So I'm waiting to see which QB comes out of the gate next season: the fearless gunslinger or the scared noodle-arm.
  18. This kid, to me, is one of the most intriguing players in the draft. He's got the size, he's faster than Calvin Johnson, and will routinely blow off the top of the coverage. I'm not saying he's going to be the best player ever, especially not right out of the draft. He's very raw and comes from a system that never throws the ball. However, he has really high potential. He could be trained up to be a really good WR. Whether he does or not is probably up to him, it's on his determination and drive to be the best, because he does have all the tangibles. But even if he's never thrown the ball, or only has 30 catches a season for us, that still opens up a lot of space in the middle of the field for everyone else. I think he'd be worth taking a risk on, simply because he would make the other receivers, tight ends, and even the running backs better by giving them more space. And just think, even Fitz couldn't overthrow this guy like he did so often last season.
  19. I agree completely with this. I don't understand why everyone has been so down on Kyle Williams the past few months. Everyone keeps saying he took the money and ran, and now he won't do anything now that he got paid. That's just stupid. He had a bone spur that was making it difficult to walk, let alone play, yet he was out there doing the best he could through the pain for almost half a year before the coaches put him on IR. That tells me he's INCREDIBLY motivated, not that he's not motivated at all. I guarantee, he will be back to his normal form next year and everyone that's suddenly been so down on him this year will be acting like they never thought he was anything less than great.
  20. You make it sound like rookie CBs never get burned. I guarantee you that there has never been a rookie CB that hasn't looked absolutely silly at times. It comes with more playing time in the NFL.
  21. I'm really not sure why so many people keep harping about getting a "stud" WR. There are so many good WRs after the first round, it's a waste to draft one then. Yes, you can get elite WRs like Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, etc. in the first round, but how much worse off are you with Greg Jennings (2nd), Hines Ward (3rd), (CAR) Steve Smith (3rd), Brandon Marshall (4th), Donald Driver (7th), Marques Colston (7th), etc.? I say go big men early and often on both lines. Can you imagine a D-line consisting of Marcell Darius, (a healthy) Kyle Williams, and then another 1st rounder? It would hardly matter who your LBs were because the OL would be so occupied with the three down linemen that not one of them would be able to get past the first level into the LBs. As mentioned before, it's really tough to guess who a good pass rusher would be, especially out of the 3-4. Draft them often (and not necessarily in the 1st round), and one of them will surely come out of it. Once you have that dominant front 7, the secondary will hardly matter. However, first we need someone who can actually develop players. We've been drafting defensive players like crazy the past few years, but none of them seem to develop too much. We REALLY need a good defensive coach who can provide that.
  22. I don't know about that. I haven't watched much of Jeffrey, but was interested by what you all have been saying about him, so I just looked at some of his highlights and was less than thrilled with him. He could be a playmaker, but he seemed to catch the ball in his body too much, instead of with his hands, doesn't secure the ball once he catches it, and didn't seem to play incredibly fast. When he did have to extend to catch the ball, it looked like (from the highlights) he had good hands, but when he comes to the NFL, I think he's going to have some bad habits to break.
  23. It really looks to me that the Saints put the Madden difficulty setting to "Rookie" last night...
