If Rudolph is their guy, they should still be trying to get to 2. You don’t trade up to 12 and hope that a franchise QB is sitting there and only you know about it. You go get him. Can’t play the “I’m smartet than every other GM” game. You’ll get burned.

The Jets Just Made a Mistake
Wayne Cubed replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We don't either. I never said we did. But you said they are 100% in a better position to get their guy. What if their guy is Rosen and the Giants select him at 2? Are they still 100% better to get their guy? You make a trade to "go get your guy" when you know he's going to be there when you select. -
What are you even on about? I never said that, I know no team has told me. You said: That would mean, Beane thinks he knows how the other 11 pick in front of him are going to play out. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else. That is dumb. Would you like me to explain why? The Miami Dolphins take "the guy" Beane traded up to 12 for. What now? If Brandon Beane has a guy he wants, he needs to get to a position where 11 other teams aren't picking in front of him.

Get their guy? They have no idea if they can get their guy. They will either get the 2nd or 3rd QB in the draft, that may or may not be "their guy." -

True. But it's entirely possible they will be selecting their 3rd ranked QB on their board. We will never be privy to that because of course they'll say it's who they were targeting all along. Would you trade up to a spot, unsure of which QB you might be getting? -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
Wayne Cubed replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry I meant the Giants, I'm not convinced they are going to draft a QB. As for as the Bills, I've said already that the goal should be #2. -

Yup, I've said #2 should be the goal all along. It's the only way the Bills will know exactly who they are getting. Go to #3 and they may end up getting jumped by another QB team. -

Yea, I think they are still in win now mode. They may select a QB but I don't think it'll be at #2. -

The bold is the only thing to take away. Your speculation that Beane wouldn't match, is just that... speculation. What if Beane never wanted to get to 3? What if his ultimate goal is 2? Why would you move to 3 before the draft anyways? This could end up making the Jets look pretty stupid. They showed their hand. They have just said they are ok grabbing the 3rd best QB in the draft. Even if the Giants don't swap with the Bills or any other team, what if the Giants select a QB? For me, I've always said the goal should be the 2nd pick. The only way I'd be comfortable with the 3rd pick is on draft day after the Giants have selected and the Bills know they can get their guy. -

It is a mistake for the Jets. Even if the Giants stay put, what if they draft a QB? That men’s the Jets traded up for the 3rd best QB in the draft. They were forced to make this move. You make this move on draft day, when you know the guy you want is there. This is a trade up and you can’t even target anyone. Of course they’ll say player X was their choice all along. -
Just stop!

Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round

This is all about the Colts not wanting to drop out of the top 10. They might still be able to get Chubb at 6. It will be telling to see what the Giants think. -

You don’t pay for the 3rd pick now, not knowing if you are going to get your guy. Let’s say Beane does move to 3, then the Jets trade to 2. How dumb does Beane look then? You do this trade on draft day, when you know for certain the guy you want is there at 3. The Jets have opened themselves to being jumped at 2. -

This is an odd trade to make before the draft has actually started. This is only works for the Jets if they really really like 3 QBs, otherwise they are settling for the 3rd QB off the board. I just can’t see them ranking 3 QBs equally. -
Bills GM: Not certain we move up to take QB
Wayne Cubed replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And he could come to this conclusion about the QB he wants and realize he's not falling out of the top 5. He's admitted he's not done evaluating the QBs, so it's all just kind of a throw away comment. -

I'm going to keep banging the table for Kendricks, I think the Eagles want to or are willing to move him.

Now go trade for Mychal Kendricks...

Bills still have 7 major holes.
Wayne Cubed replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right but rounds 4, 5 and 6 players are likely to not be Top 51, if they make the team at all. Sportrac has it projected with Top 51 & rookie pool at about $6M. -

Wayne Cubed replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea I don't think it'll be $5M either, but they have some of the details. I could be wrong but I thought Michael Ginnitti said on Murph yesterday that he thought when it's all said and done he believe's the Bills will have around $22M left. -

I can't imagine his cap hit is more than $5M, considering what he's signed for. Also, not sure if that is updated with Cogs new number. Still leaves more than $17M in cap space. -

Uh what? With all the new FA contracts on the books, including Lotulelei, the Bills have $26M left. Subtract around $5m for rookie contracts and the Bills have $21M left. That's a fair chunk of money. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/
