  1. I agree that we have a lot of unproven young guys on our roster and we have several areas of need that you have pointed out. No one really knows how we will progress or regress. This year will give us a lot more information. Personally, I don't see the Bills current and potential state of affairs as positively as you do. I certainly cannot agree with "there's no reason to think we can't be a playoff team again in 2011 and good thereafter for years." I really need to see more in order to for me to make such a statement.
  2. That's more like it Eball. A solid post and response without the insulting attacks. I look forward to reading more of your post like this. This board can do without all the nonsense personal attacks.
  3. Doc, if I recall correctly aren't you one of the guys here that told us that RT Green is a more than an adequate right tackle. Now, you willing to replace him with Bell?
  4. Wow, that came out of nowhere. What in the heck are you talking about? I really wasn't trying to be rude to the guy... The poster HooperBills responded back to me in a nice professional manner. I think you just don't like me which is fine. However, the attack on me was unjustified. An apology will be accepted.
  5. As much as some of us don't like it maybe TE is the best QB we have.
  6. Whether your wrong or right you don't have to be such a "rude prude."
  7. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or insight on Thursdays game. Will Gailey place more emphasis on playing well and trying to be competetive. Or is he going to strictly focus on evaluating players regardless of the outcome? Will, he have more of a game plan offensively? defensively? Is he going to play Maybin the whole game? How will the QB's be rotated in? How long are the starters going to play? I sure hope we look better than we did against Washington. Any information and opinions are appreciated.
  8. Sorry bad joke. I have seen Ponder and he has potential. I will keep my eye on him. Honestly, I am not familiar with Enderle. I will look him up. For now, I have both my eyes on Brohm. I hope he gets plenty of playing time on Thursday. Lets hope he performs well.
  9. I think the premise of your statement is incorrect. I don't think anyone has said that. I think those who think "the Bills are done" thought that before the Washington game. It only confirmed that their thinking might be correct. I think those who didn't" think the Bills were done" before the Wasshing game, still think the Bills are not done. I don't think anyone is saying the Bills are done because of the Washington game.
  10. You are entitled to your opinion and I beg to differ. It feels like you are scolding me and telling me how to think. IMHO you come off as a know it all. Your comparison is not a good run for several reasons. The super bowl Bills knew how to win, had established and experienced players on the team, had the same defensive and offensive systems in place. Pre season was used in a fashion to tune up, stay healthy, get in shape, and evaluate the young talent on the team. This years team is much much much different then those teams. I won't go into detail because it's obvious. You are comparing apples with oranges. IMHO, this preseason is important, not so much about winning but playing together as a unit, seeing how new guys respond to game time situations, evaluating young and old talent, setting a tone for the young guys, learning new schemes, etc...Yes its preseason but don't underestimate its importance to a young team in a rebuilding process with new coaches as . Don't tell me its only preseason! If you want to think that, that is fine. If you want to dismiss that horrendous preformance in Washington as nothing go ahead. You speak as though there is an absolute that the Bills are going to get better and we will see it. You can have that opinion and I hope you are correct. The fact is you have no proof whatsoever to back up a statement like that. Your stating an opinion as if it is a fact. Time will tell if you opinion becomes fact...
  11. Really, I guess you wouldn't want to get Peyton Manning if he couldn't come to a salary agreement with the Colts? Wonder how that Brett Farve pick up worked out for the Vikings? Jared Allen too? I would say picking up the right fit for your team free agent is a solid way to successfully improve your teams chances. It is done every year and it will continually be done. This years examples are Brando Marshall, Antwan Bolden, LT, Jamal Brown, Donavan Mcnabb, Antonio Bryant, Julius Peppers, Karlos Dansby, ...
  12. I would say it is somewhat obvious that a today team cannot buy there way into a championship. It has to be done with to name a few: Solid drafting Solid free agency picks including vets with experience who know how to win An organization that is cohesive, organized, and implements solid strategies to winning. Solid coaching Key players at critical positions such as QB, LT, NT, LB, etc... It is a combination of many variables. I do not believe one can say it is all about the draft or all about another key component. The success of a team lies with all of the above.
  13. As a fan, I can say I want to be competitive and win as soon as possible. I fully understand a key component to building a successful franchise is through the draft. I believe any reasonable fan would agree with that. However, that is not to neglect the importance of picking up a few experienced and talented free agents that solidify your team. I am not OK with as you put it "he screwed up the team for this year." I agree with that statement (many here will not) but I don't agree with the strategy. This organization has failed miserable with the lack of quality free agent acquisitions and via the draft. You talk about a three year plan. Where did the 3 "year plan" come from? Who "coined" the phrase? I never could understand this notion? I think it must have been used by coaches so they could extend their contracts. IMHO, no such plan exist. Nothing prohibits a team from turning it around quicker. (ie) the Miami Dolphins. Vice versa too. The Bills seem to fit the latter. Some teams may need longer than three years. I just don't like the usage. Why not 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 years... Three years from now, I wonder what we all will be saying? Some of us have been saying this for 10 plus years. Myself included. I cannot accept the notion that losing football games will ultimately make us a more successful franchise...This kind of strategy hasn't worked too well for the Lions, Tampa Bay, KC, Rams, Raiders, Browns, and least but not least the BILLS. To suggest we as fans sit on our hands for the next three years and have a wait and see attitude is beyond me. As a fan, I have every right to piss and moan about my team especially when they have made so many blunders. Our voices should be heard if not by OBD at least by fellow fans. I hear you BillsVA...
  14. Bill, thanks for the reply. With all due respect, I don't think you answered the question. You answered my question with a question. Getting Lockler or Mallet really is all speculation. Nobody knows what is going to happen. For example, injuries, Bills draft position, Bills draft mentality, they play poorly, Etc... It is not a question any of us can answer with certainty. Too many variables. No varibles in that we could have aquired Clausen or Campbell. Lastly, flawed logic implying that Clausen will not be successful or isn't that good because everyone passed on him. Using that same logic, then you would say a QB picked ealry in the first round is going to be a successful QB?
  15. IMHO, the OL isn't fine and it is an area of major concern. IMHO, I really didn't see anything that was fine regarding the Bills performance including the OL. I really agree with your statement about Trent. He doesn't have the 'It" factor... In general, it sounds like you are down playing the importance of an offensive line. Maybe, I am wrong there. If that is the case, I cannot agree with you. A solid offensive line is one key ingredient that leads to playoff appearances and super bowls. If your saying, a soild QB can make an offensive and offensive line look better, I agree with that. I would use Ben Rosthesburger as a good example. The last year or two their line hasn't been great. He is very good at creating his own plays and being elusive. Trent only wishes he could create something positive on his own.. Wish the Bills would have drafted him. I remember that draft and hoping he was going to slip on down to us? Boy, was that disappointing.
  16. I just wonder how many of us are wishing the Bills made a move to acquire another QB? I for one am in that boat. My stance has been since day one, I would have drafted Clausen or picked up Campbell. Wondering if anyone has changed their mind on this topic? I suspect those who didn't want either are still thinking that way? Are you thinking any other QB's? Are you thinking one of our QB's is going to be adequate?
  17. What a surprise. Another insulting comment from eball. You have some nerve saying I add no value to this board. Have you checked the mirror lately?
  18. Don't lecture us like two year olds. I remember him saying that and I concur. You have to agree with that statement. Here is where I take issue with the coach. He prompltly says that and basically does little to upgrade the offensive line. Hummmmm, he reconizes a major need of the team but does nothing but draft Wang in the 5th round and pick up a medicore RT too. I do believe actions speak louder than words. In this case, it is clearly evident. I don't understand what the new regime was thinking...So you can listening to the coach all you want...
  19. I concurr. Toatally uncalled for and very ignorant.
  20. Granted post Jim Kelly QB's for the Bills have not had much success. The QB in question has to take blame but their chances of success have been hindered by poor offensive line play. IMO, much the same can be said about this year too.
  21. It is only preseason....Oh how we look at stats when they fit into our thinking...(including myself)
  22. I would suggest reading the posts again instead of overacting, making incorrect statements, and using insulting language. You might get a little more respect around here.
  23. I must say i thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and I look forward to reading more of your postings. I just wish everyone would be as civil as you were.
