  1. Very good rebutal and I will try to clarify my viewpoints. You are right that I don't know what Gailey's plans and intentions are. I was trying to refute the previous post saying preseason isn't about game planning. IMHO, a coach preseason or not always should have some kind of game plan. Isn't Galiey calling the plays? I am assuming he has specific plays to evaluate his players. Also, I was trying to say preseason for a young inexperienced team like the Bills is very important. Much more important than a team like the colts or saints. They are experienced teams who have confidence and know how to win. I would say with certainty that the Bills are nowhere close to that. As a result, IMHO, Gailey can use these preseason games to boost the confidence of his young team. Have success and establish a confident winning attitude. Isn't that what posters here have been glowing about coach Gailey in camp? Why is it important in camp but not in the preseason? I go back to the previous preseason games with the Bills. Remember how the offense couldn't even score a touchdown? That inept offense in preseason lead us right into offensive problems in the regular season. I know there are other varibles that accounted for this. But, I think the point is valid. I don't get how so many people can think this years preseason games with our current young players and new coaches isn't important? Or trying to minimize our preseason. Our preseason is more than evaluating talent... Many problems in preseason rear themselves in the regular season and vice versa. That first preseason game was horrific. I would say things didn't go as coach Galiey had planned... I hope things turn around quickly. I am looking forward to the next few preseasons games. I can say with reasonable certainity that it will be a long season if the next few preseason games are like the one in Washington. Wondering how many will be quick to disregard all the preseason games as just a player evaluation process? I am hoping for vast improvements. Perhaps, I am missing the boat but that is my take on things. Not sure if I answered your questions?
  2. He inherited a team with many needs. However, IMHO, he had plenty of imput regarding our most recent draft and free agency signings/lack of signings. The new regime for whatever reason did not upgrade two critical positions which were QB and LT. I believe that was a mistake. I don't know how much accountability goes to Gailey. I do believe he has some level of responsibility for that. To answer your question, for the most part it is not his fault.
  3. You make a fair point. Perhaps, I over emphasized my point a bit. I would ask you to evaluate the Redskin's performance. Preseason or otherwise, I believe they achieved what I was looking for from the Bills.
  4. I have to agree with certain parts of your post and disagree with it as well. Agree: Preseason is to evaluate talent. Disagree: Preseason is about game planning (not so much of x's and o's.) The coaches should have a plan to evaulate their players. A coach should have a long term plan towards the season opener. Preseason or not, a coach with a young team should have his players motivated to play. A coach can set the tone in the preseason. That's exactly what Mike Shanahan did. A winning positive attitude preseason or not. Gailey failed to accomplish this. So indirectly, it is about coaching too. The players should be held accountable for their play in preseason and so should the coaches. From your favorite poster, MPL
  5. The first preseason isn't the tell all and end all either. However, I think the game was important to me for a few reasons. I wanted to see a new Bills regime with a new attitude and sense of toughness. A team that looked hungry and ready to learn and develop into a cohesive team. I wasn't fooling myself thinking they were going to look like a super bowl contender. As a fan, I wanted to see a team and coaching staff with a chip on their shoulders. A team ready to fight, scratch, and claw. Players diving, running, and hitting the opposition even if it was late. I wanted to see a team who gave me hope for the future. Many of us fans are scared by the lack of winning. As a fan, the team and coaches gave me anything but hope. I wonder how the players are feeling...For a young team, I think it is important to play well and build confidence. I don't see how this was accomplished in Washington. Granted it was the first preseason game but for the above stated reasons I think the game was important. It was by all accounts a total failure and lack of confidence booster for the fans and players. The good thing is Gailey and company have another shot at getting things rectified.
  6. Wow, if I read between the lines it sounds like your saying the Bills are never going to be any good. I am a pessimist but I do have hope for the future.
  7. I hear what your saying. It does make sense but let me try to reply. The importance of value in the draft cannot be under estimated. I believe that is why the Bills picked Spiller. Clearly, we didn't need a RB. It was a value pick. The same could be said of Jimmy Clausen. I would bet on most team's board Clausen was ahead of Troup. Maybe, I am wrong. The Bills could have picked Clausen base on BPA. They chose not too. Which I think is your point. However, a valid point could have been made on why they picked him if he indeed was ranked higher. IMHO, the Bills reached for Troup based on need. Time wil tell if passing on Clausen and picking Troup was the smart thing to do? Secondly, Clausen didn't have to start right away. He could have sat on the sidelines and developed. Conversely, he could have been plunged into the starting line up right away. Perhaps, he could have been a stud? or dud? If he turned out to be really good then there is no need to draft a Qb next year right? Just because the Bills and other teams based on him doesn't mean he won't be a successful NFL QB. Sounds like you have already decided he isn't going to be good? Nobody knows that... Thirdly, there is all this talk about getting a QB next year. You don't know that either. I thought for sure we would address the situation this year and we didn't. We don't know where the Bills are going to draft. What if the Bills don't like any of the QB's in the draft? Then what? Also, there is no absolute that if we draft a QB next year that he is going to be the one. Then you wasted a presumable top 5 pick on a QB. IMHO, picking Clausen at 41 was an easy decision. A decision that would have cost them very little. Could have possibly gotten a solid to franchise QB at a cheap price. Filled a huge need on top of things and wouldn't have broken the bank to sign him. A prefect combo for the Bills organization. To boot,Troup and Cam Thomas could had been selected in the lattter rounds. IMHO, we could have eaten our cake and had it too. A huge gift was looking them in the mouth and they passed. There are no sure things for next year. I get a little annoyed when I hear people talking about next years QB draft. Based on the Bills draft track record ,I do not have confidence that they will select a Qb and if they do I don't have the confidence they will choose the correct one. I hope that clarifies what myself and perhaps others might be thinking...
  8. It wasn't meant to stick it to him or anyone else. He made a statement regarding me that wasn't true and I defended myself. I see nothing wrong with that. I would politely ask you what makes them worthless? I would like some concrete examples instead of some general attack. Show me the lack of validity in my post. Now, disagreeing with my post is a whole different issue...no problem there...
  9. Show me where I said I see I told you so? Never, once did I say that and I have been very careful not too. I have much more integrity than that. Everything I have said has been critical of the playeres, coaches, and the organization. Never once did I make this about me? Can someone send him this message?
  10. Well said Dan. Biscuit is doing his best to alter the facts to make the current Bills situation less discouraging. At least, you are willing to set the record straight. I basically said the same thing on another thread. He is comparing aples with oranges.
  11. The time to do that was in the off season and the draft!
  12. Where did 7 sacks a year come from. I see no evidence of that happening any time soon. I am waiting for sack number 1. I think you have no pertinent evidence to sugggest a 7+ sacks a year player. Purely, an opitimistic viewpoint with no reliable evidence to back up such a statement. (ie) Lets give Trent some time to develop under Gailey. He might throw for five 300+ yards and have a 15 + TD passes a year. Is that such a bad thing? Come on Biscuit you are smarter than that and so are we....
  13. I understand what your saying but that comparison is slanting the truth. The big difference (levy teams) is that we knew we had a great team with very experienced players. Those players already knew how to win. So, preseason wasn't all that important. This team is nowhere near that team. Preseason is much much more important. We have to evaluate talent, see how guys play in game time situations, learn how to win, develop an identity an attitude, etc...The comparison is a bad one. I know it is the 1st preseason game but I think a winning tone, positive attitude and thinking, and a swagger needs to be developed. Last nights game did nothing to extract that type of atmosphere. That is my point.....
  14. As a Bills fan it was embarrassing preseason or not.....I stand by my statement and my emotions. You can characterize the game anyway you like. Just one question though. If the Bills played "lights out" would you be singing the same tune? The question is rhetorical so it doesn't need a response. Just something to think about?
  15. Either my point right right over your head or you refuse to acknowledge what I had said. I tend to think it is the latter since I have read many of your posts and you seem to be quite intelligent.
  16. I had low expectations. Here is what your missing. I wasn't expecting a great tactical x's and o's game. It is the first preseason game like you said. With that said, I was expecting to see the players play with emotion, fight, toughness, tenacity, etc...I was expecting the coaching staff to have a command presence, a leadership quality, a sense of toughness, a winning attitude. Instead, I saw the opposite. A coaching staff that looked awestruck and lost. Perhaps they underestimated the lack of talent. I saw players who showed no urgency to keep their jobs or break into the starting lineup. In the end, this type of preformance and attitude will not lead to us winning many games preseason or otherwise. IMHO, there is a sense of urgency...
  17. You should be embarrassed by how the Bills performed. Instead you attack me. Try attacking the Bills players, coaches, and organization for once. Preseason or not it was downright pathetic and I suspect we will see plenty more of it. What do you add to the forum? Last nights game verified most of what I have been saying. I must know something... Keep making those lame ass excuses...I'm not buying any of it. Your judgement is clouded. The game I saw showed a defense that sucked. Had no pass rush, limited success stopping the run, and looked like poop in general. No spark, no toughness, no emotion, nothing.....Same can be said about the offense. Maybe your OK with that or you think the magic light is going to go on? If so I have some swap land to sell you. It has an ocean view and I am asking $1 million. Interested? It's a great buy.... All your good for is attacking me. You should be ashamed of yourself. You make me want to puke! Too bad I am all "puked out" from yesterdays game.
  18. That is a genius statement. Wondering what you thought of the game? Wondering how you thought our QB's looked? Wondering how you thought our defense looked? Wondering how you thought the coaching staff did? In general would you say it was encouraging? Let'e hear what you think besides it's preseason and go away troll... Look at the post buddy and you will concur this troll knows what he is talking about and you don't.
  19. IMHO, he should have showed up at the press conference with a paper bag over his head. His team was outplayed in every facet of the game. He was outclassed and out coached. His players appeared to be unmotivated and unprepared to play. That has to fall on him. So much for all that pre camp and camp talk about how great Gailey is doing with displaying a "winning attitude" a "get tough attitude." It was quite the opposite. He will have his chance to prove otherwise. I was never on that Gailey bandwagon. Boy, sis I get shi* for that. Now by some accounts we have a head coach that meets the media and looks embarrassed. Some tough guy....
  20. Hey DOC, I have a grand idea. Why don't you watch the game before you comment on the game. Then maybe your judgement won't be so clouded. You have a lot of gull to comment on a game that you haven't even seen. Just reguratating second hand information. Don't insult our intelligence or at least mine. Watch the tape and then talk...
