  1. I understand what your saying and it does have validity. Here is my take on the issue. I believe when you have a chance to upgrade what is probably the most important position on the field you take it. The Bills missed on opportunity to upgrade at a very minimal cost. Heck, even crazy AL Davis could see that. Secondly, he could have held down the fort until we develop another QB. Wouldn't have to pick up an old washed up QB to train a new QB. How would you like to have Jason Campbell and Jimmy Clausen on our roster right now? Also, I think most everyone on the board is missing the point. The thread ask is there a open qb competition. My response is who cares! They can compete all they want the problem is not one of them are NFL starting QB material. An open competition is "moot." Whoever wins is by default and not good enough.
  2. Very good insight and I happen to agree.
  3. Your assessment is correct. However, they acquired a pro bowl QB named Donavan Mcnabb and drafted LT Trent Williams who manhandled Maybin. The Bills choose to got with what they had....poop. My brother always told me you can't make shi* smell like ice cream. Apparently, noone told coach Gailey that. Now, I would think most everyone can smeel the shi* even coach Gailey. Their wide receivers appeared to be coached up and their offense was clicking but I suspect that's because they were playing the Bills. We looked lost out there and looked to be playing without any desire or purpose. Gailey and the coaching staff has to be blamed for that. He should be ashamed of himself. It wasn't a proud night for Bills fans. With that said, I don't expect the Skins to make the playoffs but at least they should be in the hunt unlike us.
  4. With all do respect, now is not the time. I am going to just concentrate on the next preseason game and hope there is a marketable improvement.
  5. He is "raw." He is clearly a boy playing against men... Reminds me of my high school days. He looks like a freshman with talent playing on the JV team. Move the freshman to the varsity squad and he isn't shi*. Maybe he can progress but he looks to be of little value this year. We really needed him to step up. What a waste of a first round pick. I got mad every time I saw Orakpo's face thinking he should be on our team.
  6. It is too soon but its not too soon to start scouting those college QB's...I had thought the Bills would win 5 games but now in hindsight I think I was being generous. Who knows maybe they will surprise me?
  7. Enough with the excuses Mike. They sucked and everyone seems to know that except you. I don't want to hear your excuses for this second rate team.
  8. I am not going to say all that but I can say he has been mean to me when I said something negative.
  9. Bill, here is what I said in another post. I think it always addresses this thread. I am not a fan of Joe Theisman but I would like to address what he said. He stated that the "Bills looked tired." I am not sure if I agree with his statement. However, his statement greatly concerns me. IMHO, the Bills looked flat, uninspired, lost, unmotivated, lacking toughness, lacking emotion, etc.... That is not what I expected from a Chan Gailey team. I expected the team the make many mistakes but what I didn't expect was the above mentioned. I think Gailey had a chance to make a positive statement to us fans. (ie) Our team is going to play hard, be tough, kick some ass, get into some fights, play dirty, and scream, jump around, show some emotion, and hopefully improve and win some games in the future. Instead, what I saw was a continuation of the Juaron era. He looked like a confused, lost, and dumbfounded coach on the sidelines. I know it is early so I hope things change fast....
  10. All good and dandy Mike. However, young, inexperienced, and less than talented players make mistakes. It is not enough to say if we could eliminate the mistakes....
  11. DC, I almost broke my TV when they selected Troup. The Clausen pick at 41 was a no brainer and it is becoming more and more evident with time. CLausen looked more seasoned and more confident then Trent. Fitz just plain sucked too. Brohm must really be bad... Well we can B word and moan all we want and its not going to change anything. This topic has been beaten to death. Too early to proclaim Clausen a successful NFL QB. Not too early to say Trent/Fitz aren't NFLl QB's. That is the real question.

  13. PTR, I am not going to do that. IMHO, it is not about being right or wrong. It is about the Bills trying to win games, being successful, and winning a super bowl. I cannot hold it against you or anyone else who has "high hopes" and optimism for the Bills. Logically, I don't understand it...It is only one preseason game but it did illustrate that we are a team in transition. Perhaps, many of the optimists here may have to temper or alter their thinking. Bottom line is we as Bills fans are disappointed in that performance. I give you major props for addressing the people here. The others are nowhere to be found...
  14. I wasn't expecting much being the first preseason game and all the changes that have occurred. However, I have been reading and hearing how coach Gailey has been instilling a sense of toughness with our guys. I didn't seem that with our guys. They were getting "manhandled." It goes back to what I have been saying all along. A coach has to have talent and that is something the Bills are lacking... Prior to this season, Washington and Buffalo are pretty comparable teams. At this point, the progress and lack of is pretty evident.
  15. How the heck can you not be discouraged? I know its the first preseason game and all. I am one of the most pessimistic guys on here and I am very upset and discouraged. I wasn't expecting miracles but what I saw was flat out embarrassing. I almost wanted to cry. WOW, I never thought we would be that bad. It was like a recurring nightmare.
  16. I hear you green. Good post. I really wasn't trying to stay my post were strategic. I don't think I am smart to think that far ahead. Although, I am a great chess player and was the captain of my high school team many moons ago. I was merely trying help the poster in question to think of me in a different light; instead of a negative a hole. I probably didn't succeed...
  17. If we acquire him, I wouldn't be surprised if Thigpen becomes the starter. He has a positive history with coach Gailey.
  18. I disagree bandit. Your logic is flawed. My negativity balances out lots of the positivity. i don't have to post positive comments to provide a balance...
  19. I do root for me team! I will root for them til I die. That doesn't mean I can't be critical of the Bills organization. Not to be rude or anything, maybe you should take into consideration what I am saying. I believe many of my points have validity...
  20. I believe it is very important to listen to all sides of a post. Balance often is refreshing and needed. Just look at me as being one who tries to balance the post. Wouldn't this thread be boring if everyone had a 100% positive outlook on the Bills? I love reading the optimistic post here even if I disagree with them. It tell me that my viewpoint may not be correct and others don't share my pessimistic viewpoints. It keeps me grounded. For me, this forum would be boring if everyone was negative like me. Maybe you can be more open minded when reading my post. As negative as they are most of them do make valid points...
  21. I just stated my feelings and I in no way intended to start a fight. All I was trying to say is the guy hasn't proved anything to me. He is 0-0 as a Bills coach. I don't think Gailey is doing anything remarkable. I like the direction and the things I am hearing but in no way shape or form is he doing anything out of the ordinary. I will remian skeptical until proven otherwise. I am not about to sing his praise until I see results. You can sing as much as you want and as loud as you want.
  22. Really, what does Jim Kelly fall under?
  23. Guess, you could be saying the same thing in next years draft too?
