THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Receivers are a Dime a Dozen
stuvian replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
so you're saying my Quintez Cephus Bills jersey investment was a little premature? Now you Cephus, Now you don't! The decision was made after he tried to attend a team meeting by Zoom from Seneca Falls Casino. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Receivers are a Dime a Dozen

Everything in football is cyclical. The game has been re-engineered for a pass first offense by the suits on Park avenue. Fewer players try out for running back as result. Yet scoring is down as defenses now play out of a 4-2-5 base. A nickel defense opens up opportunities for the ground game. Who's doing the running? Quarterbacks! This is what got us back to our rugby roots with the tush push. Everyone wants a star receiver on a rookie contract. Not so much when they hit their peak earning years. The chicken and egg argument is whether the QB made the WR or the other way around. How many great WRs won a Superbowl without a great QB? Paul Warfield if you concur that Bob Griese was good but not great. Anquan Boldin if you agree that Flacco was good but not great. Art Monk if you allow that Theismann was good but not great. Many great QBs won Superbowls without great WRs. -

I'm quite shocked the Giants, Raiders, Titans, and Seahawks didn't draft a QB. Daniel Jones is one hit away from a life in a wheelchair and Will Levis screams Tannehill 2.0. So the Cowboys are going with a broken down Elliott rather than draft some fresh legs at RB? I'll be surprised if McCarthy makes Thanksgiving. Some part of me was waiting for the Bears to Trubisky themselves again. A broken franchise is right twice a century.

if we didn't take out a mortgage on the Ralph to buy out Tee Higgins and Justin Jefferson then draft the sons of Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice, we didn't do enough -
I'm giving Claypool the benefit of the doubt over the trainwreck that is the Chicago Bears. Can you name a receiver in the last 5 years that has panned out for the Bears? Me neither. These GMs play politics to cover up their own mistakes. Fields is a bust so let's blame it on the receivers to save our job. Suddenly the Steelers are talking bout Fields running back kicks! Isn't that tacit admission that he's inept as a passer? Claypool wasn't going to get many looks in Miami being the new guy in town with Hill and Waddle. This signing is all upside.
