  1. I'm in favor of any pick that is an offensive position.
  2. Have you seen how Detroit uses RBs? If not, it is not in a way that makes them shine. The dude is extremely talented.
  3. Sign this guy now, and you don't have to worry about using a 3rd ot 4th round pick on a RB in the next draft. If you're looking toward the future, a starting RB is now out there for the taking.
  4. Good! However, grab the RB of the future somewhere in rounds 3 or 4. It is very possible to get a great back in that area of the draft, and then ease them in next year as you slowly transition McCoy out of the feature back role by the end of 2019. I'm thinking by the end of next year try to get McCoy about 12 carries per game while get ting the new guy about 10. Of course, Shady should start next year with about 80 to 90 percent of the touches.
  5. Did anyone say Vince Young yet? Cause I think he still has a birthday party loan to pay off and would probably take the job if offered.
  6. Totally. I'm sure he saw this and try his very hardest moving forward now that he's "on notice". As a second year coach, he didn't know this was serious and that he had to win games. Now that he knows, I'm sure he'll promise to do better.
  7. Well, some of his issues are actually more likely rooted in societal norms and expectations of what defines masculinity, but we won't get into that on a football discussion board. Yea, he has made some mistakes, but nothing unforgivable, especially considering the number of guys that get second and third chances after beating their kids, raping women, and punching/strangling their significant others. By comparison, Chad Kelly is a saint. And you want to talk about douche bags? Eli Manning and Bryce Harper are likely the two biggest douch bags in all of professional sports, but they're happily employed.
  8. And then answers himself..."He's Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills and he's worth millions!"
  9. No doubt about it, the kid is talented. I would have had no issues using a 4th round pick on him in that draft. Now, we can have him without giving up anything. Why not take a chance? Hopefully the front office has already reached out. Elway won a superbowl while Jim couldn't. How sweet would it be to ultimately win a championship with JK's nephew after he was cut by Elway. I realize that's jumping ahead and dreaming, but man would it be awesome.
  10. I'd actually be more interested in knowing if we even attempted to sign him as a QB this past offseason.
  11. Ivory and Murphy are more than capable of carrying this running game. Trade McCoy for whatever you can get at this point. Get rid of KB. Get a new OC. Forget game preparation (although it looks like we've already done this) and use the extra time putting together your FA and draft boards.
  12. I do think coaching is sometimes underrated actually. Speaking about McDermott specifically, as a defensive coach, look at what he has been able to do with this defense. And, he has done it with a group that includes a lot of guys that would be called below average from a talent level. Of course, now some of them seem like stars, but go back and look at how upset people were the Poyer was our choice for a starting safety. Now everyone loves him because our coaching is getting the most out of him. Tie this back to QBs, and for just one example, we'll use who seems like one of the ultimate QB gurus, or at least offensive minds, in Kyle Shanahan, and the QBs he has worked with. 2007 through 2009 - Houston Texans - In his first year as the Texans QB coach, Shanhan gets nearly 3900 yards passing and 24TDs out of Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels. We cannot really compare Schaub prior to this year, because he was mostly on the bench in ATL, but Schaub continued to produced mostly above average and even downright good (2009 - 4770 yards and 29TDs) good season, relying on Shanhan's coaching and development. 2010 - 2013 - Washington Redskins - An aging Donovan McNabb provided little production, and Rex Grossman was serviceable the following year, and Shanahan is then primarily credited with the development of both RGIII and Cousins. Remember, RGIII was once good, and his stats in 2012 read as 3200 yards, 20 TDs, 5 Ints. He had a similar season in 2013, though the interceptions increased. Cousins never got the chance to be the guy with Shanhan there, but did great during his limited playing time. 2015 and 2016 - Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan has always performed at a high level, but his only MVP season comes with Shanahan as the OC 2017 - Present - 49ers - Jimmy Garoppolo, who has a lot of hype but few stats, ends the season looking like the next great QB (After the trade with NE), and now we see Beathard, previously thought of as "not good", even in college he cause significant frustration during games with his play and decision making, playing at a high level. Even when Garoppolo went down, there were multiple analysts and writers that could not fathom how the 49ers were going to roll with Beathard. I guess what I'm saying with all of this is, yes, coaching absolutely does make a difference and is an issue for the Bills, and also yes, I do think Allen can learn to read a defense and can eventually be the guy that wins games for us, but man, we need that coaching for him, and right now, I believe superior offensive coaching is exactly what we do not have as part of this team.
  13. That's the thing about immense amounts of raw talent. It gets you through youth sports, high school, and even college, making you look like a star. Then, when you get to the pros you have to actually learn how to play the game. I think this is a factor in what we are seeing with Allen. There are players who dominate the SEC on talent alone, so for Allen to do well in the Mountain West on pure skill and talent is not that surprising. The good news is, I do not think Allen is 100% raw talent who refuses to study, put in the work, or someone who cannot learn to play the game and use what he has at the NFL level (e.g. JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, Charles Rogers, Dion Jordan, and others). It is going to take time, but I think he has both the intelligence and work ethic to, eventually, be able to utilize his talent at this level.
  14. Even if he starts to put it together, you still take another QB in the draft next year. I vote David Blough from Purdue.
  15. This has probably already been shared, but if not... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/10/14/kelvin-benjamin-rebuffs-josh-allens-interest-in-pregame-pitch-and-catch/
  16. Remember last week how there were good offensive plays called?
  17. Why are all the receivers 40 yards down the field on a third and medium?
  18. Weird that *NE already let this practice footage leak out to others.
  19. I want to see Brady yell at people on the sideline again.
  20. I put $10 on buffalo to cover the spread and $3 on them winning the game outright. I came out with about $47 in winnings. I'm not sure I would ever bet $5k on any NFL game. There's no such thing as a sure thing when betting.
  21. I am a little disappointed, but not surprised with our start. I was the least excited for this season as I can ever remember. That said, I liked what I saw in the second half, and think we win next week. I will be disappointed and surprised if we are 0-3. I would not have said that last week, but I now think we can win.
  22. For anyone who's ever had a job, you know that for even the worst job, if you have a good supervisor and decent co-workers, you're still going to give your two weeks notice simply because you respect and appreciate those you work with. Now, you can also have a good, or at least decent/tolerable job, but if the people suck, you may walk out at lunch time and not come back. Or, maybe the job, culture, and people suck, and you need to run as far as you can, as fast as you can. I don't know what is going on internally in that locker room, but back to my first point, if you have any respect at all for those you work for/with, even in a crappy job, you don't just abandon them without notice.
  23. If we play 4 quarters like we played the last 2 today, I think we get to 1-2 next week.
  24. The Doug Marrone and Nathaniel Hackett tandem is doing us a favor today by beating *NE. I actually liked that coaching staff and always thought Hackett was a pretty intelligent offensive mind. I hated that Marrone quit on us, but do feel the drought would have ended that following year had he stayed.
  25. My wife and I evacuated from Wilmington, NC due to Hurricane Florence and have been staying at a hotel in Atlanta since Tuesday. Tomorrow, we are driving to a hotel in Aiken, SC to get a couple of hours back closer to home until we can safely travel back to Wilmington. Does anyone have recommendations for a place to watch the game in Aiken/Augusta?
