  1. Im not against picking Hill, but certainly not in the first round. He is not a polished route runner by any means. He would be better off sitting for a year, not being an immediate #2. Also, he had no production in college at all. I understand he ran in a goofy offense, but if youre that good, the team would get you the ball more. You can get good receivers in any round. Taking such a risk at such a high point in the draft is too risky for my blood. id personally rather snag an OT or CB, and see if hill is there in the third. Or just take floyd.
  2. except for the fact that he fought against the old CBA, and every other owner realized a few years later he was right. also, i didnt hear anyone calling him cheap when there was no salary cap, and the bills had one of the highest payrolls in the NFL. if anyones tightness is legendary, its snyder, ask any redskins fan. does he waste money on coaches and players? yes, but the fans suffer in every other manner. if he were greedy, they wouldnt be playing in ralph wilson stadium. they would be playing in (insert bank/corperation name) here. if he wants to fight and as you put it, be greedy, to ensure that the bills remain in buffalo, and remain profitable and ensures their long term success in the western new york area, then by all means, be greedy. is he great? no.... does he spend money? yes, on the wrong players. DJ was making a decent chunk of change when he got let go. RW probably thought he was making a good investment which we all know he wasnt. they pay the wrong guys, and ill listen to that. but cheap? no... i dont think so. the bills tickets are cheaper than sabres tickets even. the bills have the cheapest tickets in the NFL, by far. the average seat is 30 below the nfl average cheap seat price. if he really wanted to, he could attempt to bleed the fans, but in general, he does not.
  3. I wasnt at the game, i was quite young at the time (12) and didnt get a chance to go to the games until i was much older for reasons obvious to anyone in buffalo. i do remember listening to the game at home and my dad getting so mad, he shut the tv off right at the start of the half. he and i got into his car, turned on the radio and drove around. obviously, im not going to point out what happened, we all remember, but i remember one of the greatest moments of my life (sadly, though im not married/no kids). i was on the 190, and everyone had pulled their cars over to the side of the road, had the radio blasting and were jumping up and down screaming, and hugging each other. there were like 20+ cars, no one was driving, everyone was celebrating. i know its a sports moment, and shouldnt be a life favorite, but it was such a feeling of unity and community. i WAS buffalo at that moment. everyone was pulling for the same thing. we forgot everything we hated about each other for just a few minutes. i love that memory.
  4. You tend to think fitz ranks better than he actually is until you see all the names. most people do rank on name and potential though, both of which fitz has none. If you need another example, there really are very few young QBs who are better than josh freeman, but he was barely voted for as a first round pick. he doesnt put up gaudy stats, and playing for the bucs probably doesnt help him, but he is going to be a star in the league in the next few years.
  5. what about the second round pick when they say, we had him in our top ten to fifteen and were surprised when he was still around. we think he had first round talent and it was a shock he was still on the board when it was our pick again.
  6. hes definitely the guy for now. can you win a championship with him? i dont know, maybe? stranger things have happened. if we get a better Oline and the transition to the 3-4 happens sooner than later, he can. if you think a guy like Cassel can lead the Cheifs to the SB, you would have to believe that Fitz could as well. i think he may need some bigger, more physical receivers than what he has. hes not the most accurate guy.
  7. to make more money. if espn called kiper and said, how about 10 grand for a new mock. what do you have for us? and he replied, same as last week, wtf you think it changes daily? so guys make calls, pretend they hear something, and make some bank. no one remembers april 29th what they said anyways. all they want to know is what they thought of their teams draft to reinforce what they already think.
  8. if you really want to do this, but cant because of the CBA, you do this. philly says, you can have our first (23) second (54) and third (85) and kolb, for your third. they want peterson, you draft peterson then you call them and say i want player x when the 23 pick happens, player y at 54 and player z at 85. then, as soon as the CBA happens, you trade everyone. since there is probably going to be a rookie wage scale, you never negotiate contracts, so that doesnt matter, and if they want PP, hes all yours. having said that, i dont believe it at all. then again, they did trade up last year very high.
  9. i think its obvious to anyone that following patrick moran is detrimental to your knowledge. having said that, i think if it were true, it would be more for the later rounds. nix said that ILB was one of our biggest needs, not OLB. Quan Sturdivant is a solid ILB prospect in the third round. they also have a good DT prospect, a few good-great OLB prospects (outside of quinn) and a couple good secondary prospects that will be available later in the draft. even the posibility of going Yates as a UDFA or 7th round prospect to take the third string qb if he thinks he can develop him more than Brown last season. if there were 3 to 4 guys the bills were seriously considering for picks, it might make sense to come see them all in one big shot.
  10. hes a really good player, top 10-15 worthy. having said that, there are 3-5 better D line guys who will be on the board at 3. dareus, bowers, quinn/miller (though they would play olb for a 3-4) are all better looking prospects. if the bills decide to trade down with a team like san fran, i would jump at the shot at getting him at the 7 area.
  11. hes a solid player, but if youre going to reach for a DE at 3, you really have to go with cameron jordan. ok, so i want cam at three, just not newton. if the bills address the D at 3, theres really no wrong answer. i would be happy with any of the following guys at 3; quinn, peterson, darues, fairley, quinn, miller, jordan. watt looks like a big reach at 3, but if we traded down with someone inside the top 10, i would sign up for him in 2 seconds. same with jordan. probably a reach at 3, especially if i can get dareus/fairley at that spot. ok, im not on the bowers bandwagon at all. just dont like him at all.
  12. true, but there have been plenty of guys who were in 1 read offenses that went on to be great qbs. the offense you run in college doesnt mean too much about how you can do in the pros. colt mccoy (who i beat the 1 read and run offense drum against last year) looks like he can make all the reads in the nfl. still dont care for him, but man, i feel silly now. newton is a two read guy, but he also isnt a run first guy. both tebow and mccoys offenses were predicated on 1 read, tuck it and run. can he succeed? sure. but if he fails, its not because he played in a two read offense, its because he couldnt understand the speed of the nfl or how to make decisions.
  13. so wait, you say that matt barkley is too short but then say kellen moore, who is listed at 6'0" is interesting? its true though, three year starters at USC who put up good to great numbers usually have a hard time getting drafted. also, hes known as a book worm, who had a 3.77 GPA in school before college. he also plays acustic guitar in his church youth group and his family started a foundation to help renovate millitary bases on a volunteer basis. he has all the talent and also all the intangibles. theres no real questions. he might not measure out well when he gets to a combine, but a good person who is a productive 3 year starter at a top school is going to get some looks. especially with his arm. To the point of barkely being picked before luck, how many people saw the crumbling of jake locker? he went for sure fire #1 overall pick, to second or third round prospect in one year. things can happen. luck is going with a new coaching scheme, and will have a big target on his back. Laundry Jones is more than an interesting prospect. lets say he has the exact same year he had last year. that makes him a career 64% comp guy with 102 tds 38 ints, and close to 15,000 yards in the same offense as the #1 overall pick in sam bradford. with a much worse supporting cast. he might end up being the best of the bunch. that makes three sure fire first round picks, with minimal warts. (luck, barkley, jones). you added nick foles, who i forgot, and who might be one of the more prototypical qbs in the draft. he will probably end up climbing like gabbert did where at the end of the season, half the message board will wonder who he was and where he came from. then again, he might end up being ricki stanzi. jacoby harris probably isnt going to end up playing much next season. he is undraftable at this point. he was benched when it mattered most for his team, and just throws up ducks whenever he feels like it, leading to too many ints. Garcia and Cousins have an outside chance of being 2-3 round material. if a light goes on for Cousins, maybe even more, but i doubt it. to say that the 2012 class is comperable to cancer, and to only respond with barkley is two inches shorter than he says he is and then labeling the other prospects as interesting, is a little meh. if you have reasons, im more than happy to discuss it. i love a good football conversation with someone who knows their stuff (and you clearly do).
  14. There is a possibility when luck comes out next season, hes not even the #1 pick. Barkley from USC is an elite QB, who is going to go in the top 5. 3 year starter at USC< very good numbers, has everything you would want. Also Jones from Oklahoma is a junior who could declare. when he stepped in for bradford, there was NO drop off at all. he was the reason many suggested that bradford rushed to get back onto the field after his first injury. if he shines, hes a top 5-10 player in the draft as well. though he plays in a gimmicky offense, case keenum will have been a 4 (5 technically) year starter, who put up 88 tds and 26 ints in the last two years, while compiling above or close to a 70% completion. then comes in the second tier guys like tannehill from texas A&m. Kellen moore from boise state will be a four year starter who is about drew breeses' height, so that will scare quite a few people off. lindley from san diego state. also, i cant remember his name off hte top of my head but the guy from ohio state. probably a mid round pick unless he really develops. oh, pyror. there will be guys who come out of nowhere like cam newton again. next years draft is going to be MUCH deeper and a much better place to find a qb flat out compared to this year. this year is a HUGE gamble since every qb prospect has huge warts. id rather wait a year and go full defense but thats just me. im more confident in fitz making a pro bowl than poz.
